I’m so glad you didn’t completely do away with the black character. When I saw him and noticed he was black, I thought it was so dope and that card immediately became my favorite. I personally kind of like the more mysterious look of the king of spades, and as a black woman I didn’t feel offended at all, but I understand why you changed it and I’m just glad he’s still in the deck. I can’t wait to buy mine!

Please make the last Ad-card a double-back-card. This way we can use the cut version for magic tricks and on the uncut sheets we still can see the amazing artwork if we hang it on our Walls. Also I'm missing the Suicide King reference on the New King of Hearts. But big props for Changing it.
Hey Peter, so this is an idea for your deck, the “advertisement” cards that are usually included in a standard deck of bicycle cards, I’m sure we would all love a little bio card of yourself and info graphic about this love project, but also, a lot of magician decks have gaff cards as an extra card in the deck so you could do something like a double backed card or something along those lines?
This has turned into a MUST-HAVE collectors item! Since Kickstarter has goals you can add to your campaign, I was thinking maybe you can have skateboard decks as one of your goal rewards?! The art of your court cards would make sick skateboard decks. Maybe have 4 versions even (one for each suit)??! LOVE this protect my man!
My dumb brain: is a skateboard deck a type of playing card deck I am unfamiliar with. Like a deck you don't mind getting dirty or a deck with Skateboarder characters. (Pause to think). Oh! A skateboard deck! *facepalm.

Last time I ordered skateboard decks there was a worldwide skateboard shortage +covid and it took like 10 months for me to get them. I don’t know if things have changed since then, but it was a crazy long wait.
Only thing about the new King of Hearts is that it doens't tie in with the Queen and Jack as much as the other pairs does. You still have the very "spade specific" blue, and not much of the "heart specific" red, if you know what I mean. Other than that - this deck of card is going to be dope af!
An idea for your next big project... I'd love to see how you'd design a chess set. Seeing your character art in little 3D chess pieces would be so awesome! You could even do little spray paint can men for the pawns!
Yooo this would be sick. It would be very different too. He'd have to design them while keeping in mine they are going to be 3D objects which would be very interesting to see. He could get someone to model and print them too so he can paint them. Awesome idea!
I thought the idea was to avoid having ink at the edges of the card so that one couldn't tell what card it was by just looking at the edges. So wouldn't you have to modify the interconnected pip design to avoid having the image go directly to the edges of the cards?
I was thinking the printing on the edge would be an issue as well. Dropping a border is a good solution. There is some really great detail that gets close to the edge so border size will matter…food for thought.
I feel like the new heart king's clothes stand out compared to the queen and the jack. Other cards seem to have more cohesion when it comes to that. Overall, loving the project. People have been very creative with you as well when it comes to ides. Glad you could make everything work.

Hi! When you showed all the cards together I realized something: the seven of diamonds and the seven of spades have a much larger illustration than the other two. By having much more visual information, when we see all the cards together they will not look harmonious. My recommendation is that all seven cards have a large illustration compared to the other numbers since 7 is the lucky number. Cheers!

I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned this. But Subitising is an important skill gained through playing cards. It allows you to look at a formation of symbols and recognise their sum on sight. By moving the pips to be asymmetrical it affects this playing aspect of your deck
An idea for the Uncut Deck layout is that the "ten row" is in the middle dividing the Spades and Diamonds from the Clubs and Hearts. And then maybe ordered in AD, Joker, 10S, 10D, 10C, 10H, Joker, AD. As a way to centralized and emphasize the 10s. Thats if you can specify the layout but otherwise absolutely love this project can't wait to get my hands on this deck!
Ooh yeah! Especially if it could be organized so that the extra jack of spades is next to the ten of spades. It would be really cool for the tens to be the center cards in the sheet (so the AD cards to one side and the jokers to the other)

I definitely noticed the King of Spades. I wasn’t offended or anything but I was hoping you wouldn’t catch any grief over it. For what it’s worth, I think the change works and the deck is stronger for it. Keep creating.
Just a thought. I remember that you didn't want to do a full bleed because it causes chipping on the cards. But on some of the number cards, there is art that goes to the edge of the cards to make the art go-between cards. Is that going to cause issues with chipping or?
For the ad card maybe you could just do a double back for magic tricks and so you can see the back design on the uncut sheet. You could also do a thank you card or something along those lines. Also maybe on the tuck case you could have each deck numbered considering that they will probably be limited quantity, i think that would be really cool and make each deck unique.

Cards with a back then one that turns around us one of my favorite tricks to do. Thank you so much for making that duplicate card. Another ad card that would be great is a double backer (back on both sides) it makes tricks super fun and easy possible especially for starting magicians

For the adcard: what about a QR code leading to 4 short tales that give backround to each kingdom? Maybe along with some digital art? Or even an audiofile with tenhun himself telling those stories? There is so much thought going into the whole designprocess and every single suit! Would be another layer to explor among all those details!
It would be awesome to have an add card be a character actually playing the seeing the back design fanned out, and framing the bottom of the character with a hand of cards from your deck like you are playing with that character and looking over the cards. You could even have the watched sitting on the head or shoulder helping in the game. I love these cards!! Making a custom deck is something I’ve always wanted to do so seeing your awesome art coming to life on cards is so dope
Your changes look wonderful. I like that the pip characters interact. The 7 of spades is the only pip that seems a bit discordant. The snake spills over only tiny bits on 2 sides. It might need to shrink a tiny bit to fit better or expand to flow out more. Loving this design and your process. 🧡🧡🧡
There is a similar issue with the archer in the heart's artwork. The trajectory of the arrows can be seen on some of the other cards' corners and/or edges. When seen individually I can see how it would appear confusing. Keep up the amazing work though, I can't wait to get my hands on a pair!
The fact as a creator is who literally take the time to consider the racial sensitivity of certain art or meanings to a culture. Is a level of respect that is truly unmatched by anyone I have seen. This is why you have the community you do. Mad respect on Lvl 100. 👏🏾

I think the king swap works really well! I just think that he's still heavily thematically tied to your spade suit (mysterious and magical) so dropping it into the hearts suit makes him seem a little out of place. Even something as simple as changing the moon phases to hearts or something of the like could go a long way! You also took a lot of care in making sure the original king of hearts payed homage to the knife in head. Maybe you could consider tying that back in here. Super great work as always!

Hey! I totally get the change in the king of hearts/spades but the previous king of hearts had the special detail of king of hearts. He had the little head with the sword in it on the swords pummel. You should totally add something similar to the new king of hearts. Love this stuff!
Imagine a mashup with this whole Grid of cards thing interacting with each other + the biggest art collab like they did before? Each artist does his thing in one card with a bit of the next one... the next artist needs to do the next card taking the bit left from the one before him and so on...... We would have not only a SIIICK deck of cards but also a full print art when the cards are put together. OMG!!! Would be so awesooooome!!!!

Love the switch-up! It's great that you take these things not lightly. However, I think some small modifications should take place with regards to the new king of hearts. There is no reference any more to the stabbing king, which I find a pity. So changing the position of the sword or adding another Stabby McGee would be awesome. To me, the clothing style also doesn't fully match the queen and jack of hearts, but I think that might get fixed with changing some patterns and fringes (I think this is the right word for those loose ends at the side of clothing) left and right.
I’ve loved this journey! May I point out the number cards in spades characters are very large compared to the rest of the characters on the other suites. I’m not sure of it was intentional but just seems to be not cohesive. Can’t wait to buy these cards! Love you!!
Hey Ten Hundred! Love your work on this series so far. This is just a random idea I thought might be cool, but you could make a few (like 10-20) original pieces on these little card-sized papers and slip them into random decks of cards for some lucky buyers to get a small Ten Hun original. Keep up the great work, cant wait to see that final result!

I was wondering about that, too. Personally, I was hoping he'd keep it to help redefine that term (turn in from a slur to a powerful term), but I understand why he changed it. As someone mentioned though...now it's missing the "suicide" king reference, which I miss as well.
I did NOT expect the numbered cards with the characters interacting with the deck to be my favorite but I'm OBSESSED with those grids. Seriously amazing.

I think the 2nd ad card should be a representation of all of us that have collaborated. I don't know how you can illustrate something like that, but maybe a medieval plaza full of people and a king maybe on a podium reading a scroll.
I would hope that the number cards don't have that spillover effect where you can tell what cards someone is holding because I think the design looks totally dope! 😍

I love the new designs, they look sick. The hearts number cards are my favourite because the pips on them are more or less in their regular positions much more than the other three suits. I think it's cooler cause the designs work around the pips and make the card look less awkward.
I think the king of spades is great. I’m black and had no idea there was some weird history regarding that and I don’t find that to really be relevant in 2021. If anything turning it into a regal character actually could be a defiant and deliberate way of undermining what used to be a slur.
I love the name of Vivid Kingdoms. I think you’ve demonstrated them individually super well. The last ad card might be cool to draw a map of the kingdoms to bring them all together and add more to the story 👍🏻

I love the change of the kings I think the blue on his clothes contrast nicely for the red and stick him out from the rest of the hearts and to me gives a feeling of higher royalty super kind of you to consider the dm’s and messages. You’ve done so much to get this deck out cannot wait to get my hands on this deck.
Can we all just appreciate the fact that Ten Hundred actually reads everyone's comments and feedback. On top of that he makes conscious decisions to change his work based on 'stranger's' feedback. This is what makes this project so amazing. This deck is now dubbed "The people's cards"

In my opinion, I prefer how the pips are in the heart cards because the actual hearts are in the simmetrical positions of a normal deck and the characters arent in the way, in some cards its difficult to see how many pips are and the characters take too much protagonism, just a constructive criticism, I love the deck ❤️
Really like how you made the black man the king of hearts, I think it displays the idea of the Channel not including any hate to anyone and it’s really all about love and kindness. I think the heart symbol really represents that well
Maybe you could do an "Art Saved Me" as an add card. Or even an "unmasked" Watcher. Not sure what either of those would look like, but I think it'd be cool.

When you talked about the comments (3) regarding the king of spades, I have to say that I had a similar reaction as the commenters. I'm happy to see that you just didn't delete the character and instead decided to reset him. On another note, just a couple more notes: 1: should the flags on the castle be a different color than the catapult that's shooting at it? 2: is this combined art of the pips diminished when you account for the white space that should be at the edge of the cards, that you mentioned in pervious updates. I did notice some pips and key details that would possibly be cut off. 3: the additional card could be a double back. Thanks for reading, enjoying this series.

Awesome work TenHun! Just a few considerations :) Remember that with the designs you have going on with the number cards, with the art spreading across multiple cards, there is room for picking... for example, in the spades, you have a massive basilisk, that spreads between a few cards... seeing the blueish colour by the side of the card could potentially give away the value of the card and favour cheating, unfortunately :( Also, in my opinion (and also historical cards have this feature), a thinner border on the back of the cards can be a sign of higher value, higher prestige of the deck, so maybe try implementing it, also because your back design isn't much heavy on colour and isn't therefore at risk of ink bleeding. It would also be very cool to put a double back card as well as the double jack of spades and to have a "motivational catchphrase" on the joker (see Orbit's tuck case for a reference, I love that type of thing), maybe something also along the lines of Alice in Wonderland since your deck is full of little worlds with hierarchy and such Last thing, with the bean plant on your diamond cards, don't the spades remind you more of a leaf? I mean, they do to me. But anyway, this is all nit-picking, amazing art!!! Hope that this helps :)
This project is amazing and it’s been awesome to see your full process. I think the second ad card should link to a full documentary on the making of the deck. It would be a cool way for your fans to share your other work when they are showing off the deck.
I just wanted to say that you listening to 3 fans out of 1000’s and hearing their concerns, and then changing this project to fix a concern is fuckin amazing and not a lot of people would have done that. Today you earned my respect hardcore man and I cannot wait to purchase this deck.
I’m really impressed and appreciative of how you handled the spades issue. I had no idea either, but I completely agree with making the change and it actually worked out well. The new king of spades is awesome! My only thought is the center around the hand holding the sword is a bit busy. Took me awhile to visually register what was happening there. Any way to darken the body so the hand get a bit more separation? Or make the gloved hand a different color? Just a tiny bit of separation might be good. Anyway, awesome job as always! Can’t wait to get orders placed on Kickstarter!!
I think that the crossing number cards could have problems with bleed/chipping aswell as it has kinda abandoned the original pip interactions, the demonstration image was like lots of little charecters that all look the same on each card where as how you've done it it's been one big charecter per card with minimal interaction with the actual pips and it kinda makes the "special" cards feel less special
It blows my mind how deep you've gone with the back story and art for this project. I've seen ppl use spade in a derogatory way in like old mobster movies and I kind of thought that too. I knew you had no intention to use it that way, but it makes me respect you even more now that you've acknowledged the issue and fixed it. Stay safe homie 🤙

Hey Peter, so this is an idea for your deck, the “advertisement” cards that are usually included in a standard deck of bicycle cards, I’m sure we would all love a little bio card of yourself and info graphic about this love project, but also, a lot of magician decks have gaff cards as an extra card in the deck so you could do something like a double backed card or something along those lines?
This has turned into a MUST-HAVE collectors item!
Since Kickstarter has goals you can add to your campaign, I was thinking maybe you can have skateboard decks as one of your goal rewards?! The art of your court cards would make sick skateboard decks. Maybe have 4 versions even (one for each suit)??!

Only thing about the new King of Hearts is that it doens't tie in with the Queen and Jack as much as the other pairs does. You still have the very "spade specific" blue, and not much of the "heart specific" red, if you know what I mean. Other than that - this deck of card is going to be dope af!

An idea for your next big project... I'd love to see how you'd design a chess set. Seeing your character art in little 3D chess pieces would be so awesome! You could even do little spray paint can men for the pawns!

I thought the idea was to avoid having ink at the edges of the card so that one couldn't tell what card it was by just looking at the edges. So wouldn't you have to modify the interconnected pip design to avoid having the image go directly to the edges of the cards?

I was thinking the printing on the edge would be an issue as well. Dropping a border is a good solution. There is some really great detail that gets close to the edge so border size will matter…food for thought.
I feel like the new heart king's clothes stand out compared to the queen and the jack. Other cards seem to have more cohesion when it comes to that.
Overall, loving the project. People have been very creative with you as well when it comes to ides. Glad you could make everything work.
Earlier in the Series you mentioned "chipping or bleed" on the edge, won't that be a problem with the Number Cards?

They will probably be cut so you can't see the bleed. It's just the general design that crosses over that far.
He just designed it like that, when he put the number cards back in the spread they had a bleed border like the face cards

Hi! When you showed all the cards together I realized something: the seven of diamonds and the seven of spades have a much larger illustration than the other two. By having much more visual information, when we see all the cards together they will not look harmonious. My recommendation is that all seven cards have a large illustration compared to the other numbers since 7 is the lucky number. Cheers!

Hi guys - I didn't know of this, but I was wondering if it isn't even more racist to exclude black people from being the king of spades due to the wording?
I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned this. But Subitising is an important skill gained through playing cards. It allows you to look at a formation of symbols and recognise their sum on sight. By moving the pips to be asymmetrical it affects this playing aspect of your deck
An idea for the Uncut Deck layout is that the "ten row" is in the middle dividing the Spades and Diamonds from the Clubs and Hearts. And then maybe ordered in AD, Joker, 10S, 10D, 10C, 10H, Joker, AD.
As a way to centralized and emphasize the 10s.
Thats if you can specify the layout but otherwise absolutely love this project can't wait to get my hands on this deck!
Ooh yeah! Especially if it could be organized so that the extra jack of spades is next to the ten of spades. It would be really cool for the tens to be the center cards in the sheet (so the AD cards to one side and the jokers to the other)

I’m a middle-aged black dude, so I’m acquainted with the Old Slurs. I definitely noticed the King of Spades. I wasn’t offended or anything but I was hoping you wouldn’t catch any grief over it. For what it’s worth, I think the change works and the deck is stronger for it.

Just a thought. I remember that you didn't want to do a full bleed because it causes chipping on the cards. But on some of the number cards, there is art that goes to the edge of the cards to make the art go-between cards. Is that going to cause issues with chipping or?

For the ad card maybe you could just do a double back for magic tricks and so you can see the back design on the uncut sheet. You could also do a thank you card or something along those lines. Also maybe on the tuck case you could have each deck numbered considering that they will probably be limited quantity, i think that would be really cool and make each deck unique.

For the last add card, keep it simple, it’s the art that is in the back of the cards. That way the art is visible for the uncut art sheets.

It would be awesome to have an add card be a character actually playing the seeing the back design fanned out, and framing the bottom of the character with a hand of cards from your deck like you are playing with that character and looking over the cards. You could even have the watched sitting on the head or shoulder helping in the game. I love these cards!! Making a custom deck is something I’ve always wanted to do so seeing your awesome art coming to life on cards is so dope
Your changes look wonderful. I like that the pip characters interact. The 7 of spades is the only pip that seems a bit discordant. The snake spills over only tiny bits on 2 sides. It might need to shrink a tiny bit to fit better or expand to flow out more. Loving this design and your process. 🧡🧡🧡

There is a similar issue with the archer in the heart's artwork. The trajectory of the arrows can be seen on some of the other cards' corners and/or edges. When seen individually I can see how it would appear confusing. Keep up the amazing work though, I can't wait to get my hands on a pair!

I think the king swap works really well! I just think that he's still heavily thematically tied to your spade suit (mysterious and magical) so dropping it into the hearts suit makes him seem a little out of place. Even something as simple as changing the moon phases to hearts or something of the like could go a long way! You also took a lot of care in making sure the original king of hearts payed homage to the knife in head. Maybe you could consider tying that back in here. Super great work as always!

Hey! I totally get the change in the king of hearts/spades but the previous king of hearts had the special detail of king of hearts. He had the little head with the sword in it on the swords pummel. You should totally add something similar to the new king of hearts. Love this stuff!

Imagine a mashup with this whole Grid of cards thing interacting with each other + the biggest art collab like they did before? Each artist does his thing in one card with a bit of the next one... the next artist needs to do the next card taking the bit left from the one before him and so on...... We would have not only a SIIICK deck of cards but also a full print art when the cards are put together. OMG!!! Would be so awesooooome!!!!

Love the switch-up! It's great that you take these things not lightly. However, I think some small modifications should take place with regards to the new king of hearts. There is no reference any more to the stabbing king, which I find a pity. So changing the position of the sword or adding another Stabby McGee would be awesome. To me, the clothing style also doesn't fully match the queen and jack of hearts, but I think that might get fixed with changing some patterns and fringes (I think this is the right word for those loose ends at the side of clothing) left and right.

May I point out the number cards in spades characters are very large compared to the rest of the characters on the other suites. I’m not sure of it was intentional but just seems to be not cohesive.

This is just a random idea I thought might be cool, but you could make a few (like 10-20) original pieces on these little card-sized papers and slip them into random decks of cards for some lucky buyers to get a small Ten Hun original. I was wondering about that, too. Personally, I was hoping he'd keep it to help redefine that term (turn in from a slur to a powerful term), but I understand why he changed it. As someone mentioned though...now it's missing the "suicide" king reference, which I miss as well.

I think the 2nd ad card should be a representation of all of us that have collaborated. I don't know how you can illustrate something like that, but maybe a medieval plaza full of people and a king maybe on a podium reading a scroll.
I would hope that the number cards don't have that spillover effect where you can tell what cards someone is holding because I think the design looks totally dope! 😍

I love the new designs, they look sick. The hearts number cards are my favourite because the pips on them are more or less in their regular positions much more than the other three suits. I think it's cooler cause the designs work around the pips and make the card look less awkward.
I think the king of spades is great. I’m black and had no idea there was some weird history regarding that and I don’t find that to really be relevant in 2021. If anything turning it into a regal character actually could be a defiant and deliberate way of undermining what used to be a slur.

I love the change of the kings I think the blue on his clothes contrast nicely for the red and stick him out from the rest of the hearts and to me gives a feeling of higher royalty super kind of you to consider the dm’s and messages. You’ve done so much to get this deck out cannot wait to get my hands on this deck.

In my opinion, I prefer how the pips are in the heart cards because the actual hearts are in the simmetrical positions of a normal deck and the characters arent in the way, in some cards its difficult to see how many pips are and the characters take too much protagonism, just a constructive criticism, I love the deck ❤️
Really like how you made the black man the king of hearts, I think it displays the idea of the Channel not including any hate to anyone and it’s really all about love and kindness. I think the heart symbol really represents that well

The king of hearts is one of the best cards in the deck, and it'd be amazing to see the queen and jack get a mini glow up. Nothing drastic needed, just a bit more detail and drama to fit with the more recently designed card art.

i respect the way you listen to your audience so much! it’s really so cool. listening to people’s opinion about the art is one thing but also being upfront about concerns people had about the king was appreciated.
When you talked about the comments (3) regarding the king of spades, I have to say that I had a similar reaction as the commenters. I'm happy to see that you just didn't delete the character and instead decided to reset him. On another note, just a couple more notes: 1: should the flags on the castle be a different color than the catapult that's shooting at it? 2: is this combined art of the pips diminished when you account for the white space that should be at the edge of the cards, that you mentioned in pervious updates. I did notice some pips and key details that would possibly be cut off. 3: the additional card could be a double back. Thanks for reading, enjoying this series.

I was thinking this as well [referring to the Spade King card.], but KNEW that you meant no harm by it. I did feel like it could be taken a bit wrong and out of context. For those people that love art, but may not know YOU as a person/personality on RUclips, I can see how this would be a big issue. My father and I played cards all the time and I LOVE specialized card, and after he passed, I've been thinking of making a set in his honor. This series has been SUPREMELY helpful. Just a few considerations :)
Remember that with the designs you have going on with the number cards, with the art spreading across multiple cards, there is room for picking... for example, in the spades, you have a massive basilisk, that spreads between a few cards... seeing the blueish colour by the side of the card could potentially give away the value of the card and favour cheating, unfortunately :(
Also, in my opinion (and also historical cards have this feature), a thinner border on the back of the cards can be a sign of higher value, higher prestige of the deck, so maybe try implementing it, also because your back design isn't much heavy on colour and isn't therefore at risk of ink bleeding.
It would also be very cool to put a double back card as well as the double jack of spades and to have a "motivational catchphrase" on the joker (see Orbit's tuck case for a reference, I love that type of thing), maybe something also along the lines of Alice in Wonderland since your deck is full of little worlds with hierarchy and such
Last thing, with the bean plant on your diamond cards, don't the spades remind you more of a leaf? I mean, they do to me.
But anyway, this is all nit-picking, amazing art!!!

This project is amazing and it’s been awesome to see your full process. I think the second ad card should link to a full documentary on the making of the deck. It would be a cool way for your fans to share your other work when they are showing off the deck.
I just wanted to say that you listening to 3 fans out of 1000’s and hearing their concerns, and then changing this project to fix a concern is fuckin amazing and not a lot of people would have done that. Today you earned my respect hardcore man and I cannot wait to purchase this deck.
I’m really impressed and appreciative of how you handled the spades issue. I had no idea either, but I completely agree with making the change and it actually worked out well. The new king of spades is awesome! My only thought is the center around the hand holding the sword is a bit busy. Took me awhile to visually register what was happening there. Any way to darken the body so the hand get a bit more separation? Or make the gloved hand a different color? Just a tiny bit of separation might be good. Anyway, awesome job as always! Can’t wait to get orders placed on Kickstarter!!
I think that the crossing number cards could have problems with bleed/chipping aswell as it has kinda abandoned the original pip interactions, the demonstration image was like lots of little charecters that all look the same on each card where as how you've done it it's been one big charecter per card with minimal interaction with the actual pips and it kinda makes the "special" cards feel less special
It blows my mind how deep you've gone with the back story and art for this project. I've seen ppl use spade in a derogatory way in like old mobster movies and I kind of thought that too. I knew you had no intention to use it that way, but it makes me respect you even more now that you've acknowledged the issue and fixed it. Stay safe homie 🤙

The other add card could maybe show a map of where all the suit kingdoms are. You could do an old world treatment of the map (rose compass, scary sea creatures, etc)
