Many artists, craftsmen, visionaries and deep pockets in the long history of this beauty. I am amazed by who ever was able to out those beautiful colors together with so much harmony. Perfect finale to the whole restoration.
Laine and Kevin, I moved from Nebraska to Little Rock in 2004 and had to leave my beloved 1873 Victorian that I saved/restored from being torn down in rural Nebraska and as soon as I landed in Little Rock I drove straight to the Quapaw Quarter and ran into this house. At this time in 2004, it was in the condition you shared earlier. I mean folks, it was rough. You literally could see right through the house. The whole sides of the house were literally just studs. Tony was there and of course, I stopped and we chatted for hours. I moved into a historic home and joined the board of the Quapaw Quarter. I adored Tony and his vision and his passion to saving this old house that even I wasn't sure it could be saved. After being in Little Rock for a few years, I moved to Fayetteville and didn't know that Tony had passed. I am so deeply saddened to hear this. Thank you for sharing this home and this story and paying such deep respect to Tony and all he loved and lived for. I am truly deeply touched. Thank you.
While Tony was so young when he lost his life to brain cancer, he was 57, not 51.
Should be a museum
This man is a hero. I never would have thought that house could be saved. Amazing work. What a way to live a meaningful life.
What I love about the old homes are the separate rooms. Each room is a surprise and a treasure as you enter it.
The modern open concept homes to me are just caverns that echo, and the lack of walls takes away ability to decorate
and use artistic things. A lot of love, research, time, and money went into restoring this amazing home.
And you bake salmon in the kitchen and the entire house smells like salmon for days.
His grandmother lived in an apartment in this building in the 1980's . He visited her there, no wonder he loved the house!
RIP Tony, your vision of this beautiful home will live on for sure..
Sincere congratulations to Tony, and condolences to Jim.
I really hope Tony had some years to enjoy the finished version of his home. The restoration is breathtaking…no words to properly appreciate the brilliance of this masterpiece. RIP Tony.
I’m having the most serious attack of home-envy I’ve ever had. 😮
My jaw DROPPED at the before and after! Bravo! He should be proud!
Those beds!! I'm not sure I could say more than you have, Laine, about each splendid room. When I heard the furnishings were for sale too, but separately, I wondered if something had happened to Tony. Glad for his sake he could enjoy his beautiful recreation as long as he did. People who don't understand restoration tell me, "Oh, you need to go have fun!" But what many consider fun is fleeting...there is nothing like the satisfaction of making something 'pretty again'. Houses and gardens have souls, I think, but only a few of us can hear their voices. That's why we're here. :)
Beautifully said.
51 years old? That's too young. 😔 What an amazing achievement that home is, and it existing at all is a testament to his dedication and hard work and vision.
He was actually 57 when he died. Tony faced the last 8 months of his life with the same unwavering constitution you see in the result here. I can hear his little tickle laugh over the inadvertent shaving of 6 years off his real age.
I'm so sorry he died. Wonderful restoration. I'm speechless.
I'm coming here after feeling sad watching a video on someone "flipping" a house and removing a lot of the charm it had. This video is exactly what i needed! The restoration is absolutely beautiful, and the respect given to the era the house is from is so refreshing to see. Beautifully done ❤️
Welcome to our happy place! No sad gray houses over here!!❤️❤️
Beautiful Restoration. The Stained glass and Newell post statues was my favorite. Far to young to pass @51. Like they say only the good die young. Rip 🙏
This could and perhaps should be a museum…..the style and furnishings are incomprehensible…..magnificent!
This is absolutely unbelievable. RIP Tony. I wish I could buy this so bad
Beautiful house. Hope next owner loves it like Tony did.
This is one of most gorgeous historic homes I have ever seen. It is perfection. It’s museum quality but yet extremely livable. My heart breaks that Tony worked so hard for so many years and passed away quite young. But, WOW, he really accomplished something amazing! I am in awe of this masterpiece.
Wow it's always like that his sacrafice is seeeeeeennnnnnn may he rip I woukd be honored to live there !
What an absolute TREASURE! To see the stunning transformation makes it even more special! A huge thank you to the people who invested their blood, sweat and tears to make this what it is today! The world is lucky this was not lost AND for being able to be featured by knowledgeable people who truly appreciate vintage homes!
God bless him for his efforts.
This was a labor of love for the gentleman who preserved and restored this beautiful home
Did anyone else's heart ache at how beautiful this house is? I'm totally Gobsmacked...
I felt to drawn to this house, my heart exploded with joy but yet sadness and I couldn’t figure out why, until I read the comments that Tony passed away, I am so sorry to Jim for his loss. This house must reflect all the beauty in Tony’s heart and soul.
Wow! Just A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. I’m so sorry for such a great loss and I truly hope somebody scoops this beauty up. Wish it was us!
Wow he did an amazing job! I feel after all his hard work hand picking out every piece to decorate that home what better way to honor him by leaving everything in its place as intended for the new owners to cherish
Holy cow!! So happy so see people using their money for this purpose. It is so heart warming. He not only saved a home, he saved history, and he saved a community. When these houses are gone the community suffers.
Stunning restoration. I’m sure Mr. Curtis will be greatly missed but his legacy - the Kirby/Curtis House Restoration will live for many, many years. Someone will be buying a beautiful home which hopefully will be filled with much happiness….thanks, again, to Tony Curtis.
What a tremendous loss. Tony really poured his heart into this home. Absolutely stunning ❤❤
That room at the top, with all the books. Tony and I think alike. It's just perfect. I am amazed he found the original table. Everything about this place seems like it's out of the past. I love the kitchen. The stair case is magnificent. Just wow wow wow. I've never seen a house so close to a demolition shape, being brought back. That is a almost unbelievable feat! The only thing I think I would have liked different is the woodwork being the woodwork color and not painted. Bravo! I'm sorry to hear he passed. He should have got to live here for at least 20 more years. My condolences to his family.
Mad respect 🙏 to Mr. Curtis R.I.PThankyou for fighting the good fight and having the vision to see it through. He did the Kirby family great honor. We need more of his kind.😊
Oh my goodness. What an exquisite piece of art this home is! Just stunning. Thank you Laine & Kevin for taking us along.
Definitely not your garden variety tract house!
May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen. 🙏 God bless you Tony.
Many many good memories there with TC. Rest in peace. Curtis / Kirby House forever.
Beautiful beautiful beautiful home. Ugh heartbreaking he passed so early. Made me cry 😭
Wow! He really did nail the authentic feelings of this house, it looks just like I'd imagine it would have looked 100 years ago. I hope that someone buys it and it's contents and keeps what he created, it's really beautiful!
Wow !!!!! Yes to no tear down !! My dream is an old home. The city loves to destroy! Love that we have humans who semi care n have cared .
When I saw what it looked like before I could never imagine it would look this elegant after. God bless! Thanks for sharing. 😊
Bless these gentleman for so importantly saving a piece of yesterday.
Magnificent! Beautiful colour scheme in every room. You see a lot of restorations but this one is in the very top tier!
Laine, I just saw the conclusion of today's video. I am so sorry to learn about the loss of your friend, Tony. The wonderful tribute you gave of him at the end of the video was beautiful and so very special. It is very obvious that you loved, respected, and admired Tony greatly as your message was extremely heartfelt.
Although Tony has departed this world, he will live on in your and many other peoples hearts and minds forever, and your fond memories of him will be ever-present when you find yourself reflecting on the wonderful times you two spent together. GOD bless!
what a lovely fairytale house.
There should be a special place in heaven for people like Tony who do this type of work,..well done,..so beautiful
My goodness. Bless that guys heart who did all this.
Tony Curtis has done a very great thing here!
For me there is nothing that I would want to change! This house is majestic & beyond beautiful. I love the colors in the kitchen as well. Laine, you always do these presentations justice & the camera work is second to none! Thank-you for giving us this amazing experience! Much love!❤️🇨🇦
I love that the house is painted Haint Blue.
Laine, you tell the story so well. Your passion for the preservation of these great place is so very contagious. Thank you for educating all of us.
Oh what a lovely jewel she is!!! Oh but Laine, how did you ever film this without lots of crying breaks? 😢 Tony’s dedication to this home is deeply moving. But I always hear that whoever buys her won’t appreciate the fabulous work and just get rid of everything. Certainly praying that won’t happen here. ❤
That was supposed to be Fear, not hear. 🤦🏼♀️
This is absolutely astounding work. What a gift to have such reliable financial backing. He left all of us such a gift. Thank you, Tony.
Oh my gosh words can’t explain how much I love this! I hope the new owners don’t destroy any of the detail and the stained glass, everything is breath taking and I love the staircase and the gas lights
Thank You Laine and Kevin for bringing this majestic tour into my home to enjoy! The respect and admiration you have for such a purist as Tony is evident, and well- earned. I hope the next caretaker does his work justice and honors the incredible statement this home is!
Grateful this beauty was saved from the wrecking ball. One of the most respectful restorations I've seen on here. So why doesn't anyone want to buy it?
It’s not that; there is some infighting with the heirs
Tony and his partner did a fabulous job on this home, I'm sure it took a fortune. It's a little museumish for me, I like them with a mix of furniture. I looked it up, its really not a bad price
What a magnificent home and meticulous restoration. I hope the new care takers also purchase the furnishings. Just a gorgeous home 😍
I just saw this home on Instagram the other day and was blown away by every square inch. I think my favorite room has to be that book nook at the top of the house. So sad to hear someone as driven by restoration as Tony clearly was was taken so soon from us. I think this house is definitely a statement to his legacy.
Wow, Laine you are so right about the "Greatest Restoration Ever!" and I wish I could be the next caretaker of this magnificent piece of property. Mr. Curtis was a genius when it comes to details, and I believe you and Kevin are right up there with him. It's so sad that he had to leave us so soon.
An absolutely beautiful home. Hope whoever purchases this house will love it the way he did. Thanks for the great video’s. 😊😊
Whoever buys this is a lucky person indeed!
STUNNING EXCEPTIONAL!!
I was drooling over the furniture. What an amazing job Tony did , may he rest in peace, so very sad indeed, but his love and legacy live on in the home. The only tiny detail i noticed , easily changed, is the Artwork in upstairs bathroom, Marilyn is from the 1960s. Incredible that house is being sold at such a low price, maybe combined with furnishings will be appropriate. A home/ restoration like this should easily be 1.5 or 2 million or much more. I think its worth it . Deserves a very serious passionate new owner for sure.
Thank you for sharing .
The Marilyn Monroe print was a gift from a friend; he had to display it somewhere. He actually had a number of “whimsical” pieces, a lot of them were hidden in plain sight.
The transformation!!! Amazing!!!
So sad to hear that Tony has passed away - much too young. But, he brought his dream to fruition and it is just stunning and perfect. I hope the next caretakers will love it as much as he did.
What an outstanding restoration of a very beautiful house.
What an outstanding restoration and recreation! I especially admire the bold but tasteful use of color in the decor--it takes talent and vision to achieve a cohesive whole, and they nailed it. Every room is like an individual painting in itself. Thanks for sharing this outstanding home with us. 🙂👍
Tony did this beauty proud! I am sure his spirit will live on in the Kirby Curtis house. It is GLORIOUS. ❤
I wish I could buy it, it’s absolutely beautifully done and with everything included in the price, it’s a deal!!!
This is hands down the best house you have shown to date!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow, no words to describe this one. Magnificent!!! The next caretaker is going to be truly blessed. Thank you so much for the share!!!!
I LOVE the colors of the kitchen!!! I love that shade of green, and I love green and yellow together!! The stairs..... there are no words!
Tony used that color some where in every house we owned - we just called it "Tony Green". Using it on the kitchen cabinets in 1221 was definitely a repeat.
This is such a beautiful house. I absolutely love the colors used on it. Houses like this make me wish I had money to spare and buy this beauty.
So beautiful... This house was rebuilt with love, so inspirational! What an amazing legacy for Tony Curtis, bless his soul ✨ Thanks for sharing it 💖
Absolutely incredile dining room. The front doors are to die for. The outside looks as if it was designed to be a gingerbread house. This is probably my favorite home you have showed us. Magnificent. ❤
What a beautiful legacy Tony Curtis left with that gorgeous house!
What a great home, thanks a million for the wonderful tour, hopefully someone will love this home and preserve it for future generations.
Such an incredible masterpiece!! Thank you for sharing this home. God bless Tony's loved ones! So sorry for their loss!
So sorry about your friend! He put much time and love into that pretty home, he was too young to pass. May his memory be a blessing to you both.
What an incredible re-working of a building. The style, the colors and attention to detail. Everything works. Tony definitely had style and a vision. Good on him.
This home is a masterpiece!
Absolutely stunning!
I cant imagine how expensive this house is especially with all the furniture ! !! 😲😭🤑 Its stunning !! I'm glad the home comes with a period looking like kitchen with modern comforts
This is my daughters and my absolute dream home…every inch is breathtakingly beautiful. It’s so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes…we could live here happily ever after.
This reminds me of when we visited Hearst Castle in 1973, amazing detail!
Absolutely stunning. His attention to detail is exceptional. I'm blown away by how low the list price was. Thank you for sharing these treasures.
Oh how sad that Tony died. His restoration of this house was such a gift.
We pray the next people to own this Beautiful Home carry on what Tony has started in this home!!!!
Absolutely breathtaking! I am ready to move in but I want all the furnishings too! Thank you for sharing this GORGEOUS home with us all. I hope the new owners continue Mr. Curtis's dream. Much love.
This may be my favorite hands down. I have watched twice and there may be a third. There are so many exquisite details in every room, a candy store full of goodness. Thank you for sharing.
SO joyful to see this transformation.
My grandmother had chairs 🪑 n her dining room similar to these dining room chairs.
What a glorious home. Thank you for sharing it. And yes, I hope the name becomes the Kirby Curtis home. ❤
It’s fabulous! I love everything!
Oh, those colors on the exterior--just exquisite.
Love the before/after photos
The home is a testament to his life and his passion!
What a stunning, stunning home!
Can you imagine how little we would have if everything was left up to small minded people with very little artistic appreciation. The loss of magnificent buildings is shameful. Thankfully this house has been treasured
Looks like I’m gonna have to play the Lotto 🥰. TY for showing this magnificent home and TY to this Magnificent man, whose vision changed this town called Little Rock and its beauty.🌸🌺
Tears of joy and reverence! The Kirby Curtis House is breathtaking! Thank you for sharing this Resurrection with us.
How tragic that Tony's life was gone at such an early age! God rest his soul!
What a gorgeous restoration! I love all the beautiful tile work, all the meticulous details throughout. Such an inspiration!
No way that is the same house! 😳Beautiful restoration!
Absolutely astounding!!😀😀
This is incredible!!! Mind blowingly beautiful. I cannot believe how incredible that turned out
