    The devs shouldn’t have anything to do with the “builds” per se based on items. There should be unlimited creativity permitted at the player level to provide the best user experience. There are obscure builds in d2 that are still being “discovered” which devs never even considered or thought about. I love that after playing d2 since I was a high schooler, I am still learning about possibilities and able to get creative with my gearing.

      The builds for D4 are seriously limited by a pathetic skill system that is never addressed because they keep hyping world bosses, events, and other crap that deflects from the fundamental problems of the foundational elements of the game - the skill trees and thus builds.
      Example; The barbarian skill tree is so bad that the entire tier 3 - 'Weapon Mastery' is USELESS - not one skill can be used in high level gaming... you have to make sure Berserk is up 100% of the time or your one shot - have to have 3 shouts, and then that leaves you with main skill of WW or Ground Slam skill... anything else is rubbish...
      Oh and forget tanking, as a Barb cant even wear a shield, can't throw - the chain drag is useless.... no singer, and cant even equip a bow to try something different..
      As I say, its the foundational skill tree system and skills that need MASSIVE work, and to say they have worked years on it... there is no way this game will be any good in the long run... unfortunately :(

    Trading was such a large part of my enjoyment of D2 that I am pessimistic about the effects of limiting it in D4. It allowed me to create builds that I would never have been able to make if I was limited to my own in game item find instead of having the ability to leverage that of my friends and Battlenet community members. I am currently in a "wait and see" mode with D4. I like much of the stuff I am seeing and dislike a few things that may or may not be deal breakers for me. I have not bought a Blizzard game since D2 LOD but I am cautiously optimistic about D4 right now.

    • @leagreenall5972

      Trading is not what limits the build diversity, it is the foundational skill system.... I mean for a Barb there is no shield option, so no tank... no throw, no singer, heck can't even equip a bow to try it out... its like D3, cold, soulless, and cookie cutter conformist builds :( ... and then most of the skills are useless on the 'weapon mastery' tier 3 list... so you MUST use WW or a ground slam...
      I wish I was mistaken and it wasnt so

      @@leagreenall5972 I am not a fan of limiting weapon/gear usage to certain classes either. It is fine to make using something like a shield sub optimum for a certain class but it should be left as an option anyway so people can play the way the want to play. I tried all kinds of crazy builds in the years that I was obsessed with D2. Some worked and some didn't but I had fun with all of them. Blizzard needs to realize that not every player is interested in building the most op build possible and racing to max level. Some people like to play just for fun and enjoy experimenting a lot. That is fun too.

      What I will say, is that if D4 had utilised a skill tree like 'Path of Exile', then it would have been ridiculously AMAZING.... but alas, its like a clone or worse of D3, just set up aesthetically different.

      Just some of my thoughts on your comments about trading and build diversity. One of the things I thought was a good itemization choice was that legendary powers (unique effects) can be extracted and then transferred to different items. The devs specifically said that they are envisioning the strongest items having rare items as a base item (which are tradable) and then adding effects and upgrades to them. The idea of having many of the legendary effects also obtainable (at the min Stat range) from clearing dungeons and the codex system means that people would be more likely to get a "crappy" enigma analog despite not being able to trade some item classes.

    • @stevenbitecofer6831
      @stevenbitecofer6831 Год назад +2

      @@quetzaltorres6387 That is a good point and something that I will consider. However, they did say that the Codex system will give only weak versions of the unique effects so I am not sure how readily you will really be able to make a powerful weapon or item. Not that I want it to be easy., I just want it to be possible to make something good with a reasonable amount of time invested. I will not be pre-ordering or buying on day one. We will see if the reviews and critique convinces me to give Blizzard any money this time.

    I think if you read between the lines of dev interviews, what you'll hear is that they are really holding back on what's coming to the release version so that they can hit a super aggressive update cadence. Whether they'll execute well remains to be seen, but given the sheer size of the seasonal content team, I think they are poised to make huge improvements to the game several times per year.

    Personally my biggest concern is the difficulty tiering that seems to be similar to D3. What I love about D2 is the moment between nightmare and hell where every elite can kill you and you feel the tension of moving forward. I hate the godmode like feeling off D3.

    • @alexchorel-campanozzi8275
      @alexchorel-campanozzi8275 Год назад +9

      Also the relative power scaling per level. In D2 you would start at 5-6 dmg per attack, (it very depends of the build) at the end of normal you would be at let's say 800dmg, then 1500 at the end of nightmare with good gear you would reach 3000 dmg but all this time you gain less and less dmg as you level up. In D3 you still start at 5-6 dmg then grind up linearly to several tens of thousand at level 60 then with a set you jump in the millions and with optimized gear in billions.

    • @lolkuuj6859
      @lolkuuj6859 Год назад

      @iumpieces wouldn’t say Hell/Inferno are all that difficult. Run 1-2 defensives for actual endgame play and at least %dmg reduction on 1-2 legendaries. Harlequin Crest is %DR too, etc. - otherwise just stack your %dmg modifiers and make basic wise decisions on your paragon board and Hell/Torment are just as easy as NM.

    • @AdhinJT
      @AdhinJT Год назад +2

      I mean all that is, is the scaling between difficulties. D3 change to difficulties after launch just added to MANY. Which, to be fair, was an issue of D3 at launch with the 4 difficulties vs 3. Having to play through 4 times kinda sucks. If they don't have AS many difficulties (which it doesn't seem like they do) and the jump is enough (it probably wont be) you'd still have that. You could say Oh but when I move to Hell it's a big jump, yeah well unless your rushing you probably lvl'ed up in NM before going to hell and it wasn't that big of a jump at that point.
      Well, least not till 1.10. 1.10 really fucked up a lot of balance stuff the game had going prior to that due to synergies and crazy runewords the game was balanced around all of a sudden. Plus all the immunities. So you go from Normal to NM where it's all still balanced by sane people then Hell hit's and it's all 1.10 expected crazy shit you definitely don't have yet.
      Anyway either you really like having to replay the game on the same character, or the minor difference between like 20 difficulty modes. Hopefully the less difficulty modes works out for D4?

      It's kinda like how I like the max lvl of 20 in DnD and how each level brings something impactful (in 3E-5E) but a lot of games are all luls lvl 100, and each one just kinda runs together.

I can't put my finger on a specific thing that's making me feel this way, I think it's just a little here, a little there, and all these little things add up. Also, the state of video games now is nothing like 20 years ago, all these layered in live service, cosmetics, battle pass stuff is normal now, but I'm not saying makes the game better.

  • @bh6066

    The trading of rare(base) items only sucks. When I think of trading base items, I think of finding a really sick socketed item for a specific rune word, slapping it in my stash knowing I'll get a decent mid-high rune for it that I can then trade for other goodies. It made seeing those drops exciting! I think a lot of people who are against trading just never got involved with it enough to see the beauty of it! It was fun and provided an alternative way of playing! They've basically just removed an element of fun from a video game - which is the whole point of gaming! I understand the botting aspect, but in trying to tackle this issue the devs are just diluting what makes diablo so compelling and fun! I'd sooner tolerate the bots and have more options for fun than strip away the fun for the sake of their war on botting. Misplaced priorities.

  • @juker92
    @juker92 Год назад +2

    I have to disagree on the items and builds topic, you don't need infinity or griffon's or death web to make a build work, those are high end game items that allow you to stomp p8 on chaos or baal runs, but the average player that wants to try builds really doesn't need them. Also, i expect that D4 will be far more forgiving than D2 on terms of difficulty and viability bc there are no immunes.

    the same logic that they gave when asked about drop rates can be applied to D3. You can chase primal legendaries for weeks but they don't really mean anything. I feel like this will happen in D4 sadly. Hopefully it takes at least a week to fully assemble a build and not a day.

When everything is moving fast on screen and visual feedback is low due to clutter and spell effects the gameplay suffers. Being able to clearly see what's going on and reacting to it feels much better. Having the game difficult enough to punish the player if they don't react effectively is key.

The guy with the 2h axe sort of sluggishly hitting things for 10% of it's health seems somewhat boring. I hope that when I play it I enjoy it, but watching a video of someone smashing the ground with a hammer and the screen exploding in Lost Ark or PoE is far more satisfying visually. Hopefully it feels awesome though. Either way I am excited to try it and see how it feels.

    Through direct or indifferent action, Blizzard has allowed my account to be canceled forcing me to lose my collection of games including my D3 collector edition games that I bought on release. Through numerous support ticket messages, they could not verify or prove that I, the account holder, canceled my account and could not answer my inquiries as to how my account was canceled. They closed the ticket without any justification as to why my account was closed and even suggested that it was my fault that my games were stolen. I was able to get the closure date for my account and I didn’t even have a computer at the time.
    If you value your accounts, I urge you to write to Blizzard and let them know that their account cancelation policy needs to be changed so that others don’t share my fate. They stand to gain significant revenue if they allow hackers to continue to cancel accounts only for customers to purchase games again if they want to play. This indifference to money we spend to support their company cannot be allowed to stand if they are unwilling to support us when we are the victims of cyber attacks.

    Its a hard balance, but I really hope they dont "ruin" the game for the 90% by hindering the 10% playerbase or whatever it is that bots.
    It seems like an annoying approach to circumvent botters, that you dont allow free trading.. There just has to be a better way to deal with botters than making decisions that limits player freedom. If there is an easy reachable "limit" to the amount of power a player can obtain, then sure there wouldnt be much point in botting, but then also.. is there really anything to do for the 90% of players beyond that point? I know PvP is a big thing and im also a big fan of PvP myself, but for a lot of people I imagine doing MF-runs in Diablo 2 was a huge thing becaue it had potential for them to get sick items and trade them and its just a shame if they take steps like these that ruin player freedom and enjoyment, to prevent the assholes from botting.. Id rather see super frequent banwaves or something that is more isolated on targeting botters without harming the rest of the playerbase. Paragon levels are also perfectly fine for the big grinders if they wanna put that many hours into the game, but as it stands with botters theres just no competing when theyre literally 2k paragon ahead of you a week into the season..

    If End Game Beta testing is the model, then trading will be all but non-existent.... but so saying that, maybe the release of more uniques and set items would change the ability to trade... as it stands now, it was virtually impossible. There is practically ZERO interaction with other players in this area and its VERY bad... they need a middle ground between D2 and D3, and I just can't see it happening at all.
    The World bosses and events again if similar to End Game Beta will be pointless. At the moment - world bosses only drop crafting items to socket items... and when you dont need them or cant trade them, then what? At least in D2R when DC spawns, you can do it over and gain the rewards to trade or improve what you have - with D4 and world bosses - its POINTLESS.
    What the latest limited lvl 25 beta test gave you was a false fascade, because it is all novelty and absolutely doesnt highlight the horrendous skill system and especially the paragon boards and system that is the meat and potatoes of the game... THAT has to be fixed - skills have to be worthwhile, there has to be a shake up so a Barbarian is not limited to Berserk up all the time, and the 3 shouts so he wont be one shot... there is no diversity - WW or Ground slam is all thats viable - and only with the right gear and paragon board themes.... theres not even a shield so a Barb can be a tank and sword and board.... theres no singer, throw, or even to be silly and use bows or something unique.... and all this is hidden away with limiting to lvl 25 and not even showing how the paragon works at lvl 50...
    In other words.... its all smoke and mirrors and the elephant in the room is hidden away and never addressed.

    what are you gonna do about bots?
    - we gonna completely screw the trade possibilities and change the drop rates that have kept our d2 franchise alive for 20 years even with botting all other the place.
    These limitations they are gonna put on trading are a PITA for every player that loves trading while being inefficient on botting. Essentially every game with itemization gives more competitive advantages to players that play more. And that's what bot do. In D3 they destoyed AH and ended up making top items bound to the acc, and yet the game is still full of bots.
    The items that will incentivize players to bot are the same items that will incentivize players to play. If the only items available for trading are trash, they will be trash for bots AND legit players alike, it will be as if no trade at all is available in the game (imagine D2 where u can only trade pots, arrows and chipped gems for gold). On the other hand, if legendary are bound to accs, but highly demanded components such as crafting stuff or legendary affixes are open to trade, well crafting stuffs and legendary affixes will be botted and traded. So either trade limitation will completely destroy the economy, or it will just be useless against bots, while effectively screwing legit players.

      I dont see any item shops for D3, so mission has been accomplished. As long you can trade inside a party for 2-3hours its a total fine agreement. Since it has class based loot rules you wont need to trade much, because you will find somehting for your class/char. Other then in D2 where you have been unlucky in a SSF Ladder and struggle with Progress etc.

      It might've worked for D3, but at the cost of 90% of their playerbase within 1 year. They just need to let things be and improve their bot detection IMO

      @iumpieces I don't think sales are a good comparison to make, but if you wanna go that route... you should consider the following:
      D3 vanilla was riding on the coattails of D2's legacy.
      In addition, D3+RoS sold on like 6-7 consoles so far.
      ROS sold 2.7 million in 7 days.
      D3 Vanilla sold 3.5 million in 24 hours.
      D2: LoD sold 500k in 7 days.
      D2 Vanilla sold 300k in 7 days.
      From D2 vanilla to D3 vanilla, you see this continual increase of initial sales every release (x2-x10). Then, after D3 vanilla, you've got a huge drop in initial sales.
      I'm not even gonna go off the assumption that sales are everything. The recurring active player base is what matters to us-the playerbase/stakeholders.

      @iumpieces If by D2 you mean LoD... most of those players have left to play D2:R. You can't really blame them since they did a good job updating the visuals while preserving the original game mechanics.
      So it's better to just consider D2:R.
      In that case, the daily active users is easily in the 100 thousands-millions (depending on day/time).
      Even NOW-I can't login without being in a queue.
      The game lobbies are packed with games in every difficulty, showing different results every time I refresh.
      D3 is practically desolate. In comparison, it's like it doesn't even exist.
      Before D2:R, D2:LoD might've been in the 10-thousands (as you've mentioned)... but it was also a 20 year old game, neglected by the devs, by that time. It was hard to even run it on modern PCs because of compatibility issues.
      After the devs finally put a band-aid on it, look at what it's done-and continues to do-for the community. I think the game lobby, d2jsp, twitch, and other metrics speaks for itself. 🤷

      @iumpieces Go look it up-Hell, login and start a new character in a pub game.
      Even look at Twitch: there's 4x the viewers of D2:R than DIII.
      If the time of release were reversed, it would be more like 10-20x easily.
      It's pretty much like that across the board for everything.
      If there is this invisible playerbase of people in DIII that secretly overwhelms the public community of D2:R, then perhaps their input on Player-to-Player interactions isn't that valid.

    Dbrunski can you do me a favor and asks this devs next time wtf is going on in their mind to call this game diablo 4? How is this a diablo game? Just like diablo 3 it has literally NOTHING from its previous games. Remember the good old days when games like Crash bandicoot 2 or metal gear solid 2 were EXACTLY the same as their prequel, just added new content, qol changes and maybe the one or other nice new feature. Can you ask these devs if they remember that time or they gonna ignore it for the next three diablo games? Imagine you're creating a game..."okay guys how we gonna do the trading? Full freedom like in diablo 2 right? - Unfortunally we can't, because that would mean can't implement pay2win", this is EXACTLY how they created this game. "We can't do this because that...we can't do that because this...". They put ZERO love or passion in this game. The only reason it exists is to get as much money as they can from their customers. Please ask these amazing devs these questions
