    Guangzhou south Station is not even the biggest train station in the city. There is a newly built Baiyun train station in the north west part of the city. It is the biggest train station in China if I am not wrong. And the train station has a huge 30 meter high platform it feels like you are in the underground. There are also apartment shopping malls and business offices in the train station. The train station is also a realist property. But currently most of the shops are still seeking for tenants.

    I enjoy your take on China, thank you for showing us the different local scenarios and not just a typical tourist spot.
    I'm pretty sure I saw a past video where you were embarking on your 2nd China trip, this time with a handheld translator... did it not work out? I'm asking because I saw you struggling communicating with the kids in this video and one of those devices could have made your interaction so much more pleasurable - IMHO.
    Myself, I don't speak Mandarin other than Hello and Thank you, and I was in 5 cities in China with my handheld translator and it was a game changer - it was my BEST purchase ever prepping for a trip. It was so much easier than using a phone APP, and I didn't have to keep looking down into my phone - I could keep my face and eyes up focused on the person across from me rather than have to keep an eye on my phone screen, because I do enjoy interacting with the locals, especially the curious children who are fearless enough to approach me.

      I'm not working for any company but Timekettle's T1 mini is the bomb! - the mini version not the regular bigger model. I wore it around my neck the moment I stepped outside my hotel room in China and I was able to chat with anyone- from the hotel staff to the drivers to the storekeepers to the kids on the street. Helped me out so so much because I do like to interact with those around me. I liked this particular model because it's light weight and small and had the necessary attachments to wear it around my neck so i didn't have to put it in a pocket plus it has a telescopic cord so that I can extend the reach out to the other person to see and hear. At a second's notice I could grab my translator and start using it without fumbling into pockets to look for it. And with the dedicated button for talk mode i didn't have to look down to the device each time I used it meaning I kept my head up for eye contact when we talked.
      In fact all my China vakay photos showed a turquoise ribbon around my chest area which was the T1 mini hanging from my neck.
      I'm going to take it with me to other foreign countries from now on. I'm also using it now that I'm home to help learn phrases in Spanish because that's the language I want to learn. What a great buy!
      I know it sounds like I'm a rep for this company lol but I promise I'm not. It did take my enjoyment of China up many notches, that's for sure.

    • @dragongirl266
      @dragongirl266 Месяц назад +2

      I'm passionately promoting a handheld translator because I identify with you as a chatty and curious person with an expansive mind... and it must be frustrating not being able to communicate easily when the locals are so friendly and want to engage with you.

Sometimes later they will be joined by Guangzhou Baiyun (or North). They all are quite far apart from each other but linked by metro. These stations are built not for acclaim but really needed as Guangzhou is earmarked as transport hub for the Great Bay Area covering tens of major cities like Hong Kong and Shenzhen and those second-tiers plus hundreds of third / fourth-tiers. The skyline of Shanghai is also the real China. The palaces in Beijing are also the real China. The Great Wall is also the real China. Don't you mean that you would like to see a poor rural village? Not all rural villages in China are poor. IMO, if it is in China it is the real China. However, foreigners want to see a poor rural village because that to them is the real China. Keep in mind that China never had endless colonies like the UK to make it wealthy. Language has some weird rules and that includes Chinese. When you count to two you say "er,", however when you want two of something, you don't say "er", you say "liang". Its easier to just say (number) ge. So if you want one (of something) you say "yi ge," if you want two its "liang ge", not "er ge" and three is "san ge," and so on. The number two is the exception. Its just one of the weird rules all languages have.
