I remember watching Faldo reel Norman in on the last day of The Masters. I was going berserk cheering Faldo on but by the end I was watching in silence because watching Norman fall apart had become a little too uncomfortable.
This doesn't belong anywhere near this list & might be the worst choice on it. First off, you could find MANY tiimes golfers lost bigger leads in the finsl round of a major championship or had worse scores from atop the leaderboard. For example, Palmer in 1966 US Open. Secondly, if you watched the usa coverage, the comnentators told viewers the risky shots Norman took when he lost his lead that he otherwise wouldn't have taken that balooned his score a little. In any case, Faldo's 67 low round of the weekend was a huge part of the final result & 19 of the 42 other final round scores would have outright lost to Faldo had they been in Norman's situation & they did their scores with absolutely no pressure of competing for anything. Lastly, since this video includes single, discrete efforts, such single billiard stroke & kicks, how many major chokes on putts are far worse. For example, I.K. Kim missing a straight in 1 ft. putt to blow the 2012 LPGA Kraft Nabisco major championship.
Norman man, so much talent but he HAD to be mentally weak...to this day I still think this is why he is so cold about tiger...the length of time he was #1, he should have had tiger like number of majors...certainly more than he does...but jack and tiger weren't choke artists under pressure, actually they loved it
@@lrn_news9171 I see what ur saying but what what I'm saying is that Greg Norman was INSANELY better than just winning two majors...dude dustin johnson had two majors, koepka had four...Greg was #1 seriously forever, the talent he had isn't appreciated and it's 100% cause of his mind...that guy was so good but just could get it done in many of the big moments
I felt sorry for Jana novotna she was well ahead of Graf in the third and final set but she was so nervous the way she was playing in her service games Graf seized the initiative and punished her opponents mistakes. She did win the Wimbledon ladies singles title in 1998 but her loss in 93 was very painful. R.i.p. Jana you are a great champion whether it's in the ladies doubles or solo.
There was an all-women's sailing team in the America's Cup a few years ago -- I believe their syndicate was called "Dolphin and Youth," and they were miles ahead of Dennis Connor in the final race of the challenger series, and choked so badly that they actually sailed upwind for a while on the final downwind leg, to try to make some speed. By heading the *wrong* *way*.
Top 10 chokes not on this list; 10. Justin Gatlin, 2015 World Championships 100m 9. England, 2019 Rugby World Cup 8. Colin Montgomerie, 2005 US open 7. AC Milan, 2005 Champions League. 6. Newcastle United, 1996 English Premiership
Biggest choke has to be Team New Zealand in the America's Cup 2016. They were 8-1 up against Oracle of USA, first team to 9 wins. They lost the next 8 races in a row... they did 'win' one race at 8-4/5 but racing has a time limit to complete the race and they finished 1-2 seconds outside that time limit so that race was void. Talk about complete capitulation!
Um…1986 World Series between the Boston Red Sox v NY Mets! The baseball going through Bill Buckner’s legs!! Hello!!! Boston Red Sox were ONE STRIKE AWAY from their FIRST WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP IN 68 YEARS! Now THAT is an epic choke.
If you would do a cricket choke, then south africa in the world cup in 1999 against australia is a better one, just needed a run, but almost got run out, then next ball run out with 3 balls remaining to lose the semi final
It was one of the clips I knew I should've included after I put the video together. I think it was because England/Windies was a few months earlier and was fresh in my mind.
Justine-Paula Robilliard I wouldn't say Australia choked, 50/50. Credit to South Africa for playing sensational & chasing it down against fair good attack too. Bits of both in my opinion but I can understand your thinking. 1999 World Cup semi final definitely was obvious one. I would even throw in the super 6 game South Africa could have knocked Australia out of the tournament (and thereby not meeting Oz in the semis) was a choke to as well for CONTEXT for the semi final choke. Australia was 3/50 chasing 270 which in those days, in English conditions was nearly impossible, especially against a very good RSA attack. Herschelle Gibbs dropped catch off Steve Waugh being the most pivotal moment altogether in hindsight as we all know.
Yeah I think that for anyone that doesn't really understand this one those four balls by the bowler were absolutely the shittest balls he could've bowled
1998 NFC Championship. Gary Anderson was perfect on field goals all season. He missed, and the Vikes went home. The Falcons played a hell of a game to win it after the miss, and went to the Super Bowl. ruclips.net/video/b0c17edmKEU/видео.html
The first one had Dan Wheldon winning the 2011 Indy 500 because Hildebrand made a mistake. Take away the mistake, and Wheldon doesn't win and later in the year does not get a sponsors exemption to race in Vegas where the promoter staged a stupid stunt offering Wheldon a million if he won the race from last place. He drove recklessly and crashed and died.
I've watched that accident in Vegas maybe 100 times. Totally serious on that figure -- no hyperbole. And I find no evidence of Dan Wheldon driving recklessly either in the run-up to the accident, or during.
How do they lose their wickets -- isn't someone nailing them down, or at least keeping an eye on them? Is burglary really that big a problem on cricket grounds?
That was due to the ball reversing and Pakistani bowlers at that time did know what to do to the ball to make it swing. After that match every one realised how potent reverse swing can be.
In the T20 World Cup final England (the team bowling) led the West Indies by 19 runs going into the final over of the match. 19 runs at that stage of the game is normally a safe margin, and some solid bowling in the final over should have seen England claim the win comfortably. England then proceeded to concede 24 runs in the next four balls, losing the game in the process.
Well played sir Nickfaldo you came from behind to win the us masters in 1996. Greg Norman had a 6 shot lead heading into the final round but he was abysmal his choice of shots were appalling from the leader who went from bad to worse during round 4. He could and should have won more than 2 majors in his career but the us masters title eluded him. In his prime severiano ballesteros won 5 majors during his career the 0pen 3 times and the us masters twice. Nickfaldo and ballesteros have won 11 majors between them because they both concentrate better.
A bit far fetched to suggest a horse choked. I would also query Van de Velde's choke. He ended up in thick rough from hitting a pole in the grandstand that was 2 inches wide with a 2 iron. If you gave him or Tiger 100 balls they couldn't repeat that...
Why don’t more of those cricket players try actually swinging the bat, and hitting home runs like that guy in the video, instead of always just bunting? Makes no sense.
Jimmy white could and should have won the world snooker title but he failed against Steve Davis John Parrott and his biggest nemesis Stephen Hendry. He also bottled it against Alex Higgins in a classic semi final match he should have beaten him that year but it was a lack of experience which cost him a place in the final. 0n his gravestone will be a message it will say greatest player never to have won the world snooker title.
