  • HERE IT IS- Our DIY, 1897 Victorian Bathroom Renovation Reveal!! We promised you a six week complete Victorian Bathroom Renovation Before and After and we made that happen!! We are proud to have made our deadline, but what we are most proud of is the fact that we've started the road to redemption for this beautiful Victorian home. Neglected and abandoned for over 60 years this beautiful Victorian home had been crying for someone to see her faded beauty and bring her back from the brink; cue Laine and Kevin and their mobile restoration service! We see the beauty in the forgotten and strive to not just save homes, but to save the the stories of the every day men and women who lived their lives there.
We decided that we were going to tackle this rehabilitation in a slightly different way than most that we take on: one room at a time. What better room in which to begin than the bathroom? We wanted to create the Victorian Bathroom of dreams, but we also wanted to give you a picture of what an actual bathroom of the period would have looked like, and how to use that as inspiration for creating your own period appropriate bath that will never go out of style.
A period room should look like it has evolved over time; it's okay if your metals don't match, your wood shades are different, and your fixtures don't have to come in matched sets.A period room should feel like it's been there forever, be timeless, and trendless. Luckily there is a ton of source material available to study when trying to create a period bath, and study we did! We hope this video will show you what's possible with planning and determination.
We have SO MANY people to thank, but there are a few that helped us over the hump and who helped us source some of these amazing materials. NOTE: NONE of these are sponsored or discounted-these are just people who make great products or who have fabulous customer service who deserve a shout out.
-www.heritagetile.com made my Victorian Mosaic Tile dreams come true, and at half the price and half the time of "the other guys" We CANNOT SAY ENOUGH about this dream team of tile geniuses
-Tyler of Griffin Heating and Air of Monticello AR stepped in and stepped up when our electrician yeeted out on us
-a TRUE HERO, Pete of staglaneprimitives on eBay saved the day by over-nighting us another sink bracket when one lost it's nerve and cracked under pressure. He sent it THE DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING and got it there the day after so filming could proceed for you. Pete, you are an angel!
-our brother in law @mmiddleton80 who took time out of his crazy busy season to help us film this project and edit it together in the coolest way
-Brian & Mike at Lucey Plumbing (facebook / lucey-plumbing-service... ) for going WAY out of their way to solve our plumbing challenges.
-@madisonstreetsalvage from whence the amazing sinks came at an amazing price.
    -@jenifers_antiques for all things apothecary
-@themarketonmill for being friends and always having the THING we are looking for
-vintagetub.com for your cast iron tub needs
-renovatorssupply.com for the best high tank toilet
-And to the lovely people of Monticello, AR-THANK YOU for being so excited about this project and about seeing us bring Miss Melly back to life. We love being part of your community
NEVER FEAR tackling a fixer-upper. If someone built it, you can build it back. There is nothing better than an old home, and don't forget that when you save the houses you save the history.

I was picturing Kevin putting a chair and hassock in there, and falling asleep in it, while Laine takes a bath. I could picture either of them sitting in there, reading, and having tea, while looking out of the beautiful bathroom windows!

That apothecary n the tile flooring is a show stopper. Absolutely gorgeous. It’s so wonderful to see people today still appreciate the older era. Love everything you placed in this bathroom to the sinks to that beautiful lighting above. It’s all so appropriate for that time. I sure hope that who ever buys this beautiful house will love everything about it n never never change a thing.

That bathroom is absolutely gorgeous. It reminds me of a small scale mineral bath you two work beautifully together. Can't wait to see the rest of it. I'm ready to buy a plane ticket just so I can take a bath in there. That would be money well spent in my humble opinion. Too bad I don't have any. 🙄

I Loved the floor at that Spa & it was right after Lane finished Janie's floor bit by bit making the unique design. So I commented about copying the Spa floor. I didn't know you could get the same or almost same design in sheets! What A Find‼🌹

@@OurRestorationNation I love, love, love this bathroom. So nice to see restorations as opposed to renovations where everything is ripped out for opened concept and everything is painted white and gray and industrial. My only question is why you did not put a Roman or pleated shade inside those windows? I feel that a room isn’t complete without a window treatment. I wouldn’t want to sit on a commode in front of an opened window.😮😮 Otherwise this bathroom is gorgeous.😊😊

I love this bathroom. That floor tile works so well in that room. I’m so glad you were able to use that pattern. It’s so nice to see such an open space bathroom decorated so well. I don’t know if that tile would work well in a small space but it definitely does in your bathroom.

I love it! That floor is absolutely stunning along with the whole room. Now you've left us wondering which room you will tackle next. I'm still trying to figure out how anyone would take a shower in that tub, though. We have a similar arrangement on our 100 year old Sears Home with a claw foot tub and metal upper ring. I use a combination of clear and white plastic curtains, but have to have them all around to prevent water coming out onto the window, walls and/or floor.

    • @src4409
      @src4409 2 года назад

I think mine took 3 or 4 shower curtains and I had to cut 1 of them in half to fit in the areas where the ring has mounts in the way of the curtain sliding. I raised my ring up higher because it was so low to begin with and the shower curtains pooled in the bottom of the tub. It's my guest bathroom and I've had no issues with water getting out.

You had plenty of space to work with, and although the apothecary cabinet is the star of the show, I like the clever set up of the two sinks with storage between them. The room is all period-appropriate but still functional.

Watched the bath house row video. I am moving to Hot Springs Village. The floor in your bath takes your breath away. And if anyone has seen BBC " Time Team" knows how exciting it was when they discovered Roman Villas with mosaic floors covered up since 50AD. Those floors were used everyday. Today, many are still intact. This bathroom should be used as a standard for old house renovations. Your mom was right about it's the living in a house that makes it a home. I once worked with interior designers for a large, upscale department store. The floor designer for the furniture department always liked to place dog toys and dog beds into his vignettes. Most of our customers were ladies with a very special pet. So Fifi could have a custom four poster bed next to mom's.
Everytime I see the piece where you break the glass I am so thankful you seriously didn't hurt yourself.
There is an old German saying " too soon old, too late smart".
Love these videos. Love these old houses and that you and "Val Kilmer" are saving them! STAY SAFE PLEASE.

The floor! I Gree completely with making your home the same experience as a spa or destination you would dream of traveling to. You pay your Enti life for your home, one might as well have the best design they can afford. It's not hard and expensive to make something beautiful if you can visualize and dyi.
