We had rain on the forecast in north Texas today and I watched this video over and over this morning before I went out on my local pond during my lunch break. I ended up catching my personal best 5-6 pounder (didn’t have a good scale) on a loon colored whopper plopper 90 on my last cast! Wish I could send you the picture, thank you for the tips sir! They really worked for me
i just wanna flat out say thank you, i just caught the most bass i’ve had in one day and also broke my pb by HALF A POUND. today was hands down the best day i’ve ever had on the water and i owe it to you. thank you so much 🙏🏼
Hey man I just wanna say your videos are always so professional you maintain eye contact with the camera it’s nice to feel like your being talked to directly. Good job man you got a faithful subscriber today
Dude, you are quickly becoming my #1 gotta watch fishing guru! I really like your no nonsense style. Lol. keep up the great content. Thanks for what you do!
In November around here in Central Washington I get out the thermals and winter wear, grab my fishing chair and golf umbrella. I can keep dry in nasty weather and the bass were still biting!
You’re slowly becoming my favorite fishing channel bro jeez it’s insane how much you have grown on me lmfao. Used to watch you for info but it’s more than that now
When we were in Minnesota we were out in the middle of the lake problably around 15 miles from our cabin. There was a pop up hail storm with golf ball sized hail. We were on a ledge and the first sign was a lightening bolt problably 3 miles from us the whole bait vibrated and thag was our sign to get going. We raced the whole storm back to the dock and didn’t have time to trailer the boat and cover it so we just barely beat it to the dock and after that no units were damaged but the hail destroyed a transducer up front and now we have a new helix 9 up front and new transducers. Glad we didn’t get caught in it and have to make a run and get hit in the head with hail.
@@BassFishingHQ I think I see what it was that I was reacting to. It relates to when you do the cut-to-closeup jumpcut thing to provide emphasis. For example, at 00:41 you go from the regular footage to a brief closer crop. During that time when it is close-cropped the footage is very slightly blurry. I assume this is because the software you are using to edit is just artificially zooming in to provide the closeup, in essence enlarging the image. None of this is a problem, I just find it interesting. Carry on.
One of the biggest bass ive caught is when it started hailing like crazy. Threw a trout swim bait bout 6 feet from me, hit it hard, nailed it. Then had to hike a mile plus in my waders so i didn’t get frost bite.
Tyler, I’m new to your channel and you’re already in my top five ranking for great instructional tips and enjoyable content. Regarding the wet cheeks syndrome - at my age I’m just relieved that they’re wet from the rain or something that I sat on rather than being self-moistened! (And by the way, no one runs from the British anymore.)
What about when it's 80⁰ one day and the next morning it a high of 50⁰ but it's raining. Usually the temp drops after rain. What about a cold spring rain?
I appreciate you addressing lightning. Lightening strikes are extremely rare, kinda like shark attacks. But the only reason that shark attacks are rare is because most people ant out in shark territory, flipping around like a top water bait, if they were than youd probably hear of alot more shark attacks. Anyways, the same goes for lightening, its very rare but if your in the middle of a lake with that graphite rod in hand, casting a potentially metal lure you highly encourage the lightening God's to strike you down! Ive thought about this alot on my kayak lol
Great video brother. This year has been loaded with rain. Your advice is extremely helpful. Going bass fishing today in the rain and will use your advice. We catch a lot of big walleye and pike in the rain, they're very aggressive in the rain too. Thank you for the advice and keep up the great work.
I’m debating on going fishing in the next hour to get out on the lake at 5am … there’s been thunder and lightning… I wanna go fishing but idk if it’ll move or not 😂 this video helped
I try and avoid rain as merely a comfort issue. Plus in summer in Texas it’s usually nasty thunderstorms and not soft gentle rains. One time my kid and I were on the water it started a super gentle sprinkle and we stayed there and kept fishing and really did well had ten in like thirty minutes was fun.
I know what you mean. Down in the south with all that heat, those storms that come through are vicious. The fishing can be great leading right up to it, but you definitely have to be safe
Great information. But when faced with dingy or dirty water would brighter colored lures work as well? And after the front passes have you ever considered bluff and bluff ends. I have had great success running this type of pattern 👍
Yes in dirty water, especially on moving lures, bright colors will work. Bluff and bluff ends are an area close to deep water like I talked about in the video. So bluffs are definitely a good choice if your lake has them
Another great video!! One question on this subject. What would you do via the rivers (Ohio river)? Would you still do the same things? Excited to hear your response. Keep up the great work!!
The river can be difficult, as I am sure you know. The number one thing there, is being in an area that has life. This requires time on the water covering water until you find that 100 yrd stretch that is holding a group of fish. Spinnerbait, squarebill, frog and soft plastics are gonna be your best friend seeing how a lot of the River fishes shallow
Dude I have a story for you! My dad took me and my son and his friend fishing. The lake cleared out. I said " dad we need to go in, the lake is empty". He said that was the best time to fish. It started lighting. He said time to go in. We got to bank and found out there were 3 tornado warnings around us. To make matters worse we couldn't get out of the water, dude in front of us couldn't get his house boat out. It took 10 of us standing on the front of the trailer to get him hooked up. To make matters even worse we had another tornado warning at that time. This was before cell phones. I bought him a weather radio. We were catching so much, he didn't want to leave.
Awesome video your tips help me out alot. You said one time that bass love to stay literally up against cover. I've been getting much better with a bait caster so the other day I made an almost perfect cast right next to some cover and boom! I caught one and all I could think was man you were right. That bass did not like my worm invading his home 😂
see thats the thing that scares me, as a person that came from seattle to virginia, i dont care if i get wet at all, but the thunderstorms here are ACTUALLY scary...usually i know the storm has passed when i hear a loud boom because it struck somewhere in the woods close to me lol
I dont catch didly squat when its raining. But i catchem before it rains of course..and after it rains its never good either for me as a bank fishermen on my lakes anyway.
I am sorry to hear that Travis. Every lake and body of water is a little bit different. Maybe try looking for an area where there is some water flow like I talked about on the video
@@BassFishingHQyour vids are awesome. I appreciate all the info you share with us. And its definitely just ware i fish the lakes are hard to get around unless you have a chainsaw..
I think this will be helpful as the barometer changes on sunny days, too. Adding to the safety list: Don’t walk into quicksand or slip on slick mud. Seriously, thunderclouds can send lightning miles away. Give them plenty of distance.
@@BassFishingHQ thanks for teaching! I started fishing 2 and a half months ago at 27. I’ve already got about 30 bass landed so far since then! All these tips work great people. Believe me

@@BassFishingHQ thanks for the content! Love the channel
Top water in the rain seems counterproductive.
Also I like to comment before watching so I can go back and read how stupid I was minutes before 😂
Where I live we rarely get a light sprinkle btw. Usually a chaotic downpour.

I didn’t see this when you uploaded it. But dude, this was the funniest yet most informative video ever lol
Awesome video Tyler! You made me lmao at times😜. Only because it's happened to me. Keep the vids coming👍

Great content, this is probably the most concise video I have seen about fishing before, during, and after rain. Thanks for the info bud!
Looks like you had some fun making the vid. Great tips for fishing the rain.
About to hit guntersville rn so just watched it! Wish luck! Only been fishing month!!
Dude, I just love your videos, all of them.
Yeah the storm advice is good stuff, my dad had a bolt hit the water 100 feet from him. We stop fishind gtfo the first time we hear thunder now lol
Really like what you have to say, it relates very closely to my area being you're a buckeye which is very close to my normal fishing area..
Its about to rain at lake Lanier. Imma try some of the things you said
Someone had a cold brew today. 😂 almost lookin like you had too much fun makin this video.
Some of my best fishing days have come during the rain, especially at a spot where water rushes in.
Yup your exactly right. Those little areas where water is coming in can hold giant schools
