I knoww...I hate youtubers who have a lot of useless chatter in the beginnings. Who's time do they think they're wasting? This is why I love Justine's videos.
I am a wheelchair user and laying in bed a lot.
So for me the most important thing is comfort and practicality.
I do wear regular clothes and not special wheelchair clothes.
I often have good quality clothes that cost more but last for years. And I make sure I always have enough for at least 1 week.
The sweaters and jackets need to be stretchy enough to be able to use my wheelchair.
In the summer I like dresses on the warm days and a comfortable stretchy pants with a shirt or top.
Leggings are my best friends too.
And stretchy jeans I love.
The pants last less long because of the sitting and laying down life style. So often I have to repair them.
With a dress I am checking the amount of fabric. Because if it flairs out to much it will get in between the wheels. So it's straight dresses or an a-line dress with not to much fabric.
When I am chosing a wheelchair colour I make sure it matches most of my clothes and my personality.
Well I wear full orthopedic shoes. So there is not so much choice for me. I have boots for the winter/autumn and sneaker style for the spring and colder summer days. And I have one pair of sandals.
I like bags but it does not really work with a wheelchair. So I have one black bag hanging underneath the chair and a grey one hanging on the backrest.

I’m starting my first office job this summer. It was a little daunting thinking about having to build a whole new workwear wardrobe. However, I took it as a perfect opportunity to revisit your capsule wardrobe series and integrate the strategies into my own closet. I spent about three or four weeks on Pinterest looking at different designed of “office appropriate“ clothing to pinpoint exactly what I needed (e.g., textures, color pallet and cuts would work best for me). When I finally went out shopping I was vigilant about sticking to plan I had laid out for myself and looking for good quality to invest in. I’m happy to say that I have a fully functioning capsule work wardrobe that has also alowed me to incorporate pieces from some local Canadian designer. There is something incredibly satisfying about having everything harmoniously works together. Thanks for all your great help and advice!!

I am a mum living in tropical Queensland, Australia, so washing is a frequent occurrence in this house and "warm/outer wear is not".
A capital wardrobe has definitely helped reduce stress in the mornings.
I thought I would be the only one with less than 10 undies. Haha
I own 9 undies, 2 nursing bras and 2 normal bras. And 3 pairs of socks.
Raii M I feel like Imelda Marcos, if anyone remembers her! I must have 60 pairs of sox and too many undies. It would give Marie Kondo a heart attack. Like the idea of minimalism, but not the reality. (My whole wardrobe is thrifted, except for inner wear).

YES! I have very much a pear shape & curvy figure but also love japanese/scandinavian style minimalism. Unfortunately that style seemed to mostly cut for rather androgynous figures. I'd love to know how I can achieve that style with a curvier figure.
I assume the fits would have to be tailored to your specific body type.

Since watching your videos I have been getting compliments on my wardrobe.
I have 25 panties and bras. Laundry every other week. Some are workout bras and panties.
Great vid, thanks. After doing my capsule all kinds of way, for me, I have found the most successful to think of full outfits across the various things I do..work from home, business meetings, travel, grandkids. So I have casual, smart, business categories..then I think of about 6 whole outfits for each category and then plan the individual items from there. I usually end up with about 18 core items doing it this way.
I have 3 regular bras and 3 sports bras.. And too many underwear to count! (probably 20-30). I live in a hot place and when you mentioned scarves for your summer wardrobe it made me laugh :) thanks for the great video!

I don't do a capsule. I have a ton of clothes and accessories collected through the years that I have to store the off season in bins 😆 Recently did the switch to late spring, summer, early fall. Mostly clothing, coats, boots, gloves, heavy scarves etc are boxed but I do sort through for items I didnt reach for to donate. When I unbox the coming season its like I just went shopping because I haven't seen them in 6 months 😁

Here in Southern Ontario, we have no moderation in our weather.
Our temperature can change 25 degree's either high or low in a day times, so my wardrobe has many types of jackets and coats for whatever our weather dictates.
I am in the US. (North Carolina). You are really helping me find the best pieces..and simplifying my wardrobe! I have actually been trying to declutter!!!
As a busty woman, I only have three bras because they're about £50 each. I have a tiny back size and a big cup size so most brands don't do anything in my size. Or they do ugly beige things that look like my grandma would wear. I want bras that both fit and are pretty to look at.
Ethical brands never do anything in my size, or they charge £90 per bra which is beyond the means of most people. My pet peeve is anything that calls itself size inclusive and has a range of 34-42 back sizes and A-E cup sizes. That's not inclusive. Most notable example is Rihanna's Fenty brand.
Strange Kat I have the same problem, so, like you, I only have a few. I found one style I like and buy it in different colours!

I thought it only happen to me. I basically wear a grandma style bra since it is the only comfortable bra that really fit on my breasts with reasonable price. No spilling fat, no hurting shoulder or rednees around your shoulder, and more importantly no suffocating in your bra area so, it is safe to wear in whole day. It just that it is definitely uncomfortable to do sport like running and jumping rope and so on. Even my sport bra still makes my breasts jinggle whenever I do a sport like that. Can't believe I use 2 bras while doing exercise. TT.

Merci, Justine! Good idea to underscore the importance of accessories, foundations, & outerwear in support of a seasonal capsule wardrobe. And as you say, location is key to assembling the best collection of these pieces. Here in Los Angeles, it’s extremely hot for much of the year, so outerwear isn’t usually necessary. But air conditioned buildings & cooler nights make layering a must. I always take a sweater or linen jacket with me when I go out even on the hottest the evenings, just in case. For daytime, UV protection is paramount, so I always have a hat or parasol. The parasol is nice because I can wear sleeveless & short-sleeved things, & with the hat I keep my arms & chest covered with a UPF 50 wrap or jacket. Whatever the season, I always have a silk scarf, keeping it in my bag if I’m not wearing it. They’re so handy! A portable “turtleneck” in fall & winter, a jacket or wrap in spring & summer, & always a nice hit of color whenever I want it.
I have so many pairs of shoes because I live in Canada and our weather changes so drastically in one week that I could go from flats to sneakers to rain boots to winter boots in one weekend.
I live in the southern part of the US, so the summer weather is very hot. However, so many offices and shops are SUPER air conditioned. That is why I always must have a cardigan or light jacket. I just traded my winter black pleather jacket for a white jean jacket. The color makes it more dressy, and it goes with all my dresses and tops. My purchase for this year is a white long sleeved duster made out of what feels like athletic wear fabric. I LOVE this piece and wear it all the time!!

Buying undergarments is a stressful experience. Finding a good fit is so difficult when inbetween sizes (I am currently making a big effort to improve my health) so the question every morning is, "How loose do I wear this until it's necessary to go down to the next lower size?"
Additionally, I have sensitive skin so the elastic and lace will usually be a problem. 😭 You see, you asked about my enemy. Sorry. 🙄🤦♀️🤪
All my life I have been searching for the perfect handbag. Now in my backpack phase. 🤩 I love being hands-free when I run for the bus or metro! Of course, they should be sturdy and well constructed, but I have different colored ones to match my mood. My co-workers even noticed that I have more than one.....why? Is it weird? Not to me! 🎒🎒👜👒👒

Since you asked for data - I have a little more than two weeks of under wear because I like to machine wash them and I like to do clothes laundry every two weeks. Mostly black but some nude (most of my bottoms are dark.). All low rise briefs which are the most comfortable. I don’t wear tight fitting clothes and usually my top(s) are long so I don’t worry about panty lines. I have five bras, three nude and two dark. I wash these by hand soon after wearing (sometimes in the shower!). All have straps, one is a sports bra. I keep about 15 pairs of socks, too because I machine wash them too. Most are black or navy, a few are khaki. As you could probably guess, I mostly wear black, grey, navy and khaki cotton pants in various weights year round. Enjoy your videos, thanks. One off topic comment - I liked clothes in both of your collections - especially the pants in the second collection. But could you please, please put pockets in your pants? All my pants (and skirts) have them - even my pajamas.

Yes please do! It's such an investment. I bought a vegan leather jacket. I had tried the typical black and it didn't suit me. My son suggested I tried the beige one which was much better with my dark skin dark hair.
That vintage red one she's got is really a statement piece and fits her perfectly. I want a short, dressy trench coat that fits me like that. It's my nemesis.

Justine, when promoting a brand to a worldwide audience, it would be inclusive to question these garments are "nude for whom?" For those looking for skin tone undergarments in an inclusive shade range, there's Nubian Skin, Aerie, Naja, Third Love, The New Nudes, and Savage x Fenty.
I think that the term "nude" here refers not to skin tone, but what shows through light colored clothes. Thank you for suggesting these alternative sources.
@@dsquared1950 I respectfully disagree. "Nude" is the default for non-People of Color. It is the standard in lingerie, pantyhose, cosmetics, crayons, Band-Aids, athletic wrap, mic headsets, ballet shoes, etc all resulting from white supremacy. Nude is not a color per se. Again it begs the question, "Nude for whom?" Time and time again these products are made to simulate the skin tone of white people. It is inherent and built into our culture with origins in colonialism.
@@LeslieSpeights I agree and disagree. Certainly, colonialism had an influence here as you stated. But nude and blush are also colors on the Pantone color wheel. There are many different shades of flesh, and the color nude won't match all those shades. But Justine was not wrong in stating the colors black and nude are available for this product.
Kristine Stocker I’m with you, I think the ‘nude’ here is to wear under light colour clothing, I’m not aware of a different term it’s not beige or cream for example, and clearly ‘nude’ for a person of colour would not sit well under white trousers..

I have 15 pieces of U/W...just counted. I find this ideal for laundering. But...wait for it....I have 34 scarves of all sorts! I adore them and wear them so much almost all year round. They suit my long neck and they provide such a burst of colour to any outfit...also good colours next to your face are very flattering.

Today is the perfect day for this video. I’m just doing my Spring cleaning and I’ve just lost 25 pounds so I’m actually shopping my old skinny wardrobe 😘. I prefer the new curated wardrobe of favorite pieces so I always feel I look my best versus having several trendy pieces which aren’t tailored to me and quickly look dated. Less really is more. Thank you so much, Justine for helping me appreciate the best of my wardrobe. I’ve been using the other pieces to experiment with creating my own designs and perfecting my tailoring skills. I’ve also learned these are two very different things!
Lingerie situation: 2 underwire bras in beige w/matching panties, 1 cranberry bralette and matching bottom, 1 white bralette w/matching bottom, black ditto but w/3 bottoms, one mauve w/2 bottoms, one light grey bralette and 2 matching panties, then 2 black camisoles, one white and one navy, a one piece ‘’shaper’’ w/lace and beauty in white and one black ‘’girdle’’ to help w/occasional lower back pain.
I would like a few more camisoles, ck’d the options in the Danish line and am impressed!! Thank you Justine for a warm, personable and informative video - as always.

I've recently bought three summer paces because they looked great on me. I usually ask myself "what can I pair it with?", but I never made a list of everything I'll need to wear during a season...I think this break down is perfect. I don’t really have a capsule wardrobe but I think I have more winter clothing than summer clothing, though for the summer I have a LOT of UPF shirts, pants, jackets + other pieces, probably much more than I really need. The UPF clothing probably means my summer wardrobe is more or less equal to my winter wardrobe.

My minimal shoe collection is: one pair of laid back shoes/sneakers, one pair of teva sandals (so durable!), one pair of nice black shoes, mine are actually menswear shoes, and one pair of girly sandals for weddings etc. With these I get around all year and only the first mentioned ones would need to be regularly replaced. For winter, I add thick socks. I do own a pair of hiking boots as well which will probably last me half a lifetime.

Good topic, as usually :-) I was curious to count my items and I was amazed by results. My capsule wardrobe contains: 12 jumpsuits, 5 tops, 2 dresses and 2 jackets. For me, jumpsuits are very practical, they allow me freedom of movement, I can ride my bike, I just put it on, take my shoes and I am ready to go. Also, they are great canvas for accesoires. I knew I loved them, but I just realized how much :-)

In a city like NYC, which is cold in winter and ALWAYS stylish, I use much more outerwear. Trench, jacket, several overcoats both basic and avant-garde artistic.

I think having the same number of underwear as tops is a good rule of thumb - which I need since I tend to amass undies whenever there is a sale (they're cute, cheap, and don't take up much space, but I probably don't need 75 pairs). This series is super-helpful, along with the rest of your videos. Doing an inventory of where my clothes were made and quality of material helped me reduce my closet by 20%. Now I'm using your advice about Kibbe type and building a capsule to get down to 33 items per season this year and hopefully 20 per season next year (with 13 pieces overlapping).

Hi Justine. I have swapped my winter capsule wardrobe for summer wear. Added 2 bathing suits, kept my 14 pairs of underwear, and will shop for a hat. I have 5 more pair of underwear for special occasions. Hee hee.

Hi, Justine! I ususlly take out of the wardrobe all my clothes for the season. If there's some garments that need to the replaced (don't fit anymore, or are not appropriate for my age/body/lifestyle, etc.) I donate or sell these garments, then I make a list of things and buy what is on my list ONLY. That's the hardest part: stick to the list! 😁

I never know how is the weather going to be, I live in a tropical country and we don´t have seasons...but well, I think that makes it easier since we can always have the same wardrobe, I suppose is like a spring kind of. Thank´s, I always enjoy your videos.

Hi Justine! I love this kind of video, for me it's great to have a little structure in the middle of my chaotic life. I was trying to build one capsule for each season, but now I see that it would be smarter to have only two (hot/cold) first, so I can buy really good stuff and only after start to play with each season. Also, I would like to ask you to do this same video but for the cold seasons! I live in the south so it makes me a little sad to hear about spring haha. 😂

we live in a hot humid city, Brisbane Australia and we are going on a river cruise this June in Europe..so thank you for saying that the evenings are cool. It has helped me with to take my leather jacket too
