Except the "You're the protagonist so you have the ploot armor", same reason we cure Scarlet Rot with a bubblegum in Elden Ring while others suffer an horrible fate, possibly the main reason is also the time. Technically, this is just one night of hunt for our Hunter. People like Djura hunts from Old Yharnam days and he's still pretty good. I wonder how human we still are inside after the ascention to Great One.
Yeah, you can’t “actually” go hollow or lose sight of the guidance of Grace etc., gameplay plot armor is definitely there. Lore-wise, In my opinion, I don’t see our hunter retaining much humanity if they transcend at the end. It’s an interesting thought!
Still slightly dissapointed none of the big debuffs in Elden Ring dont do much other than just kill you. Am I wrong for being unsatisfied death blight only kills us?
We know how great the game is if people still talk about it even after almost a decade. Btw great video man, tbh I've watched every if not almost every vid on yt about bb and eveytime i see someone post something new about it i still will watch it
@@ytofpaws7765 absolutely, people will continue to talk about it for a long time, I think. It really is special. And thank you so much for the kind words!
I must've been too inattentive to relize that the blood that the girls "give away" to the player is actually menstruation blood. That's why I had to wait until they can offer it again. Damn. Thank you for the insightful video! I hope to see more of Souls games from you
The blood in bloodborne is not menstrual blood. The healing blood originates from the holy medium and the holy medium was Laurence, who was a man. Alfred and Gilbert comment on this explaining that the holy medium and source of the healing blood is enshrined in the grand cathedral. This is where you find Laurence's skull enshrined, with Amelia praying to it on its alter. The term in Japanese for holy medium can also be translated as Eucharist or communion, so its no surprise Laurence is often depicted in the pietas pose. He was quite literally the healing churches Christ figure. The blood specifically received from the women also isn't menstrual blood. Blood can be received from both Arianna and Adella, both women who are in the process of being impregnated by Oedon making menstruation extremely unlikely. Adeline, another blood saint like Adella, instructs you to draw the blood from a device on her arm. Making her blood definitively not menstrual blood. We also see how Queen Annalise offers blood and its via her hand or wrist. Pooling it into the players hands who drinks it on the spot. Finally Iosefka's blood is processed and refined having nothing to do with Menstruation either. Bloodborne does have symbolism surrounding menstruation. The term Mensis is derived from the Latin word for month, which can be further tied to the menstrual cycle and the phases of the moon. This a very clever way of showing the Moon Presences role on the world. The Mensis ritual is beckoning the Moon Presence which creates a Paleblood moon. This moon is explained to do two things, driving men mad causing them to transform into beasts, obviously inspired by werewolf mythology. As well as allowing Oedon to more easily impregnate women, tying the Mensis ritual to fertility. The term can also be assumed to evoke imagery around blood and the Latin word for mind as well. This is all mostly explained by the world notes, Miyazaki has also commented on the nature of Paleblood a little as well in an interview. So yeah, there is symbolism around menstruation in bloodborne but the blood in bloodborne is not menstrual blood. Its actually more accurate to liken it to semen, specifically the semen of Oedon. Oedon uses blood to empower women so that they might become strong enough to bear his children. The specific component that he seems to work through is quicksilver as that is the part his runes augment. You see evidence of this via the women who carry his runes and Ariannas pregnancy. Though its most evident via Queen Annalise and Queen Yharnam's shared goal of having a child of blood. The blood dregs Annalise uses to impregnate herself being literally depicted as semen. The Moon Presence and Oedon have an interesting dynamic in bloodborne's story. Both inadvertently exacerbate the beast plague. One through the Paleblood moon and the other by pushing men to consume blood. Both have something to do with a component in blood. Oedon with quicksilver and the Moon Presence with blood echoes. Finally they seem to share some sort of symbiotic relationship, the Moon Presence makes it easier for Oedon to create children, which the moon presence will then try to adopt, as is shown via Mergo being used to beckon her. In general it seems like Oedon is a very masculine figure while the Moon Presence is a very feminine one.
@Wile_E_Cyote Interesting observation on the dynamic between Oedon and Moon Presence. Just to clarify, what I said is not contradictory to what you say: I don’t consider the healing blood to be menstruation blood, I was talking only about the blood we receive from Arianna and Adella. They aren’t able to give blood to us on command, as they have to wait for their next menstruation cycle. As to whether it’s possible to go through several menstruation cycles during one night - of course it isn’t, but neither is it possible to conceive and give birth to a child in the same time span. We hear several times that this night is a long one, but it wouldn’t be a stretch either to say that the laws of nature are different in this world, or perhaps it’s merely symbolism again. Either way, when the blood moon descends, we can get no more blood from them whatsoever precisely because they are being impregnated by Oedon at this stage of the story. Edit: I have no idea why your comment isn’t showing, by the way, I can see it in studio
Just to be fair here, its not Menstruation-Blood. Its a Theory ,but not a Fact. Unless in the past 48 Hours an official Statement came out, then im of course sorry. Not to say it makes no Sense, its just not an official Thing. Yet
@@maliciousmisari1485 absolutely, most of the things you can say about Bloodborne’s story are a just theory. I maybe made it sound like I was stating a fact, but the thing is, most things in the game cannot be seen as a fact at all. That’s why there are so many essays regarding Bloodborne, and I love that everyone can have a valid interpretation of the events that take place!

The reason why we do not transform into beasts is because our compulsive hoarding protects us
I’m never using Iosefka’s blood vial, I’ll need it later

Dang. And I thought the moral of the story was that living in Britain just sucked..
Bloodborne is in fact just a realistic London simulator

Arianna also cannot give you blood when blood moon comes about, as she’s already pregnant at that point. Thank you for the comment! ♥️
