    Great video in a great video series. It is already worthwhile to watch the videos for the countless tips and tricks. High level explained very understandable.

    Hey Bernd.
    I have a question.
    But first, thanks for the great work, I'm learning lots about Fusion.
    Now for my question,
    While I can understand the value of using an EXR sequence for the camera track in terms of the information OpenEXR is capable, is there a point to converting an H264 clip to this format in the compositing workflow?
    I'm wondering if H264 compression doesn't already reduce much of the color and contrast information inherently available in the video file.
    Basically, I don't know what I'm talking about and I need some help understanding the place of image formats in the VFX pipeline

      You answered you own question. If the clip is H264 it's already compressed. Converting it to EXR will have no benefits.

    Hello! So I have problem with this tutorial: the shadows disappear when I turn off Groundplane or make it unseen by cameras. Can you help me?

    Is there a way to make the ship follow the path of a poly spline like you can in After Effects?

    • @VFXstudy
      @VFXstudy  2 года назад

      Not sure what you mean. I am animating the ship to follow a path in 3d space. A motion path is nothing but an animation along a 3d polyline.

    Wouldn't it make more sense to use a Directional light for the shadows? If the Spotlight is too close to the Ground plane, won't it distort the shadows?

    • @VFXstudy
      @VFXstudy  5 лет назад

      The directional light does not cast any shadows in Fusion - that's why I used this as workaround. Yes you need to place it some distance away to approximate the directional light then it should work out alright.

    Please make a video on muliti pass compositing from 3d softwares to davinci resolve

      Thanks for the suggestion. First let's do some multipass compositing in this shot :) ... but good idea for the future.

    where is light option in fusion 16 for camera projection

    • @VFXstudy
      @VFXstudy  5 лет назад

      There is a projector tool, or you can just connect the image to be projected to a camera3d and that camera will turn into a projector. There's an additional tab with projector settings as well.

    Super again. One question: You do this in Fusion Studio, I wonder what is the major difference between Fusion Studio and Fusion within Resolve Studio. I have got the Resolve studio, do I also need to buy Fusion studio??

    • @VFXstudy
      @VFXstudy  5 лет назад +3

      If you have the Resolve Dongle, Fusion Studio works automatically. The license key version currently does not work with Fusion Studio. Fusion Studio has the same tools and almost same interface but is a more lightwise application compared to resolve because it doesn't have all the Edit and Fairlight stuff etc. It can do with a bit less RAM and starts faster and you can open multiple Fusion comps in parallel which you mange simply on File system rather than in Resolve projects. Also it still has performance benefits over Resolve. It allows for parallel branching (parallel computation of nodes in separate branches), rendering multiple frames at once, network rendering and working with lower bit depth like 16 bit float instead of 32 bit. BMD has improved performance in Fusion in Resolve 16 and 16.1 but I still notice a clear difference. In Resolve 15 I felt Fusion was almost unusable for everything more complex than a title animation. Slowly BMD seems to be closing the gap.

    That´s sad we have to manually put the ground plane. I wish fusion had something like a lot 3d tracking software have: Just select some points and create the ground plane. :(

    • @VFXstudy
      @VFXstudy  2 года назад +1

      It has. In the Export tab of the 3D Camera tracker. I didn't use it here? Sorry.

    You are doing a great job for sure, but you are slow both in speaking and the rhythm. Just think about the days you were at school how did you like your monotone and slow teachers? Again I know you are doing a great job! I hope to see you more energetic and faster next time.

      Thanks for the advice. Yeah I also feel especially this episode dragged a little bit. Will try to improve on this. In the meantime feel free to watch in double speed :P
