I was literally holding the only bottle brought into my local store and looking for reviews when this video dropped. The Macallan Cacao was intriguing but your review was helpful as always. Slàinte!
Loved the conversation on whisky, had to laugh through the hair conversation! 😆 I agree, just own it. The scores were strong, might need to enjoy o er the Christmas season.
Very Nice review Guys. Highland Park has been on my list fora long time. So much whiskey So small a budget!! LOL Going to the New York Whiskey Festival. First one since COVID. Love jawing with the Brand Reps. SLÁINTE Mike
great review guys. Picked up a bottle today on offer for £67.50 ($81), finally went for it. Looking forward to trying it. Definitely turning the bottle into a lamp once im done.
I absolutely agree, only reason I did not get that bottle is price, around here is anywhere from $100 to $120. For that price range you have a lot more options. I wish companies start making again sample sets, it's the best way to introduce someone to age statement whiskeys without breaking the bank. Great job as usual thank you guys.
Had no clue about the Highland Park Twist. It's like when you first learn about the ceiling fan's ability to change directions! I need to go check on my bottles now and verify this wizardy.
Pretty sure Benriach smoky 12 uses highland peat and it’s younger and less decomposed so that plant roots and other things burn giving a different smoke profile closer to wood smoke
I get heather/something different in the Benromach 10 Imperial/Cask Strength peat. I love this dram and I am not a peat guy by any stretch of the imagination. On the new packaging on the 15, it really jumps out, I imagine it would really attract attention on the shelf of a bar. One of the Irish expressions (maybe Tulamore Dew) uses a ceramic jug/bottle. I will look out for the bottle.
I just popped the cork on this… CERAMIC… bottle and I’m comparing notes. It’s seems to have more BBQ notes, smokier than the 12. I give y’all 5-10 years (when you’ll be my age) and you’ll both join the Chrome Dome Club.
I passed on this today at $110 and got the new Laphroaig Cairdeas PX instead for the same $$. I used to get the old HP 15yo for $60-$80 and really just as happy with the 12yo. or spend about the same for the 18yo.
If you want to try a very good heathered peat try the Stauning Smoke. I believe it is a Danish distillery. I really enjoy it and it is def unusual and a new refreshing flavor profile. Let me know what you think if you find a bottle.
Scott, if your nose and pallette aren't back where you'd like them to be, I've heard of a lot of people getting them back with Alpha lipoic acid. Idk if anyone's recommended that, but there ya go.
Too funny guys, I picked up a bottle myself this week & have a first set of notes taken. I feel like you were copying off my page. =D Totally agree about the mouthfeel, nice surprise at 44%. I tried some next to my older 18 & that was just so thin in comparison. I also really like the restrained sherry influence, the spirit sits a bit higher in the mix than I'm used to from HP. I think they did a great job with this one. Not entirely sure about the ceramic. Ceramic.
Well after a year my local total wine gave up on these. They dropped it down to $78 from $105 and they started flying off the shelf. Looks like that $78 is a fair MV. I think we may see this more from the big retailers. With Scotch being so expensive after a year or more they will just clear them out.
Getting sunburn on the top of my head due to thinning hair was a surprise. Hair is still growing on my head... out my ears and nostrils. But not long enough for a comb-over.
That was true a couple years ago, but my last two bottles of 12 weren’t as good. Still worth buying at $54 though. The 15 is $100 here so I think I can justify it. It’s close.
You know what I really hate, having to deal with whisky inflation for the past 10 years and now we have real inflation and whisky prices keep going up.
I went from being a big HP fan to a passer by. They lost me with all their variations and comical expressions, I could not determine if they were serious about Whisky or Money. This expression might convince me to come back and give them another try. Will see, I have a local store that has an old 15yo that I can’t come to term to purchase.
Just bought mine today in New Jersey. Last one for sale in my region. Can't wait to try it after I enjoy having it in my collection for a while.
It draws all the attention once on the shelf.

Bam! Thanks MacLean
Great video boys
Thanks 6

great point on the sampler packs! bring more!
I think they use Orkney peat. They have a peat field right on the island you can visit. Try the HP valknut. More heavily peated I believe
We’ve had that too. Different but we enjoyed it.
Sounds like a good bottle. I would like to give this a try. I have seen it online but not in my stores yet. Sounds very interesting.
You should!
Had no clue about the Highland Park Twist. It's like when you first learn about the ceiling fan's ability to change directions! I need to go check on my bottles now and verify this wizardy.
its an interesting twist! haha, see what i did there?
Pretty sure Benriach smoky 12 uses highland peat and it’s younger and less decomposed so that plant roots and other things burn giving a different smoke profile closer to wood smoke
Very interesting. Thanks Jacob

It is noticeable

Headed that way for sure. I’m going to pull this back out

just picked up the PX Cairdeas today for $90!
When I was thirty years old, someone took a picture of me from behind while I was looking up at a tree... I was already beyond the point of no return.
haha! own it Quig!

Never been a fan of highland park OBs I like Highland part IBs It is crazy
I often find this to be the case with many ob/ib offerings.
Please explain ob and ib. Thank you.
@@PlagueKing_LordFalix OB official bottling IB independent bottling
@@gavsdrams thank you. 😊
heard several say that
wanted to get this at the store but saw the abv and was like "naaw" but if you guys think they dialed it in i may get just for the bottle collection.
if the abv was even a little bit higher. 44 such an odd one.
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎😎😎😎
And to you G

Looked this up online and may need to try some and see if it works!
Love Bart entertaining himself with "ceramic"! Go Ceramic, Baby!
he's entertained easily
I believe Benromach uses a ‘heathered’ peat.
that could be, will have to look into it

Ceramic.
Agree with the notes and ceramic. Did I say ceramic? Ceramic
HP = natural colour but chillfiltered at 4°C
👍

great price for a 15 year!
Getting sunburn on the top of my head due to thinning hair was a surprise. Hair is still growing on my head... out my ears and nostrils. But not long enough for a comb-over.
Yep I remember my first top of head burn and the itching flakes. I was like “what the hell” bart
I liked the 12,but wasn't impressed with the 10 what so ever.
Will definitely try this if I can get it
Don’t remember the 10 and not sure I’ve ever had it.
Ceramic -😎 B.O.B.
👍
Ceramic it is. 🥃✌️
Bingo
The problem with the HP15 is the HP12. The 12 is so good and so affordable that it’s hard to justify the 15 year’s price point.
Good point
That was true a couple years ago, but my last two bottles of 12 weren’t as good. Still worth buying at $54 though. The 15 is $100 here so I think I can justify it. It’s close.
You know what I really hate, having to deal with whisky inflation for the past 10 years and now we have real inflation and whisky prices keep going up.
dont' even talk about bourbon inflation...
Do t worry bout that "u" shape Bart. 👴. Solution is a #2 guard on the ole electric clipper. Just do it
or razor...
Just to be clear ... The Ceramic Edition. Got it? Bye the by ... how much am I payin' extra for that "ceramic"??
Unknown, but it’s tasty and looks cool. It’s like a coffee from Starbucks
Guess I won’t be trying that one at $95
watch for a sale
I think branding the 12 and under as Viking Pride is okay, but I find it very cheesy for 15, and especially for 18 and up.
I don't think that I am willing to pay that much for 44%. Maybe if they bumped it up to 46%. Just me.
We like 46% as well

that would be interesting to look at the old bottling vs this new one
Man, you guys are dynamite!! SKOL...
Thank you Sir. Tip of the cap to you.
