We are in a tough economic climate and these politicians wanna play rugby and make jokes. PNG wake up, we are too passive with our government, it's time for a revolution.
It may sound like a joke to many of you that sit and expect the goodies to fall out of the skies, but this initiative carried out has a meaning and purpose and that is a ministry that will take the industry to another level.. Well done the smart thinkers..
Coffee brought PNG this far from its early beginnings in terms of economy wise, one of our very first cash crops .... At this time it sounds absurd true. I to laughed about it, but I would give it some time and see how the ministry performs. We may or may not benefit who knows but every country has its unique needs and wants, decisions are made based on specifications.... but as part of comedy its ok to have a good laugh every now and then ..... top speed brother
Say something positive. They have a reason to appoint this particular minister. Maybe coffee is one of the resource that still exist despite the rise and fall in the market price/the country's economy. On the other hand for our highlanders this is one of the main cash crop which finance most of them in the past and even today. I would say JM#PM and his cabinets have something in place/vision for the coffee industry...👍👏
That's so sad because it's such a beautiful country every person in that country should have millions in a bank account and a financial advisor with all the resources.
It's kinda dumb that they comparing the minister of coffee to toilet and loneliness. The minister of coffee's accomplishments can be measured directly to the total export of coffee out of PNG. These toilet and loneliness positions are kinda like social work positions. However, maybe instead of coffee, we should have a Minister for exports overall would make more sense.
They are smart enough to know better. In my opinion they do not want PNG to gain economic freedom and that video is an attack on the credibility of the move.
The video was part of a news segment on strange ministerial positions from around the world. It is a strange position. Brazil exported over 55 times as much coffee as PNG and does not need a minister for coffee.
@@unluckydube A large part of PNG's coffee industry is in rural places with no road access. The appointment was part of an initiative to help PNG out of a imminent ForEX crisis by increasing exports. Brazil is 20X larger than PNG so I'm not surprised.
Instead of defending our Country we end up joking on. We need more revenue coming in and more exports going out of our country. We are a funny group of people. we love focusing on the negatives instead of being optimistic.
If its a global laughing topic, then we are on the right track! 🤣🤣...... coffee exports was way better before the 20th century in PNG. Mismanagement you can say but I think the lack of prioritising local commodities was the main the factor in the downfall of coffee exports in PNG because of our MPs were busy filling their pockets instead of marketing our exports. This is just another scheme of diverting money to a sector that has been sustainable to our people but lack management and intellect for growth. What a shame!
Coffee generates close to a Billion Kina in revenue in a year. It is the second largest agricultural crop after oil Palm in PNG. Oil Palm generates over a Billion USD in a year compared to the mining and oil Petroleum. Govt is giving prominence to these crops to fully developed and get our people to go back to the villages and work the land. Coffee in the US generates over 20billion USD. If more coffee is grown and more exports is made in USD including palm oil PNG will not be to dependant on the extractive industry. Its good that the govt is prioritising on agriculture in the 11th parliament by separating Coffee, Oil Palm and live stock from dept of Agricuture to have own ministry to help our farmers who had been struggling all these years. Agriculture will be the biggest employer in PNG when people start going back to villages to work their land then hanging around in Pom selling betel nut. 👍👍👍
If I were a Papua New Guinean residing abroad, I'd think just by watching this news broadcast that my nation made coffee a national symbol! No lie! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
It is a good thing to appoint a minister to focus on the coffee industry with it being a big export earner for PNG though like others it should be under the ministry for agriculture. When the job for minister for SP comes up be sure to call me
You can joke it out but I think it's a wonderful idea to have a Coffee Ministry since some Highlands Provinces like Jiwaka, Eastern Highlands and Western Highlands Provinces (excluding Hela, Southern Highlands and Enga provinces) economy is pushed by Coffee.
coffee is a commodity in the world market. PNG aint stupid. we need more focus on coffee so that we can export and generate more revenue. not like toilets, and loneliness and shit form the outside world.
Good on you for this video. I believe PM has his plans for the newly created ministry and it came on the agreement of the caucus, so media please have an informative discussion with the PM before airing for world to hear. 🙏
The point is clear. Coffee earns a living. Over 80% 0f the rural population earn from coffee. The DAL did not do much in the last 4 decades since independence. The scale of the coffee industry equates a ministry of its own. I support this idea and I support the current cabinet.
Bruhhhhhhhhh my mind is flooding with enlightenment and anxiety issues.. its like everything I know is nothing compared to reality 😭 reality is more fxcked up then I expected
We don't need approval from other countries to structure our government focus and good governance. Go ahead, if it will increase exports and revenue, then by all means let's do it.
Toilet is reasonable. Try use a public toilet in PNG and see for yourself🤣🤣🤣. I can not believe PNG skip toilet for Hygiene and appointed coffee minister🤦. Na Agriculture minister ya wanem wok blo em?🤣🤣🤣
We also need a minister for Hygiene. Our town and cities are filthy with rubbish and unhygienic human beings. The PMV buses are ruined with dirty seats and smelly interiors. Unsafe for international community, tourists and visitors.
The PM is a very good and wise PM in the history of our little lastpla place on earth. The world laughed at the toilet minister of Japan or loneliness in wherever, etc. All addressed issues affecting the people so they made some things to solve the issue and make the livelihood of the citizens safer and easier. The coffee ministry is a good and right step for the good of our simple ordinary people in the village and may be not good for urban drifters squatting in Moresby or Lae or mt Hagen. Don't worry about what the world will laugh at us, we are who we are now so don't pretend like the way our leaders focused on face blo PNG pom city. Remember, PNG is like 200 years behind USA and like 300 years behind Japan. PNG em las ples lo the world. Larem white man laugh. No ken acting planti, face it olgeta pikinini PNG. Oh yes new ministries created or formed just for gaining purposes else nothing cos png have no leadership that can manage well our multi billion resources, look at Dubai with only one resources and it's developed because of a good leadership they have

More duplicating roles being created... public servants will now be very confused on their roles and responsibilities... these is worse... we also be having a minister for oil palm... What about the minister to revive the first agricultural cash crops that first sustain PNG during its earliest independent stage that is Cocoa and Copra... upla tingim Highlands and what about the coconuts on other coast of PNG..
Minister or Ministerial position are appointed or created to head a Ministry that could put all focus into one particular area to achieve something for the country. I don't think Minister for coffee is a bad idea. Coffee in the Highlands and Morobe and Oil Palm in New Britain, Morobe and Madang are of a much high significance. Having a Ministry will mean more focus are channeled into these crops hence, more growth and economic benefits for the country and people.
It's a good thing though, but cannot the agricultural minister just hand the tasks to the vise minister to do? I mean, anyways let's just wait and see if that minister will make coffee becomes number one in the world.
We need a minister for common sense 😂😂
