I know right!!!! I'm pretty sure I heard him say it's able to fly for 3hrs! I could fly this thing to my inlaws house which is 2hrs by road up the coast. I own a DJI spark which is good for 13mins fly time so this is insane in comparison.
That's the advantage of planes vs quads. Quads burn insane amounts of energy keeping all of its weight in the air, while planes use aerodynamics and lift. It means it can glide, catch thermals, fly great distances. There are solar powered planes that in right conditions can fly 'indefinitely'. The disadvantage is that that planes are less agile, hard/dangerous to fly in tight spaces, less suited for photography, the construction is harder (aerodynamics + CG, requires more knowledge IMO).
I don't know what dude is using but years years ago when I was still going school and parent didn't give me any money so I was making custom battery packs for planes out of quality high capacity li-on cells, people were getting 20 minutes on their planes with traditional li-po and after switch my product it was like one hour so 3-4x more, dude was like "Flight time so long I get bored and land it before battery drains out or my legs start to hurt and I need a break" And those were small battery packs and planes for faster rides. I could get 2 hours no problem if I needed.

The dump truck at the cement plant was spinning. You could see the shadow of your drone as you started to follow the car and the camera was pointing down. That was cool.

What an awesome flight!!! At the 24:30 mark, while you are flying over the cement company... there was a concrete truck washing out in the pond to the middle left of the screen... you can see the the truck’s drum rotating... this video/flight is amazing!! 🤙🤙
Thanks. Yes there were 2 dust devils I spotted while editing the HD footage. Both on bottom right of screen at different times. The dust I was seeing in the distance must have been some big dust devils in that first brown quarry i flew over. 👍

That is just fantastic. I've been in and out of various aspects of the RC hobby since I was a kid. Fixed wing, heli's, drones and this is just something else. It's all come such a long way. What would it cost to get everything needed for this kind of setup?
Beautiful flight footage. Am beginning to grasp the hardware language. A "CHUCK TRANSPLANT" means I can use whatever suitable frame that can hold the CHUCK. By doing so, I get a nice fpv stablized camera feed that records to the 64GB SD card located inside the 4G LTE USB modem with compatible SIM card. Amazon is on back order, so there must be demand for such a unit? This approach means one gets the Flight Software, RTH functions, etc. Sounds very cool.

This is the best if you want smart / digital potentially unlimited range with all features. You might find a used or refreshed Disco on sale. Otherwise nothing I know of comes close and is modable like this package for the price. You can custom build something somewhat similar with an ardupilot flight controller but it would be more of a custom setup without some of the features ✌️

Dustin... I managed to find a parrot. What transfer do you recommend for long range 4g? I m looking at the optera and the night furry. What pushed you towards the night fury as opposed to another one. How is it better than the original disco frame? What would be your final go to motor based on your experience for long range. ?
This plane was built and offered by a friend to test. Likely due to it's similar control surfaces to Disco. It can hold more weight and has larger cargo space for larger batteries mainly 🍻

Modem has antenna connectors. It hasn't been proven antennas help much. I get variable outcomes with and without them.

With largest battery it is able to carry, range is around 100miles I believe. More of coarse with battery technology getting more efficient 🍻

I don't but it's mainly about cutting the foam carefully and fitting it in so the camera mounts properly up front.

The wing servos just connect to the chuck as the original Disco does 🍻
