      the meta model was clearly set out in the first, or one of the first NLP books - The Structure of Magic. I've read most of the others but wish I had read this one first because, as you say, it is pretty much the foundation of everything. p.s. thanks for the videos.

      @@lendoggy2 I agree with you totally I wish I had read "The Structure of Magic" first also. I believe it would have benefitted my learning NLP and anybody else and was thinking the same thing while watching this video. I Iiken it learning to drive a car with a manual transmission. While it a bit more difficult at first it gives one more options and advantages over someone who just learns to drive an automatic gear box.

    This is all very new to me. I have shunned the idea of hypnosis, though when practiced in a subtle way, it may prove helpful. One focus has been to improve my communication skills, I can tend to generalize and be vague, which is not all bad or good. Often enough, people will say, "oh but you said this," and I will find myself back-pedaling, hmmmm. Slow motion sometimes. :D

    Great video. Your comments about the map really helped things land. Also, I believe Meta Model was originally developed by Virginia Satir, and then Bandler & Grinder studied it and incorporated it into NLP.

    • @DamonCart
      @DamonCart  4 года назад +3

      Thank you. No, the Meta Model is a language model created by John Grinder and Richard Bandler modeled from Virginia Satir and Fritz Perls when they were doing therapy. Satir was really surprised when Bandler and Grinder showed her the model because she could acknowledge that it was the structure that made her effective minus the content and for the first time this made it conscious for her. She even struggled with whether or not from that point forward that her therapy was now manipulation because she was now conscious of her strategies.

    This was good - I am watching it for a 3rd time (as I usually do). Practice makes permanent! I was having a hard time, originally with accepting NLP into my coaching style, so I just started saying the things I've heard and read, and watched to people (even though conceptually, I was unsure). The more I was saying it, the more I understood (and remembered) what it all meant. Now, people are asking me to "tell me more"..... and I do :D Here. We. Go.

    Hi Damon! Wow, this video is really incredible - thank you! I recently took an NLP Prac training that was much too short (7 days and it included timeline therapy and hypnotherapy) and I do not feel thoroughly knowledgeable about anything I learned - yet! I've been watching quite a few of your videos and this one was one of my favorites. It helped me understand something that we brushed over so, so quickly. I find that of all the techniques this is the model that I would like to deepen my knowledge of the most. I am hungry for more depth in understanding and practice opportunities. I am wondering if you have any further recommendations. Perhaps a book? A lecture series? Not sure... an online practice group? Thank you!
