Thanks for sharing Nepal with us. Your videos were an eyeopener to the beauty of the country. We are both excited to add Nepal to travel list, thanks to you. We are glad to hear your safe and well with all the flooding . Chris and Connie
Thank you both very much it’s great to know when I inspire people to travel places, it’s the main objective of my channel. You will love Nepal it’s such a beautiful country.
Well done on another very interesting video. You have countless energy. What a Rip-off for foreigners. Tibetan Buddhism is so different to the Buddhism of Burma, Siam and Ceylon. I always use the old colonial names. His Holiness the Dalai Lama is at the Main Tibetan Temple in Dharamsala, HP, India on September 30, 2024.
Thanks Tim, I totally agree they should be wanting to show their religion instead of profiting from it. I could understand a charge to go into the museum but to just walk by is crazy.
That was a great walk around Richy thankyou. We arrive on Wednesday and this is the first video actually showing prices so that was super helpful. Happy travels
Aww that’s great to hear you’ll love Nepal, I’ve done prices in all of my vlogs so people like you know what to expect. I leave in a couple of days as my visa is running out. Have a great time and thank you🇳🇵👍🏻
As an Brit living here in the land of smiles I'm loving your content. It seems like you find it easier to have banter with the locals in Malaysia than in Thailand ?
Hi mate and thank you. I do have good banter with the Thai people but they do seem to shy away when the camera is on for some reason and I don’t want to be rude and force it upon them.
Hi Richy mate your looking well just got back from thailand after a month there a bit crazy but thats thailand thinking of haveing a change next year thinking about haveing a look at Ghana
Hi Mike, yes it can be hectic mate. I do like it at this time of the year in Thailand as there aren’t so many tourists and I don’t mind a bit of rain. Wow Ghana, I want to go to Africa at some point.
Thanks Richy. Lovely to see Kathmandu. Lots changed since the quakes but still amazing. Watching your videos is like taking a walk with you. 100% don’t look em in the eye and keep walking. It feels really rude but trying to scam people is rude so fairs fair. You are always polite and respectful. But it’s ok not to even notice them. The word ‘ chello’ in Hindi means ‘go away’ if things get tricky . I used to keep a bit of small change in my pockets for beggars etc. There used to be leppers- and lots of homeless kids. I hope that’s changed. Nepalis are bloody lovely folk mind esp out of the cities in the mountains. 49:43 I visited freak street in 89 . Blew my mind! Keep doing what you do .
Thanks Damian, I would have loved to have been here back in the day. You still get a few kids begging but thankfully I never seen any leppers. The people are really nice I loved in Bandipur.
@@ParkinsonRaw nice one mate . Enjoy the rest of your stay. Nepali curd(yoghurt) is brilliant for a dicky tummy - if you are still getting any bother from Pakistani. Tastes lovely too. That’s my tip :) . See if you can get to bhatakpur near Kathmandu- it’s a trip back in time. Good on you mate - see yah on the road somewhere
Another great video mate. Good for me to see Nepal again after so many years, but much prefer smaller towns and villages than capital cities. Kathmandu looks super commercialised (as many other Asian capital cities are I suppose?) Keep up the good work
If you go to India you will see professional hasselers (taxi drivers, people selling tours and shop owners). These guys just follow you everywhere, they even wait outside restaurants and follow you and harass you, even if you tell them 1,000 times you don't want it. Saying that, I loved India and there's some fantastic places, especially around Goa and Kerala.
it does get tiresome dealing with all the requests to buy various stuff and depending on the day you'be had does effect how much patience you have left, but you deal with it well, even though they've asked thousands of tourists before you they still appreciate a no thank you or even a shake of the head and a smile, it just becomes something you don't even think about as a backpacker/budget traveller, go well Richy
Thanks Andrew, after a tiring day it can get to be a pain but I always try and be polite whenever possible. I see a lot of people totally ignoring them and I don’t like that personally.
I've just given you a 'like', Richy. Great vlog. I was there in '86, and boy has it changed. Doing treks next year, as you mentioned, will be well worth it. I went towards Machapuchre, or 'fishtail' mountain and still look at the photos fondly. The unspoilt and magnificent landscape was stunning. For a walker, you'll be in your element. Best of luck with the next leg of your trip.
I was going to adk about the weed situation in Nepal costs etc. Its always had a great reputation for quality smoke. Yet cannot find any youtube vlogs about it. Unlike Thailand loads of info and pricing available.
Being ripped off at the hotel will be water off a duck's back to you Richy, anyway maybe vlog Nakhon Pathom & Ratchaburi next time you're in Thailand. ...not many tourists in these provinces.
@@robinlowerson565 it was ok to be honest Robin the hotel was really cheap I was just telling him to take down the false advertising. I’ve been to both of them but there were only quick visits, I’ll definitely be returning. Thanks mate.
No unfortunately I wasn’t well enough from the bacterial infection I caught in Pakistan. I did do a lot of very long walks around the cities and up to Bandipur etc. I’m planning on coming back next year to do some.
🤣they do test your patience mate, a lot start with I don’t want money or to sell you anything but always ends with a sales pitch or can you help feed my family.
ridiculous ticket price and museum ticket not included. You can see the whole arena by just going around. 1000 Rupees ridiculous . We the locals just go through free. Feel like earned 1000 rupees everyday without a sweat. I live nearby and pass through Kathmandu durbar square every day. its a pure tourist scam and government is doing it 30 rupees for locals to enter the museum and 300 for tourist . That means 1300 total for tourist . That open curio shop area is not accessible without ticket but you wisely got there from little alleyway behind.
For me putting price is giving the value for the heritage, and ticket system for heritage sites is all around the world. It's not just in Nepal even there are more expensive tickets on heritage sites of other countries. So i don't think it's a scam. Also there are so much to renovated after earthquake so this money goes for renovation too.And may be it's just a normal thing for you because you are living on that area but it's a historical place and it should and has more value. It should be preserve, it should be maintained, it should have some value, may be price is too high, they can lower the price like rs 500 for tourist but ticket system is much needed. I also wish to have ticket even for local people at least like 100rs so that people should understand the value of that place. I don't like people sitting on the temple area like some chilling area. There are sitting area too they can sit on those place but not the temple area. If putting tickets is done then may be it will be reduce.
@@preety8651 yeah. ticket for locals is out of question . In my childhood no ticket for tourist either. Entire fee goes for corruption and expenses for maintenance is acquuired from government . Its been almost a decade since the earthquake and they are still reconstructing to milk the budget.
@@gyaanchandraashakya4018 About corruption may be yes may be no. But there are so many things happens in the Kathmandu durbar square, like there is renovation happening, there is Kumari living and so many different functions happened during different time and all the security and other workers are there for work. So I don't think money is not doing any help on that. But as I said they can lower the prices. But ticket system must be there. It's a heritage sites and it must have some value compare to other places.
