it's amazing how every prospect is a can't miss til they do. When in reality only like a handful will be standout, while the rest are roster fillers in a few seasons. It's like rating an NFL draft the day after it is completed, what are you basing it on. Potential is a possibility not a certainty, and these guys in A and AA aren't facing Kershaw, Scherzer, DeGrom, Cole level opposition. As Mets fans, we should know that great expectations often provide great disappointment.

According to Jim Callis & Jonathan Mayo every one they talk to that’s seen him pitch since last year give glowing reviews about his stuff improving drastically and his command remaining good. Keibert Ruiz deserves his spot, a catcher who will slash you .300/.350/.450 with 15-20 HR while playing average defense is an all-star.

Mariners have 6 prospects, half of them are Outfielders. Half are pitchers. We've got a few young guys in a great Kyle Lewis (also an OF), an iffy JP Crawford, and Shed Long who I don't have much of an opinion of. So we have 4 OF guys, meaning one of these great prospects is going to be at most an occasional guy, and then we'll be staring at a market that Dipoto has never played properly for the corners, behind the plate, and probably a better SS. Just a reminder that Dipoto has said we're in it for the long game. The long game that our fantastic prospect that was RotY in 2001 is retired and that year was his only playoff berth with the team.

I may be a bit bias but Nate Pearson dropping to 10th this year doesn't make sense to me.
Sure his debut outings were forgettable at best, but he was a 24 year old starting pitching making his debut during a global pandemic. Training for two months, out of nowhere being put on hiatus for 5 months and then jumping in to an MLB season with essentially no pre-season is going to be tough for the best of players.
Look at all the superstars across the league who struggled this season.
I agree that he's probably the #2 pitching prospect behind Gore but I would have had Pearson in that 5-7 range.
Also, I would have like to see Austin Martin a bit higher.

I still think people don’t realize just how good Marco Luciano is. Jim Callis has straight up said that his limited minor league experience is probably the only reason he’s not a Top 5 prospect right now. He already projects him to have 40 homer power, and also said that he thinks he will be the number 1 prospect in baseball in 2022.

Joey Bart is almost certainly going to start the season in AAA, he hadn't played above AA before 2020 he struggled to make consistent contact. Defense is not the issue for him he's pretty elite there, he just needs to make more contact and tap into that insane power he has.

What? He was one of the worst defensive catchers last year? -4 in runs saved and guys ran all day on him. His defense terrible. He’s a future 1B.

@@alwillk He was a rookie last year in a very small sample size without much time to really get to know his pitching staff, of course he's gonna struggle a bit. But he has a very strong arm and has had very high marks by scouts for his defense since 2018. And according to fangraphs he was above average in defensive positional value. Additionally he has fresher legs than Buster Posey who is more destined for the 1B spot if he sticks around on the Giants. That has been the plan ever since Joey Bart was drafted #2 overall.

@@alwillk He's know for his power and bat speed, but he has not made enough contact at the upper levels of baseball to really tap into that. So currently he's far more valuable defensively than he is offensively in the bigs.
