It's spinning because the car is FWD.. That's why he had to get the car into some speed before flooring it, or he would have just spun his tires and the acceleration wouldn't have been as impressive as it is in higher speeds. RWD and AWD is the shit.. ;)

One of the sickest volvos ive seen. Its not easy to squeeze that amount of power out of an engine like this. its not a typical 5cyl vilvo but 4cyl that has really thin block walls. So.. This really is an awesome project!
Sut Mig Yes, I thought the car went over 8500rpm in the highest gear, but it only pushed until ~8200rpm, which makes it around 340-355 :) You are right. 8200 x 260 / 6000 = 355km/h
No need to get speedometer:) police is there for measuring speed with radar. I't did go only 288km/h in that test, i went to WOT after 500m or so. Week after it did run 315km/h. I't was first at top speed... because fastest guys wheren't there 2.nd lambo gallardo 285km/h 3.rd toyota supra single turbo 284km/h (engine break) 4.th audi R8 281km/h (chiptuned)

Shlomi Vinny i wanted a S40 (first gen) as first car but my parents refused to insurance one (they are the small economical car types you know, fiat 500 and other shoeboxes). Im kinda tempted to buy one but at this point it would be a downgrade (i drive a is200). Still great cars tho!

Yes, he cannot get good traction, even though I am sure he has the best differential installed. FWD with 700hp is impossible to start from a standing mile even if both front tires are spinning equally. I have a V40 t4 all stock and with good tires and regular diff, it overspins, but not much, just a little. It is a great car you have and I can congratulate you for taking the time and money invested, so you can rip out any car standing next to you, who does not even suspect. I make them wonder with my stock 200hp estate wagon:) What about you, haha
Mercedes W205 you could never slow down that fast on a dyno with out destroying shit and getting yanked off the dyno with all that inertia of the dyno spinning itself. but I often think that as well when you see in car accelerations with no road visible
I saw a super fast Volvo once. It looked like a POS but had drag radials. The driver gave it a slight push, it sounded like thunder and pulled 10 car lengths on me instantly. It probably had close to 1000hp based on my experience with drag racing. I love fast sleeper cars.

That CEL is typical for any Volvo running higher-than-factory boost. The service light is just an oil change reminder and, unless you go to the dealer or buy the reset tool, it will always be on. The triangle light is the traction control light saying that TRACS is off. If you turn that CEL off and drive below the factory set boost level then it won't come on but as soon as you smash the pedal, all bets off.
Just picked up a s40 1.9t about to start the sleeper mods finally got the engine ready with all new parts/sensors and charging system. Timing belt then mods!!

Wasmachineman T4's are 2.0L as well. Depends on where you live. In the USA the 1.9L was all there was but in Europe it's more common with the 2.0L. The 1.9L probably better for 700hp though because thicker cylinder walls.

There 2 challenges in reaching that kind of speed: 1. Engine power 2. Handling the speed on the road (suspension,wind, tires, etc,...) I agree, this car definitely has the first one. I'm not so sure about the second one.
Yeah right, i have made hundreds of wot pulls with this engine. Over 30000km with it and 4 years already. At the moment engine is opened for measurement purposes only and everything is still just fine at inside of engine. Only 2.3bar boost@9300rpm. Maybe next summer we can achieve engine breaking point or not...We'll anyway next time there will be over 3 bar of boost and +10000rpm. Now it´s easy to spinn wheels over +200km/h speed. Tires are toyo r888... we shall see what happens at next time.

It's in KPH... 300KPH is just about 186MPH. That is well within possibility of a manual trans v40 running better than 9k rpm. My 95 850 Turbo with an auto tops at 165MPH with redline at 6k and ignition cut at 6500.
@micarone Like i said the shadow seems to be top constant at these speeds, and it doesn't seem to be any resostance for it to take as miuch gas as it should. Whether he's on a dyno i can't say but it's certainly weird.

The car seems a little too relaxed to be driving 250+km/h (regarding the vibrations) However, the uploader mentions 1/4 mile mark... Who knows what really happened there...
