This. Is why I watch cammy. This entire rant is so insightful and I am very glad that cammy is talking about it. There are many issues with destiny, but at the end of the day, if I’m having fun I come back to play it more. I wish other people could understand that sentiment

Personally for me the best shooter is and will forever be Halo 3. For me adding more and more movement to a game takes away from being a better shot. Look at COD:AW you could wall run and jetpack jump and all that, it was almost a pure movement game because if you couldn't do all the tech moves no matter how good your aim was you wouldn't be able to keep up with the guy running full speed on walls beaming you. Halo 3 had that nice balance of fair movement with a few cool tricks and then all skillful aiming and weapon/map knowledge. I remember winning a $100 local tournament back in the day, gone are those days when I was considered good simply because of all the extra stuff in games now.
Man I wish respawn still cared about Titanfall 2 or at least are having Titanfall 3 in the works Only things I don’t like about Titanfall 2 are more on the basis of an individual weapon (ie: the Car) I think Titanfall 2 is like 5 dollars rn if anyone wants to buy it
"I am choosing to tank my build to be able to make these high skilled plays, and yet there's still arbitrary systems of flinch, screen shake, melee teleportation, and gimmick builds that completely override doing everything right *and* being more skilled than your opponent. That's the part that needs to go." I have put thousands of hours of playtime into PvP alone with the sole intention of improving, and this right here is the exact reason why I can't stand to play the game anymore. It feels like I've wasted all my time trying to get good at the game, just for Bungie to lower the skill cieling significantly and drag me down with it. When you think back to even just the Forsaken days, good players could carry anyone using anything they wanted. Nowadays, the quite literal best players in the world are forced to run meta loadouts just to have a chance of carrying someone with any form of consistency. It feels like skill has been completely thrown out the window at this point. I have many qualms with the game (I still love it in general), but this video sums up a lot of it perfectly. A legitimate thank you for all these great videos!
So incredibly well put. I so much hope the devs see this vid and the comments because as someone who’s been playing since 2014 I love Destiny PvP, even if I suck at it, this puts my feelings into form.
Same here bro I got 4k hours or so in the crucible. Its the new entitled generation for the most part. Stems back to not wanting to put any effort into anything they just want the rewards. Sorry but that's not how life works I'm afraid. I grinded against the meta for years and the day I embraced it, my kd shot up well above 2.0 it was mental😄 the columination of honing my skills for years then adding cheese to it was immense
"Why would you want people to be able to get into a game mode? Sounds dumb lmao, PVP should only appeal to no lifes" A good player SHOULD never be able to carry a team on their own, that's why it's a team game. I'll agree on skill ceiling being lowered, but your reasons for why that's bad are completely wrong on a game design level
I used to try at this game, back when I felt it somewhat mattered… to a point. But then Bungie just massively increase the skill floor and bulldozed the skill ceiling. When the house is that cramped, it doesn’t matter how seasoned you are, everyone is contorted whether you started playing 6 months ago or 8 years ago, everyone is forced to be the same and anything can happen in an engagement.
@@tako_shop hes thinking of it like a vertical line, the floor was brought up closer to the ceiling and the ceiling was brought down closer to the floor
The flux nade bit is me starting to use Lightning nades on Titan. I basically never used them since redwar (to a point I didn't have the achievement for kills with them), But now?! The sheer glee of sticking a nade at a weird angle to zap someone has me cackling even if I get curb stomped.
Fastball is a must for me with any of those types of grenades. Idk why but if I don't have fastball on I always see the nade sticking out in some weird lopsided angle that hits nothing, but with fastball on it does what I want like 90% of the time.
this is why I run Young Ahamkara's Spine but nothin will ever be more demoralizing than the geometry gods just telling you to piss off and your grenade ends up aiming everywhere but where you were trying to aim it when it landed
@@joshtenney4143 I actually intentionally dont use fastball! Because it prevents you from lobbing the Spicey Sticks over closer range cover. It took me a dozen or so games, but if you reframe your mind to think in arcing paths through a 3d space, instead of just using your vision, I found that there were honestly more opportunities and places to stick them too.
I'll always watch Cammy because he has the most nuanced takes on Destiny entirely. Both PvE and PvP. He keeps in mind the entire playerbase and not just one end of the spectrum when giving his feedback. This video is a perfect example. He goes into great detail explaining why the current sandbox isn't enjoyable and gives examples of times when the game was much more balanced. A few things that I will have to disagree on, however: • Year 1 may have been the most balanced PvP sandbox (which I'm not disputing, I agree with) but I don't think it should have come at the cost of the entire game having double primary. PvE was such a snoozefest due to double primary era, and we saw incredibly low player populations because of it. Had Bungie found a way to allow specials in PvE but ban them from PvP I think we would have been in a much better spot sandbox wise for both PvE and PvP • Last point I'll disagree with. I doubt that AE was introduced due to the movement outliers i.e: Stompees, Dunemarchers, etc. If they wanted to nerf those specifically they would have done so instead of going through the effort of making a brand new stat, applying the new stat to weapons, creating fragments that built into it, etc. No, my guess is that AE was introduced because of Strand being developed. Having the ability to zipline through the air with perfect in air accuracy would have cannabilized the crucible and every other subclass would see little to no usage since everyone would be using Strand for movement tech.
THANK YOU! I am by no means a god at PvP but I'm not awful and I don't think you missed a beat at all. People need to recognize that even if this game is supposed to have wicked power fantasy the build crafting isn't rewarding enough when you can put on one exotic or ability and it carries you to flawless or whatever you consider "high level PvP" there's always going to be outliers but the current ones are way too drastic and you don't have to agree with someone on what's "the most skillful way to play destiny". Cammy plays with some aggressively wild builds but the average player that's tired of losing isn't gonna put that time in when the jank is SO MUCH EASIER to just throw on in DIM and win. I don't care what anyone says ALL enhanced melee lunge needs to go, I don't care what gives it to you on top of that the jank ass net code needs to be fixed because inconsistent melee and hit registration has been a problem since the game came out, I'm over it.
Enhanced melee lunge isn't the issue, it's purely that the netcode doesn't work right. You have people teleport, melee's not register and straight up moments where you just do zero damage with a melee or don't lunge at all. The only saving grace is every class can do it and suffer from it. I'd rather they balance the core game first though, weapons, builds, abilities all need to be reworked to stop these two gun meta's from happening, where only a handful of weapons of a specific weapon type with specific perks are even good and if you aren't using them with a certain build everyone else who is will beat you no matter what you do. Fix that shit first then go around and work on stuff like melee and matchmaking and AE.
@@burns0100 you're right about the other stuff needing to be fixed too but if melee's are already extremely inconsistent the extra melee lunge stuff isn't doing anything but making things worse.
As a huge fan of movement shooters, and a "movement kid" hailing from the UT99 / Quake III era: wholeheartedly agreed. I also just think that games are more fun when tactics and strategy actually matter at least a little bit, e.g. Battlefield, Tribes (which is also a movement shooter!), etc. I'm not saying that Destiny should become Battlefield or Tribes-far from it!-just that it would be kind of neat to have skill matter a bit more, and I'm saying that as a thoroughly mediocre Crucible player. I also find it very hard to consistently improve a lot of aspects of my gameplay when there are just so many different "bullshit" ways to lose an engagement! Also: D2Y1 Crucible was Good. It felt a bit _too_ slow starting out, but IMO the teamshot meta was actually cool, and once the "go fast" update hit, I think it was in a really good place. I think it'd be really interesting to see the TTK increase just a teensy bit.
I was a console player in year 1, but it was probably the period of Destiny that I had the most fun in. That, and early Forsaken. I always try to tell myself that I'm just bad, but when I carry my team and end up with the highest performance simply to lose, it's a bit annoying. Besides my aim being not warmed up due to having cold hands, I find that most times I die are due to things like my character getting stuck on a literal pebble on the ground, breaking their ankles jumping too high, getting TTK'd to death at full hp while peaking to take a single hand cannon shot, or getting sniped through flinch despite using high caliber rounds on my primary, and the one time I pull off a perfect movement sequence into what's supposed to be an advantageous position, I somehow get meleed from like 5 meters away because the opponeny is apparently Dio from Jojo 's Bizarre Adventure. Honestly, I'd be fine with slower TTKs at this point. And while we're at it, we could make it so that you don't spawn with special ammo, or at least you only spawn with enough for 1 kill, and additional ammo could be obtained through the old ammo crate system.
Only Cammy could basically say “I wouldn’t lose a single match if this game was balanced” and I’d absolutely agree with him. Never thought about how increasing TTKs across the board would honestly help with both balancing and connection differences weapons but damn the cam just always be educating us out here.
I also 100% agree on fun coming first and putting a challenge to yourself to make it happen. I am 100% Titan and I never see anyone running severance enclosure but DAMMIT I just love things exploding when I punch them and they’re my favorite exotic PvP and PvE hands down. The rare severance enclosure collat is elusive and the radius seems ABYSMAL compared to the how far dunes take damage but MAN it just scratches that fun itch for me no matter how hard it is.
"movement kids" are just the younger generations competing with the older gens. The older gens arent going to master new skills like movement, they are going to play the game like they always have. But the younger gens are mastering new techniques like slide cancelling, dropshots, etc. Eventually they will be the norm and the old gen gamers will quit playing or become much less.
When I think of movement in shooters TF2 Instantly comes to mind. So many different ways of using movement in ways that do help with whatever game mode your playing (e.I, sticky/rocket jumping, trimping, b-hopping. Etc)
The closing statement about strand is something I hadn't even thought about yet. All 3 classes will have access to a grapple hook ability to use wherever, whenever. Who in their right fucking mind will use that shit in pvp if AE remains in this current state? Don't even get me started on how the titan subclass is yet another "punch shit until its dead" melee based super instead of a desperately needed projectile-based or one and done, and will likely never be seen competitively unless it has good movement.
Hey, movement kid here. I’m a recovering Titanfall 2 player and I love this game since the old one got dropped like harder than Bill Cosby’s contracts. D2’s current state, even for an extremely mediocre player like me, is pretty painful since it deters both ends of the game, both movement and gun skill. There’s no place for me to practice speed since control is either a mess of bum-rushing sidearm spam or pulse jockeys on long lanes. Not saying it’s incorrect to play that way, but rather it pushes me to play the same way or be locked out. Unless you can really cut out a niche in terms of off-meta plays, it’s tough to keep the experience fresh when you’re playing at the speed of a 6 y/o on a trike.
Agree with just about everything said but if we want to talk about low effort high ttk weapons Bungie needs to look at high impact pulses. Too safe and easy to use for what they can do.
ophidian exists specifically to buff the “snakebite” shotgun-melee tech. removing the extra perks to make them similar to synthoceps or fixing the teleporting melee would be more ideal.
Yeah, I’d rather have melee interactions improved than just remove it altogether. I’d certainly be satisfied with the compensatory buffs to Ophidian that Cammy mentioned if it meant the melee range increase was gutted, but that kinda implies melees are always gonna be a problem so nothing should be done about it.
I think a good change if they removed the melee range that every warlock would be happy with is if instead it increased your rift placement speed by like double or more so it would only take a half second or less to place and they barely heal anymore so honestly, they should be at half a second placement speed already imo
@@azzor4134 You may find what I’m saying to be weird, but think of it this way. My point is that melees have historically had messy interactions in PvP scenarios (even in D1, I think), and anything to buff their range makes the messiness feel more noticeable. However, the approach some people believe in is to not let bonus range be a thing that much instead of agitating for base melee adjustments. That’s what I’m getting at. So yes, I obviously know it’s common sense. However, I guess the logic applied here (not by me, but by some other people) is since we’ve had messy melees for over half a decade, there probably isn’t gonna be a solution because it’s either too complex to fix or because they’re not sure what to do or because other issues are constantly prioritized or whatever else. That said, I can understand why some people think this even if I don’t agree with it. It _is_ easier to just remove something than to completely overhaul an entire system, after all.
The slide cancel snap with warlock is absolutely possible on controller and it’s so much fun (even more for controller players such as myself who don’t have much movement possibilities normally). I hope it doesn’t get patched
Love your content. I can see the direct correlation from this video and when you streamed and people were commenting on the FrostBolt video. Where you DIRECTLY referencing being/winning in the MOST competitive Destiny sandbox at the PROFESSIONAL level, when people were stating you "just cheese" and have "never been/played pro". It is a breath of fresh air when you just reference making your own fun in games. Keep being you man, I will forever be a fan. Also as a side note: You mentioned flux nade being rendered non-1shot with ANY amount of OV (Titan Barricade OV). I would like to point you to Solar Titan Consecration where ANY healing WHATSOEVER will basically make any play you make with it suicide. Healing rift, OV, healing nade, etc tanks it. Also you can short hop (0 double jumping required) over EITHER of the swipes (upwards or down slam) while Hunter slide melee/warlock slide melee has a crazy amount of Z axis reach. /endrant. Again, thank you.
Quick note that SMG's DO work with the first slide cancel trick! Weapons that are visually held upright while sprinting (hc's, sidearms) don't work, but all weapons that are visually held down while sprinting do work.
what you said for OS's vs Flux grenades is my exact gripe with throwing knives vs. OS's. It can be argued how much skill a weighted throwing knife takes, but a headshot with one should not be negated by a 10% damage resistance or Overshield health
@@Michael-ne2bl Hence why I state, it can be argued how much skill it takes to use them. I absolutely agree, the AA that they now get is insane. But I'm still of the opinion that 10% damage reduction or Overshield should not at all tank a headshot from them
@@Michael-ne2bl did you play much when they revamped the solar classes and introduced that knife? God it was ridiculous. Actually really hard to believe there was a time when they were even better than they are right now lol
and even as someone who consistently gets only 1.0-1.7kd on matches i can still say that this meta we're having is bs, like i want to lose and feel like i can improve by learning what my opponent is doing, what i can do to counter it, and what i can do to help my team, this meta we're having is like "uh oh you used the spacebar guess you lose that gunfight" or "woops the enemy warlock used dead messenger and is now going to kill you in .3 seconds from now"
I defend ophidian because warlocks are bad but with the understanding that they should be nerfed after bungie decides to fix up warlocks. Bungie has a history of just nerfing the one thing that makes an under preforming set usable without giving them a replacement untill many updates after. The most recent example of this was lorley, being the one thing that made solar titan feel special and effective, needed through not only the exotic itself, but sunspots as a whole being thrown into the trash as anything other than healing rift lite.
Just a side note: cryoclasm skating works with SMGs. If the weapon has a handcannon/sidearm sprint animation, then it won’t work. If it has a standard “rifle” sprint animation, then it will work
Hey Cammy, awesome video! could you maybe do another video going more in-depth about higher ttk's? I think they would promote skillexpression and teamplay, and make support playstyles much more usefull, i loved the old middle tree dawn but sometimes felt that i couldn't help teammates since they died too fast. I would love to hear about your Ideas and proposed changes on that topic.
Imagine a slower ttk with people running around with healing nade touch of flame 100 discipline double grenade kickstart- just no. Best gunfights to get into are, you guessed it, handcannon ones because ttk isnt too fast to where you get instakilled and you can only get that good ttk if you hit precision shots - unlike sidearms and smgs which just delete you with body shots and you cant even react because youre being flinched to the extreme
@@maths1745 I don't get your point. Restoration has just been nerfed and two grenade-kickstart mods are a heavy investment, potentially diminishing your gunplay and you would loose your grenade as an offensive ability, since it is its own thing now. Also nobody said that abilities would need to stay the same. And wouldn't increasing ttk make it easier to react to pistols/smg?
The part when you speak about the inconsistency of melee really hits me hard. I say this has a warlock player mainly and i do remember LOSING every melee fight because hunter and titans have a faster animations. Now with the change whe all hit at the same time.. but wait, titans have knock out? and hunter some similar shit??! we came full circle!! and don't get me started on sinteceps and ophideans (sorry if i miss pronounced english is not my native language). So THANK YOU! for bringing it out!! love you camm! keep it up
your comment about flux nades working 1 out of 100 times and being FUN is what it feels like to play athrys' embrace - i don't always get those knife kills on the double bounce, but when i do.. goddamn it's fun
Played a bunch of matches against you last night. That chaperone cryo is a menace. GGs every time I play against you it’s something that keeps me on my toes
i've quit destiny 2 recently about a 2-3 months back because the game just wasn't worth playing anymore the frustration/fun payoff was leaning more and more into frustration due to the inconsistent mechanics you mentioned and even some extra ones like melee just proccing auto targeting but whiffing entirely despite a clear line of sight and close range. The game is amazing it has the gunplay and abilities down but the power creep most games suffer from effect this and "Meta" just like in every FPS nowadays takes more and more priority the game relies less and less on skill with each passing update and more and more on who has what and so it's just not as fun to me anymore. Though i still keep track of it and watch videos for hope it'll have that "WOW!" factor again for myself and the current fanbase who enjoy it. But as i wait i'll just save my money and try out other genres/games. Hope you keep up the great content and love the vids!
One thing I agree with you on a lot is that a slower TTK would be better for the game. It's absurd to be expected to react incoming gunfire when the average TTK is four fifths of a second. 100 more health would be a nice breath of fresh air, and allow gunfights to be more forgiving and skillful imho.
The game had a slower TTK in the beta and at launch and guess what happened... the community kicked up a stink about it because everyone started to team shoot and no one would challenge. It slowed the game down, made people camp and walk around holding hands. So bungie changed it and for 5 years people have been happy with it but lately they have released powerful weapons that can one shot, buffs that make it so you can kill in half your intented TTK and so on. So people are abusing those things.
@@burns0100 Isn't teamshooting still an effective tactic? and tbh, I think the "not challenging" issue might be solved now that we move faster, and have ways to get away with pushes. For all I know, it definitely *could* make combat way too slow, but hey, we have crucible labs for a reason.
@@Salemander5000 I think the better thing to do would be to limit buffs in PvP, like even killclip shouldn't be 33% in pvp, it should be 15 at the most. 15% should be the max buff you can get in pvp, that would help slow the TTK down of some weapons. Even then Bungie could go in and sweep them all with a TTK reduction nerf. I mean the current balance is some guns can and do often kill in 0.4TTK while others have a 1-1.2TTK. Some guns actually have almost 3x longer time to kills then others in a game that wants to have a competitive ranked mode. Nothing against you or your idea but health increase alone wouldn't fix that side of things.
Your comment about just having fun and playing something for that small chance to make it all come together hit different. I run wave splitter and devour orbs. For the majority of the fight, it sucks, till it I get that orb and ammo and then wave splitter starts generating its own orbs and begins such a fun chain. Only gotten it to work less than 10 times but those moments make me keep playing it.
Really liked all of this, great way to put it. On melee lunge, given Bungie can't just up the tick rate for everyone to have a better experience - would an animation lock-out (though nuclear) help? I.e. prevent double melee being a valid option, making unpowered melee only occur once on some short timer like the way Bungie dealt with reload cancelling. No more slapfights, unpowered melee becomes a follow-up or primer for gunplay, and powered melees are unaffected by this change.
Just remove all extra range melees from the game. Adding a meter to melee range really fucks with the net code, it needs to go across the board. As a Titan main I’ll gladly sacrifice knockout and synthos to fix the abhorrent melee TPing
I see it as wave dashing, it not going to make you a god. But knowing how to use it to keep them at the range you want is super important once you start applying it with other tech
warlock snap melee works on controller *on PC, which is where I can test it. all default bindings, you just have to be really quick, and obviously needing to press two buttons together for the super button instead of one makes it a lot slower
I asked mercules (weapon designer) a few questions about ae. Just the basics, if you have 30 ae, you roughly have old Icarus. This is known. At 60 ae your accuracy cone (each gun has a cone that expands over distance, your bullets can land anywhere in this cone) is no longer wider than on ground only for primaries. At 100 ae you have a 50% reduction in aim assist. Special weapons do not loose the nerf to accuracy cone until 100 ae.
he was lying or clueless. 30 ae is nowhere near old icarus and everyone got to experience that personally. You may say "oh but he's a weapon designer, he should know what he's talking about", and yeah, that's part of the problem.
Bungie is looking into bringing current icarus to old icarus according to their latest TWAB, so they might be finally trying to understand what their systems do.
@@azzor4134 The balls to say a weapons designer who has worked with in game numbers for 7 years straight doesnt know how the game works. I am in his clan, have played with him. Keep your mouth shut before you humiliate yourself further.
Commented on another one of your videos, but I will say it here again. Your knowledge of Destiny (1&2) is unparalleled. This is why I watch your videos. It's always informative, entertaining, and anyone with a half-a-brain and the desire to learn will came away with knowledge from your videos..."rant" or otherwise. I completely understand your position (not from a godly skill level likes yours) on taking off-meta builds and trying them out. My "friends" ask me often why I do that..."don't you want to win"? I tell them the same thing you said, "I want to try something new and off-beat, and that is fun for me. I don't kd farm, but if I can pull it off...worth." I'm a well above average PVPer in the casual playlist, but apparently I'm not good enough for my hard-core PVP "friend's" to play comp with because I don't use meta all the time, so I go solo whether it's Freelance Trials or no Freelance. Keep making your awesome content, and I'll keep watching and liking your vids.
I think your experience and insight on the game is invaluable and entertaining. Don't let the haters bother you. The positive fans you have greatly outweigh their numbers. Enjoy all your posts.
The main thing about arc titans is the knock out range and damage. Knock out should not exist. The melee damage boost and the instant health regen is beyond stupid
I am by no means a high skill player. I think I’d pretty good in the aim department, but I have a lot to learn about movement. My biggest beef with PvP is special weapons. I think one shot kills in PvP are extremely uncompetitive, and I hate that so much of the player base won’t put their shotgun or fusion rifle down, or stop hard scoping with snipers. People would much rather use whatever will get the one shot than primary duel you. But I find winning primary duels to be the satisfying part of PvP. Just getting kills I can do with special weapons, but having fun, proving my skill in a tangible way requires more than a one shot kill.
I've never agreed with a destiny vid as much as this one. Nothing is more demoralizing in this game than doing everything right, and still losing the fight because of some gun/ability with a non existent skill gap.
The part that really sucks for you guys, is even if you have the armor that allows you to slot in extra mods (is it artificer armor? That’s a Warhammer 40k model upgrade so I’m probably conflating that?) you won’t have enough points to have your build and airborn effectiveness so I just took the hint and started going cover and move, just sticking to team mates and team shooting.
This is a great video I’m so happy you brought this up. I’m definitely more of a movement guy but I agree with pretty much everything here I’m so saddened by the game being so watered down and just wanna get better and have fun. I don’t wanna have to play grounded and boring just to win vs gimmick builds
excellent video i agree so much nowadays i don’t bother putting on my favorite weapons or old comp load out because it literally makes zero difference when things like flinch, screen shake, and all the other bs that narrows the skill gap exist. i just equip whatever sounds fun now which is usually dmt and heat rises j for shits and giggles. i don’t even bother trying to win as it feels pointless, so i look to have the most fun possible in a match
9:16 my thoughts exactly. I love using Cerb+1, glaive melee only, or stasis warlock freeze rift/melee only because they’re stupidly bad and/or inconsistent. If I can make an opponent confused about my loadout, then I’ve done my job.
people are finally catching up to my build lets goooo, been using this since beyond light came out. I also use this with stompees to jump early out of a slide
Haven't watched your videos in a while but man I forgot how much I loved your commentary. If you're looking for fun builds, might I recommend stasis titan, peacekeepers, and manticore. You can use any shoulder charge subclass but duskfield works great with confusion
Honestly, I've been trying to experiment with different builds to see what I can slay out with. I don't like running the most meta loadouts since it just exposes how perfectly imbalanced most of the game is. The ability spam, the damage boosts, the radar manip, the melee lunges. For example, I ran trinity ghoul with gyrfalcon's. After the bow nerfs, it's pretty much mandatory to build into handling and/or reloader perks. However, gryfalcon's and lightning rod pretty much oneshot anything outside of a super. So, I'm rewarded for taking more effort from the initial kill with easier kills afterwards (at least until I die of course). Also recently tried getting back into warlock after neglecting it for so long. Really loving arc soul builds thus far. All this to say, as long as Bungie continues to be so lax in their balancing philosophy, we'll still get things like pre-nerf lorentz. So just embrace the chaos.
i want the power point version with full vid presentation, also mobility should dictate sprint speed, its a stat dump for 2/3 classes currently. neither points are meant to be memes either, gimme the CAMMY-CUT!
Thanks for the video glhf Crazy this much prefacing is even necessary but people nowadays have really changed. Or maybe they haven't and its just a case of more goofballs have "voices" to be heard.

Titanfall 2, 5 years later, continues to be the best shooter game ever. The best movement in a game, AND has aim skill and game sense on top of that.

I have put thousands of hours of playtime into PvP alone with the sole intention of improving, and this right here is the exact reason why I can't stand to play the game anymore.
Well put, same grievances I’ve had with the meta lately as well
So incredibly well put.
Sounds dumb lmao, PVP should only appeal to no lifes"
A good player SHOULD never be able to carry a team on their own, that's why it's a team game. I'll agree on skill ceiling being lowered, but your reasons for why that's bad are completely wrong on a game design level

Thanks for this Cammy.

Lightning and spike nades are some of my favorites, just because taking out enemies behind cover, barricades, etc. is so gratifying.
this is why I run Young Ahamkara's Spine but nothin will ever be more demoralizing than the geometry gods just telling you to piss off and your grenade ends up aiming everywhere but where you were trying to aim it when it landed
@@joshtenney4143 I actually intentionally dont use fastball! Because it prevents you from lobbing the Spicey Sticks over closer range cover.
A few things that I will have to disagree on, however:
• Year 1 may have been the most balanced PvP sandbox (which I'm not disputing, I agree with) but I don't think it should have come at the cost of the entire game having double primary. PvE was such a snoozefest due to double primary era, and we saw incredibly low player populations because of it. Had Bungie found a way to allow specials in PvE but ban them from PvP I think we would have been in a much better spot sandbox wise for both PvE and PvP
• Last point I'll disagree with.
Simply hearing you say “out-br’d” puts a smile on my face
Cammycakes will be missed for these few days. Who will i watch to get inspiration to play destiny? Only God knows.
And Lightfall is only going to add to this dilemma
It’s soo cool for the movement class to be literally boots on the ground compared to everyone else
Too safe and easy to use for what they can do.
agreeing with the ophidian stuff, I only use it for the Reload/Handling bump, nothing else.
I'm mostly on the same camp as you on this one Cammy, but let's face it, Bungie ain't removing all that stuff
Great video. You've changed my opinion on this topic with your whats and whys.
ophidian exists specifically to buff the “snakebite” shotgun-melee tech. removing the extra perks to make them similar to synthoceps or fixing the teleporting melee would be more ideal.
@@AvatarBowler what did I just read
if it's a problem, then something should be done about it. it's common-sense.
I did try the Icarus slide cancel on controller, did not work even with different button layouts
I've been hit around corners with weighted knifes. If they're gonna fix the damage they need to fix the absured AA they get.
@@Michael-ne2bl Hence why I state, it can be argued how much skill it takes to use them. I absolutely agree, the AA that they now get is insane. But I'm still of the opinion that 10% damage reduction or Overshield should not at all tank a headshot from them

I am also a Warlock flux enjoyer!! I absolutely agree with your sentiment. When you get that stick the dopamine rush is insane!
and even as someone who consistently gets only 1.0-1.7kd on matches i can still say that this meta we're having is bs, like i want to lose and feel like i can improve by learning what my opponent is doing, what i can do to counter it, and what i can do to help my team, this meta we're having is like "uh oh you used the spacebar guess you lose that gunfight" or "woops the enemy warlock used dead messenger and is now going to kill you in .3 seconds from now"
I defend ophidian because warlocks are bad but with the understanding that they should be nerfed after bungie decides to fix up warlocks.
If it has a standard “rifle” sprint animation, then it will work
“ why do I have to take out a fucking loan to hit yellow numbers mid air?” Lmao so perfect.

The ground shake upon hitting the ground is one of my pet peeves as well, it's so dumb.
Best gunfights to get into are, you guessed it, handcannon ones because ttk isnt too fast to where you get instakilled and you can only get that good ttk if you hit precision shots - unlike sidearms and smgs which just delete you with body shots and you cant even react because youre being flinched to the extreme
you can heal your teammates all day, but you can't make them have good positioning.
I'm about a minute and 20 in, and my jaw has already hit the floor. Movement tech to the max.
i've quit destiny 2 recently about a 2-3 months back because the game just wasn't worth playing anymore the frustration/fun payoff was leaning more and more into frustration due to the inconsistent mechanics you mentioned and even some extra ones like melee just proccing auto targeting but whiffing entirely despite a clear line of sight and close range.
I loved using severance enclosure with pre void 3.0 bubble titan, just for the off chance i can get a double kill and an oversheild at the same time
Preaching on that movement and balance bit
@@burns0100 True. I'd like to see both of our ideas tested in crucible labs at some point.

Your comment about just having fun and playing something for that small chance to make it all come together hit different. I run wave splitter and devour orbs. Only gotten it to work less than 10 times but those moments make me keep playing it.
one of my controller friends learned how to snap cancel on xbox but he had to rebind his controls to do it
That's great and all but I need to know the tales of TheyCallMeToeMuncher
Really liked all of this, great way to put it. On melee lunge, given Bungie can't just up the tick rate for everyone to have a better experience - would an animation lock-out (though nuclear) help? I.e. prevent double melee being a valid option, making unpowered melee only occur once on some short timer like the way Bungie dealt with reload cancelling. No more slapfights, unpowered melee becomes a follow-up or primer for gunplay, and powered melees are unaffected by this change.
This would also be a soft buff to Blunt Execution Rounds, which I wouldnt mind.
This was a great video, I enjoy you talking about the game a lot. Wish you all the best.
I agree with literally everything in this video, especially slower time to kill part
Yeah that sounds nice but in real gameplay this just isn’t true. 30 AE feels just like 0.
@@VanWo You are calling a weapons developer a liar? Damn the balls and complete lack of knowledge you have, the pfp fits.
he was lying or clueless.

I just want arc titans looked at. ATM it feels like if your in a duel with one there’s not much of a chance if the player is skilled whatsoever
If there are 2 or 3 in the other team in 6's you just spend the whole time dodging storm nades lol
The main thing about arc titans is the knock out range and damage. Knock out should not exist. The melee damage boost and the instant health regen is beyond stupid
Never change bro. Love your content. Have a nice holiday
Just getting kills I can do with special weapons, but having fun, proving my skill in a tangible way requires more than a one shot kill.
i like ur definition of fun

I've never agreed with a destiny vid as much as this one. Nothing is more demoralizing in this game than doing everything right, and still losing the fight because of some gun/ability with a non existent skill gap.
The part that really sucks for you guys, is even if you have the armor that allows you to slot in extra mods (is it artificer armor? That’s a Warhammer 40k model upgrade so I’m probably conflating that?) you won’t have enough points to have your build and airborn effectiveness so I just took the hint and started going cover and move, just sticking to team mates and team shooting.
Thx for the info. I was wondering why I shiver skating was inconsistent

I come from surf maps in tf2 and csgo, its always gonna come down to movement for me
9:16 my thoughts exactly.
Can confirm this works on a SCUFFED controller.
It could be possible on a base controller...but it will be exponentially harder.
The incinerator snap slide cancel works on controller but the super button has to be the grenade + melee button which is kinda weird and annoying
i want the power point version with full vid presentation, also mobility should dictate sprint speed, its a stat dump for 2/3 classes currently. neither points are meant to be memes either, gimme the CAMMY-CUT!
The warlock incinerator snap works but u need to have only auto melee bound
as someone who plays this game casually and mediocre at best, yes, please crank up the SBMM as hard as possible
This does work on controller, but you need your super to binded to 2 buttons and not one, and of the buttons need to be a auto melee bind
Thanks for the video glhf
Crazy this much prefacing is even necessary but people nowadays have really changed. Or maybe they haven't and its just a case of more goofballs have "voices" to be heard.
My cod mindset is screaming now.
DMT glaive on behemoth with lion ramparts do be doing.
I honestly agree with your paradigm on this. It's sad that people can't just talk about pvp without toxicity towards feedback and constructive criticism
