A lot of mechanics would have just replaced the head gasket then told her she also needed to replace the radiator. You seem like a genuinely good and kind person
I would think crooked ones would quote/charge for a head gasket job, replace the radiator, and skate away with the money.
@@drucifer83314 yall are cute thinking they would do any work or fix any issues
Dude you’d get shitcanned at the dealership for some shit like that you do your comebacks for free well at least the dealership I work at.
Not really. Most mechanics gonna verify the problem not just do what someone said another mechanic said...
No they wouldn’t have. If they did, how the hell can you call them a mechanic.
I've been a mechanic almost 50 years. It's nice to see an honest one who knows what he's doing. There's a lot of idiots out there who wouldn't know a bad head gasket from a leaking water pump. Nice job.
I envy you people. I was never taught how to work on cars. Too old to start now.
I have as well. Own shop for 40 years. I was the only transmission specialist that only had a 21' boat. All the rest had 30 up. Hmm. But I slept at night
Same here but I finally gave up and got a desk job easier on the mind@@user-kk1ru9cv7w
And to not charge to come out and figure out it’s not the head gasket. You my kind sir, ARE THE MAN
Yeah he’s a pretty cool guy! He does a lot of free work!
@@SLK0000 that's why everyone needs to like and subscribe. And watch. So he can make money and keep helping. At the end of the day he has bills to pay to.

Super cool guy!

The world needs more mechanics like you.
People in general.
💯%!
Sure would make life less of a scam.
This excellent mechanic proves that there are still honest good people who do a great job and don’t overcharge customers.
Damn you just saved her a ton of money
For sure! A diagnostic call for a VW??? easily $150.00 just to show up. Hopester gets the hottie treatment discount. She's awesome!
By switching to geico?
No check.....lol only way 2 go
Aww she was so sweet. Glad there are good mechanics like you around to be honest with people.
NICE to see an honest mechanic
You sir are indeed a rare person walking this planet, super easy, didn't charge for the call out, labor rates incredibly reasonable, sir i salute you.
Thankyou for your post.
😮rare my ass I do the same as him 😂
@@randomstuff797 and yet I've never heard of you.....that's not to insult you in any way......but, get your name and business out there and promote your good self.....all this stuff is good for you and all that you help along the way......thankyou for your post.
What a nice guy to this girl, you got good schooling from your parents man, respect to you🙏
Glad to see a mechanic breaking the stereotypes and actually helping a customer properly and not overcharging unnecessary prices for simple fixes.
Same for doctors
She meets the Jetta owner stereotype perfectly.
Please elaborate.

@@AlphanumericCharacters Oh. Thanks for the clarification.
Yup! She def has a lot of guy friends on the weekends but they don’t know cars. 😂
WOW, top bloke. A lot of mechanics would have charged her for a head gasket and then put some radiator stop leak in it. Especially female clients. It's so good to see in this day an age good honest work ethics.
You're the cheapest and most honest mechanic I've Ever seen!!
Gave my daughter a 4 runner that started using coolant. Mechanic said it was a cracked head. I started checking and found An oil cooler on passenger side of motor that only needed a gasket! Saved 6500 he had quoted!
Hard to see a cracked head without removing it, unless it's badly cracked on the outside.
Well done..honest & respectful…..spot on!
Everyone needs an awesome and honest guy like you.
this guy is refreshing to say the least .
keep being honest and your reputation will guarantee more work than you can handle u til you retire .
i worked as a carpenter and remodeler for decades at very wealthy peoples houses on bainbridge inland wash.
during a conversation with one of my clients , she told me the reason she and her friends continued to hire me for years was because they trusted me 100 % . your reputation is everything .
That's the sort of Guy you can trust. You don't often find a man like that and I've been driving for more than 60 years. I would love to have his phone number. BIG PROBLEM.... I LIVE IN A PLACE WE USED TO CALL GREAT BRITAIN . Keep up your good work it's great to see an honest Car Mechanic so so rare these days. Colin.
Very refreshing to see this man’s honesty and work ethic!
That’s easily a $600+ job by any other shop…bravo to you sir for your honest and affordable service!
That's how you gain and keep a future customer. As well as create new ones. Quick money isn't always the best.
This is a rare thing to see anymore a mechanic that's honest and kind. Thumbs up 😊
Good man. She will tell all her friends. Excellent work.
His honesty will get him plenty of business
I dont know why this video come up in my feed but, im glad i did. You have such a wholesome attitude. True gentleman
I retired and spend my days doing handyman work helping old people. Many would not do the work as they don't have the money. If they have the means I charge $25/hr. No travel time and I round down most days. Keeps me busy and I love helping people. This man will be blessed for using his skills to help people.
You are a gentlemen sir. Honorable mechanic is a beautiful thing when you find one.
Nice video
Honesty is the best policy..Good job Matthew Parker!
Nice to see a genuine, honest and knowledgeable mechanic, well done. Hey….customer was cute too!
So glad to see there are still honest mechanics out there. About 10 years ago my grandparents had their mechanic come check my 97’ Cavalier for a leak. Turned out it needed a radiator. He charged them $50 for the visit and $600 for the job that took him about 45 minutes. The radiator was only $64. After that I swore off calling mechanics and did a lot of learning and online mechanic classes so I could work on all of our cars and do side work. It’s the honesty that keeps people coming back, and it’s not hard to be fair and not scam people.
You are definitely THE MAN! Completely honest!
Even charges less for the actual job than others. Hats off to you
SHE'S KINDA CUTE
Hey Matthew, you are a very decent guy and obviously a professional! Good job man.
workin class working to keep each other goin....
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I appreciate you taking the time to talk to her about the process and what you were looking for. She seemed she was genuinely curious and wanted to know what was going on, and if anything just to have a little more knowledge for the future. Some people wouldn't have given her the time of day.
Thanks for being honest with everyone. That's a rare find these days.
Also, This guy is super nice, I know he doesn’t have the expenses or overhead that a dealership has, but a dealership where I live, charges minimum $175 plus tax just to diagnose this problem, will obviously only use/buy OEM parts and then labor again to re and re this radiator……..end cost being around $750 and up vs this guy literally charging a $100 bucks for all his time, knowledge and travel expenses…..she doesn’t know how lucky she is here.
Great to watch this especially as I got royally screwed yesterday by an A/C technician. In the long run, this great guy will get repeat and loyal customers because he isn’t out to screw everyone. Especially those who aren’t mechanically savvy . Thank you .
Good work, Mr. Parker. The world needs more of you!
Great work man. Just earned a customer for life.
Honesty and a good attitude, That's exactly how you get a lot of repeat customers and build a good reputation as a mechanic. That's hard to find these days in any repair business. Most will screw you over any way they can. Just like the scammer that said she needed a head gasket.
Bless you for doing the right thing!
Good Dude..honest work😊
Finding a good, honest mechanic is AMAZING! How many shops out there charging $200 just to hook up the scan tool?
Fantastic gifted mechanic, works on any car. We need more honest mechanics like him, plus he does service calls!
Woo no big teardowns. A customer of ours had us install a leather kit and door lock actuators on a 99 F250 7.3 Powerstroke. We got it done and ready to pickup, when the fuse that supplies power to the pedal popped. The potentiometer had shorted out. Took me a hour or so with a scan tool and the customer running around looking for the part that went bad. We did not charge him for that diagnosis or to put the parts on.
Thats a GREAT mechanic!
What a great guy, You don't find too many mechanics that are this honest
Good guy, honesty is the best policy
Good job bro, honest, affordable and knowledgeable, three best traits of a mechanic!!!! Honesty is so important!!!!
You are so awesome! Thank you for what you do! I work on my own vehicles but for those who don’t you are a gift from heaven!
Good to know they're still honest people .
Way to do honest work. That will keep your business strong and consistent!
$200
Thats a great deal man!
I agree. 200 for a radiator is a great deal. I was expecting about 400-500
He said it’s easy maybe 45 minutes labor so a honest price and he just gave a flat rate to some guys do the work then surprise you with the bill later taking forever to do the job
He is out of his mind. Wait til he sees what work is necessary for a radiator replacement on that model. Plus, I tend to doubt the radiator even leaks, the 1.8T is notorious for failed thermostat or oil filter stand gasket which is right where he was pointing to.
Go watch the video he put on about it@@Medicoredetective555
Why can't more mechanics be honest like this?
I've been a mechanic for 40 yrs now mostly do front end alignments and suspension work. I always bring people out to the car and educate them on what is going on.
What a cool honest Mechanic 💪🏻 hard to find someone like you.
Seams like a nice honest guy..
Love how you complement someone doin his job and not for scam her. That's messed up world.
It's rad that you told her what is going on, so many mechanics are shady and act like it's a state secret what's happening in the car
Where are you located, I will
Pass your info to people I know.
It is refreshing to find someone honest this day and time.
The "clue" was the lady said it stopped overheating for a while then started overheating again ... not the head gasket ... rads often self block small holes then start leaking again.
So good to see an HONEST MAN to help the lady out as a head gasket would cost a lot more to replace ... respect to Matthew for honesty.
Many mechanics are out for the instant “big - pay - day”, when honesty can increase that payout 100 times over !!!
nice to see there's honest mechanics still around... about the only other thing I figure he should probably have suggested is replacing the hoses along with the radiator...
An honest Mechanic... Finley!!!🎉🎉
That's how I do it. Give more than you receive.
Keep this guy!!
I had a place"mistakenly" not connect a coolant line to another part they replaced. Leaked coolant badly for 2 weeks. They refused to admit that's what it was AFTER I took it back and they fixed their mistake. They tried to tell me it was a head gasket issue. 2nd opinion (and the fact it stopped leaking after they connected the hose) showed there was no head gasket issue. Always get a 2nd opinion!
When my mother was alive a mechanic told her she needed to spend $800 on electrical work as her car was running rough. I changed the wires and plugs and for less than $100 it ran great. Some people suck some are awesome.
Hope seems much more interesting than the car. Glad to see people who understand that honesty is the best policy. 👌
Ford in Carson city Nevada would say the car is totaled.
That young lady seems so down to earth. Lucky man that finds her.
Lovely young lady and glad you could help her
Nice job young man.
Honesty, in this day and age!! Outstanding and well done sir!!!
You are a Man of integrity, l Salute you Sir. MJ in B'dos
Great to see an honest mechanic
I am just a shade tree guy, but I run into this stuff all the time. Super sad because as some of the other guys have said, an honest mechanic winds up getting fired because he won't play ball. Pisses me right off. Once had a girl told she needed a new motor. She had like 30k miles. It was a Daewoo, so ...but 30k miles and blow by already? It was burning blue smoke but only at high revs. It was a plugged up crankcase valve. Cost 12 bucks and took me like 30 seconds to pop it in. A local shop wanted to charge her over 3 grand and they probably knew damn good and well what it really was.
You sir are a blessing
Obviously this guy is saving the customers a ton of money by building revenues off of his YT channel. Nothing wrong with that at all, and keeps everyone honest for the world to see.. but at the same time, taking this car to a cheap but honest shop (not on YT), I would expect to pay ~ $500.. for me, since I have skills to DIY, it would just cost me parts and coolant (~$125). Kudos to you sir, I do appreciate this content.
I absolutely hate VW; refuse to work on them.
I absolutely love your work ethics.
.
THIS is the way to establish and maintain a solid satisfied customer base.
I subscribed,,because you are a good person, and not a cheat..we need more people like you..
Now that's what I call a human professional mechanic.... Respect 🙌👍
He sounds like he’s a good mechanic that really knows what he’s talking about and doing.
The thing I like about this video is the weather. It's such a lovely summer's day, perfect for working on the motor.
She is a cutey pie!
Good, honest auto mechanic…Thanks man!👍🏻👍🏻
Finding an honest mechanic is almost impossible to find these days. Honest, capable and reasonable in price, if you find one hang on to him.
Good honest guy here. Do the math: cost for the parts will run maybe 100 total. He’ll make 100 on the install. The install will probably take maybe 1/4 of his day. At that rate, with a full schedule, he’s grossing 2k per week. I don’t know what his costs are running (gas, tools, certifications/training, etc.), but if he’s banking 50k per year, that’s still not bad considering what working for a typical corporate shop would be like. Good man, and I think he’s got room to grow his pricing and profit margin while remaining very fair.
This guy is a BEAST!! Very good mechanic
They fell in love and married. Happily ever after......awwwww
We need more guys like this one...God bless you...
Glad there are still honest mechanics out there!
Nice job. I wouldn’t have charged for that diagnosis either. You got the job with hopefully good recommendations.
"I guess we'll just drive and see what happens"

Love her little excited scream lol
You have to investigate and dive in like this guy did great job 👍
This guy is GREAT. A real Oklahoma gentleman.
I hope you get rich as hell doing business like this. Good for both customer and business owner. Awesome job !!!!
I'm lucky my mechanic is just like this guy😅
