I'm about 17 hours in and having an absolute blast. Not even a fan of this genre. This is the most fun I've had in any game for a long time. Playing on Q2
I didn't think Sanzaru could top the first game, but it's actually better than the first in my opinion, despite the visuals taking a slight cutback, but even then they still look really good.
I agree, I keep seeing people more upset that people compare this game to HL:Alyx, and seem more like butt hurt Valve fan boys. I loved HL Alyx and think both games are great, but to have some hidden agenda that causes you to bash this game because of that one is nuts. This game accomplishes things the Alyx did not do, and Alyx did the same, they are different games. One thing I think can not be stressed enough is that the melee combat mechanics seem to be the best I have see done in VR, complete with mixed cut scenes that will just blow your mind, similar to a God of War games but in VR, and the Graphics are not as good, but the art style is great and it is fine, just as I love Zelda as Well as Doom the art styles are different and the games fit the style.
@@6DOFReviews you never do! I don’t expect perfection, or non-subjective reviews, as no one can do that. All I ask for is honesty and integrity, which I know you guys are all about! Kudos to you for being (imo) the best VR reviewers out there!
I'm like 10hrs in, this game is insane. So many features and things to do. I like the side missions collecting items for certain characters, exploring every nook and cranny, solving puzzles. Graphics are incredible for standalone, and the fighting they all have their different styles. Now that I know it can be done. I would really really really want a Red Dead VR game.
What an excellently written review. Your reviews are, hands down, the very best VR reviews around. Thank you so much for your work, and please consider a podcast so I can listen to it at work. Enjoy the holiday break everybody.
And what a wonderfully kind comment to leave! Thank you, Jonathan, and you’re very welcome :) I don’t think any of us have ever setup a podcast before, but perhaps we can look into it, although my first impulse is that with games, people would always want to see the gameplay for it to complement what they’re hearing?
That's what I thought, and what most videogames podcasts get wrong, but podcasts like The Back Page or My Perfect Console nailed the tone and are hugely entertaining. Give it a try!
Good review. Im barely scratching the surface of this game, but so far its really impressive, especially for a standalone game. I come from pcvr been in it for a long time, and i can honestly say this game is right up with tue best Vr games ever made. Need more devs like Sanz
Great review and I agree it's a real gem of a game, a system seller ! I played the OG Asgards Wrath 1 back when it released, and AW2 improves in the first on so many ways; it's just great. Question - what do you think of UploadVRs 3/5 score ? It's bewildering
Thanks :) As for the UploadVR review, I just read it now to answer you and got the impression that the reviewer was essentially blaming it for not being some other game he wanted it to be rather than judging it on its own merits. But to each his own, reviews are inherently subjective, no matter how objective we try to be.
Well, the subject matter being chasing after an ankh, "possessing" a sinner (like you were a demon) left for dead, and dismembering limbs was all jarring and felt wrong to me (and hopping out of the possessed sinner, seeing Im a giant all-seeing eye was creepy the first time), but I'm trying to look past that a bit farther to see what the fuss is about, as I hear it's bigger than I'm expecting it to be. Probably is, and I hope to enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying Assassin's Creed, which as of writing this, I favor.
Great review as always! I'm not a particular fan of the genre, the last rpg game I played was Skyrim, but I definitely agree with the review. I'll add that sometimes it feels a bit slow, but I have to remind myself that not every game is Hellsweeper. I'm glad they have the companions as it would be slow and lonely wandering around the desert without them! Keep up the great work!
For all intents and purposes a 9.5 from us is effectively a 10 since we don’t think any game should get a 10! We consider 10 an aspirational target for games, not so much something any game can achieve since it can always be argued that any game, no matter how good, could be made better :)
Thanks for looking at this through standalone goggles (no pun intended), I like so many others have never and probably will never experience pcvr so it means nothing to us. I know it was prominent at the birth of vr but thing's evolve , just like how your channel appears to be doing , great review
You're not even missing that much, if anything. Not graphically anyway. Yes, the first game looks a lot more clear with higher resolution textures and stuff like that. But AW2 is still looks so good that you forget all that within 10 minutes, and what you get in it's place is a scale that the first game never reached. This game's environments feels a lot bigger to me than anything in the first one... so I wouldn't even outright say that the first game wins graphically all around, standalone puts up a good fight.
Great work boss thoroughly agreed all around. I had no expectations of liking this game and I’ve fallen for it harder than almost any other game. I actually think I enjoy the Uncharted Rifts so much they’re going to need their own video.
Great review. I was waiting for the review from you guys, and I am glad to see that you are not disappointed in the game :) Do you think it is worth finishing the first game before starting AW2? Or maybe, even, finish AW1, wait a bit before starting AW2 to avoid repetitive gameplay feeling?
Thank you! And we’re absolutely flattered that you were waiting for our review :) I’d never argue that it’s NOT worth playing AW1, but AW2’s recap means you don’t really have to in order to fully enjoy AW2. If you do go ahead and finish off AW1 before playing 2, I see some wisdom in perhaps waiting a short period between the two, yeah. Both to avoid some gameplay fatigue and to avoid possible graphical whiplash in the transition from PCVR to standalone!
Great review chaps. To be honest, I find the thought of a 60 campaign extremely daunting, but the hours are flying by. It is not often I think about a game when I am not playing it, but this one has certainly got its hooks in me. It is not often I have the urge to binge play a game, but this game is severely testing my batteries! The art style is not my particular taste, but I can't help but marvel at the scale, grandeur and attention to detail. The story is not my particular thing either, but it does not get in the way of the fun. Asgards Wrath 2 is brilliant. Shame on you Upload VR.
Thank you :) I wouldn’t knock UploadVR to be honest, game reviews always carry a certain amount of subjectivity. One of my favorite games on Quest ever is The Under Presents, for example, and I know that’s probably a niche opinion. But yeah, AW2 is fantastic, even if the 60+ hours do seem daunting! Hell, Pete’s been having a blast with Uncharted Rifts, and might end up spending 10 hours or more in that mode alone :)
It’s no 10/10 (and my Egyptian buddy is Big Mad about how they portrayed the Nile Pantheon), but it’s a lot of fun and probably the best VR release since Alyx
We never score a 10 anyway, although if we did, Alyx might be the one game that we’d consider giving it to :) But overall, and as a provisional score, we really felt AW2 does a lot to get as close to that as possible, especially with the presence of the Uncharted Rifts mode, which Pete was just telling me the other day he’s have happily scored an 8/10 on its own and would have gladly paid $25 for :) As for the depiction of the Egyptian Gods, well, some come out better than others. As a huge fan of Norse mythology, I winced at how some of the Norse gods were portrayed in God of War, for example, but I forgive games much more artistic license than I would a more academic medium :)
imho someone needs to play the whole game (or at the very least >80%) to give a review. Great video nonetheless. I would give this game a 10/10 if i disregard all the annoying bugs i've encountered
Normally, that’s what we’d do, but considering how long the campaign is, and that we just got the game a couple of days before release, we felt it was best to put something out for viewers who like to have our take on things, but that’s also why we explicitly consider it a provisional or in-progress review :)
Asguards wrath 2 isnt just a triumph for senzaru games, but a triumph for VR as a whole. Also never in my life would i personally put arizona sunshine 2 in the same league as asguards wrath 2 snd AC nexus. I played arizona sunshine 2 on psvr2 snd it just was so buggy. No boss fights, could barely carry things you crafted so the need to scavenge to Craft was made unnecessary. The climbing is horrible as it is an all Vertigo games, games… but i never played arixona sunshine 1, so with a $60 price tag and all the hype i expected a better game. Graphics were lackluster to But what kept me going was the story itself and playing with buddy the dog
@@terryg3243 Your reasoning why you find it a bit tedious was insightful too. But seriously, if you find this game tedious with so much to do and so much diversity then it's just not your style of game. AW2 is far from tedious.
I'm glad I'm not subscribed to this channel because I would be unsubscribing right now. I've played asgard's Crap 2 and it's an otter train wreck & in the last 14 hours multiple five-star reviews have changed their reviews most people not being able to access it and other spending hours downloading it just for it to crash. people please read all the reviews before purchasing this Cash grab game.
Not being able to access a game sounds like a problem with Meta servers or headset firmware issues, and shouldn’t be held against any game or developer per se. A game should be reviewed on its merits, and we had no issues installing it whatsoever. If you think a game that’s been in development for years and is literally the most ambitious standalone VR title ever released so far is a ‘cash grab’ then I’m sorry to say you’re speaking from a position of absolutely irrational anger. Have you actually played the game? Because despite saying you have, nothing in your comment is actually about the gameplay experience in and of itself. Is an otter train a train full of..otters? Also, wouldn’t unsubscribing from the channel be a bigger statement than simply being glad that you weren’t already? I’d suggest you subscribe and then unsubscribe, so that we at least feel we’ve lost a subscriber :) In all seriousness, however, we’re sorry if anybody’s experience downloading or installing the game has been problematic, but that’s likely due to it being large and their connections to the download servers being unstable, none of which can be blamed on the game or Sanzaru and none of which should impact a review of any game. If you have problems with the actual game itself, please share.
