Yeah, I went through all of this myself during the pandemic. I had the 245M, then I got the 6s, then I decided I wanted to ditch the tracker all together and went back to wearing my luxury automatic watches (still do now) and love that. I told myself I did not need (or care) about all the stats all the time as I was just doing the same thing day in and day out. But, I was curious and told myself, hey I can have both.. so I bought the Aviator. It was great for about 3 weeks, and then I realized what a mistake it was to spend so much on it. The reason I did it, was simple. I wanted a luxury watch and a tracker in one. So, for that reason it worked. But, it does not wear like any of my other watches (way too bulky compared to my Omegas Tudors etc) and I still miss wearing "a real watch". Not to mention the fact of it being totally useless in 5 - 7 years. The problem with Garmin (or any tracker) is that to get the most from it, you need to wear it 24/7. It just is what it is. So, you either need to be okay with that or pony up the $2k and be okay re-spending that every few years to keep it current and not build any sentimental attachment to it, which I cant seem to avoid and is why I keep avoiding trackers altogether.
Well said. This is why once the wearable rings mature to a certain point of feature maturity I intend on wearing my mechanical watches along with a smart ring.
Feel where you’re coming from after following your journey and the switch to Apple and back again. After seeing this update, the Marq may be an over correction that the Epix would have satisfied. This is coming from someone that’s bounced between both ecosystems as well. But man, the Marq is beautiful.
Good video and good for you knowing yourself well enough to know what you want and go for it even if it's not the most practical. We all deserve to treat ourselves.
Incredible Watch bro, I have the epix deluxe version with the leather strap. I saw it in a jewelry shop last week and didn’t realize it was my watch. I wanted to buy it immediately till I realized i already owned it 😂
Hi Max, I agree with you in all terms. Wonderful watch, no need for wearing two watches. Instead of wearing one „real“ watch and one smartwatch, this beautiful watch does it all. I‘m looking for a watch for helping me to get fit again between the chemotherapy cycles. Because I love speed hiking, this special watch seems to be the right choice for me. A long time ago I used a Garmin GPS eTrex Vista HCx for hiking. Very good but very, very slow! I would like to see your new watch „in action“, to find the right path on a hike. Btw. At the moment the Marq Adventurer Performance Edition costs €1600 (1746 US$) here in Germany. I think I should grab it! Please stay healthy! P.S. Correction. The price I mentioned above stands for the Generation 1 of the Garmin MARQ Adventurer
Been a Garmin user for years, starting with Fenix 3 and moved onto Fenix 5x, Venu 2 Plus, and now an Epix 2. I'm also a watch enthusiast and really prefer to wear my swiss auto's when I'm in client meetings and board rooms. This seems like the happy medium, however I just can't bring myself to do it. Regardless of how nice it looks, and the quality of construction, all smartwatches loose nearly 100% of their value extremely quickly. The logical me says stay away, and put my money into another Swiss watch which will retain value if not increase in value.
Yeah, that’s what I have in my mind as well! An Omega Speedmaster, even 3 time more expensive than the MARQ, will still hold 60% of its value in 10 years. But these MARQ will be $0 in 4 years the next day when Gen 3 is introduced. For smartwatch, i would only pay more for functionality.
I want to finish watching this but the auto focus is making me motion sick. Give yourself some more focus area/depth of field, try some lights and F4 or F5.6 instead of F1.4 or F2.8. I appreciate the watch insight though and it helped me with my decisions.
Max, how does the leather band cope with pool swims? I am almost pulling the trigger for this watch while training for thriathlon. But I worry about the leather strap.
I think I’ll try to just to keep one band on. The Adventurer comes with the same silicone band that the Athlete uses (and maybe the Epix?) but unless the leather wears terribly I’ll stick to that - seems to be holding up well so far. Gets predictably darker after sweat/pool workouts but dries in a few hours.
Hello, do you think that Garmin has a technical service that will replace your battery when it stops working? How much do you think this watch has a long life for the price it is worth? Thank you
It's a beautiful watch, but for adventure, I'm puzzled why it has a leather strap? I have the much cheaper Instinct 2 Solar Tactical. I absolutely love my watch. The battery is brilliant. That said, I bought it with cost in mind. If cost was not a factor, there are other Garmin watches that I would have bought. The most expensive Marq is The Driver. For aesthetics, I probably like The Captain America edition best, but they are all beautiful. Of course a watch must have functionality, but I think in the end it comes down to feel and style. It's partly a fashion statement, since it's always on your wrist. If I get bored with my Instinct and have extra money to spend, I will upgrade to an Epix or Marq. I'm not sure you really sold me on the difference between Ultra, Fenix or Marq, but it does seem that you made a lot of your choice because of style/build and that is fair enough. The Ultra has nowhere near the style or battery life for me. I'm not an Apple Watch fan, although I do use an Iphone.
aople watch has a 1 day battery life lol enough said . and its basically a low quality phone on your wrist . garmin is more realistic as a smart watch. gives you all you need , and if you need more use your phone lol . like texting and phone calls . garmin has a new texting feature and my enduro of 36 day battery life..
Congrats with the Marq. Great choice. Will be hard to resist the additional Marq straps :-)The jacquard straps are a verry nice add on, they are verry comfortable and have a luxury sports type of vibe. The titanium on the marq is higher quality finish then on the ultra, it’s better polished, higher grade. Is all so has a full titanium casing including the back.
Great update Max! I know it's very early days, but thus far, I'm glad you're enjoying the MARQ as much as you thought you would. As you noted, it's is a bit of an indulgence, but it's something you will use and thoroughly enjoy DAILY. I hope you get years of use and enjoyment from it. I'll look forward to further updates as time goes on, to the extent your interest and inclination persists.
Yeah same thought about the updates and potentially the battery. I have a garmin Fenix which is enough for me. I’d rather spend that on a watch I could pass down to my kid. I have a vintage Rolex that’s worth about $3k from my grandfather and will give to my daughter when she’s old enough.
You didn’t show enough bias in favour of one viewpoint over another, that lead me to feel indifferent towards the Garmin. I effectively didn’t know what to conclude!
It's for sure. I thought buying it but went with a Fenix 7X pro Solar Saphire and keep the rest of the money and I will buy a well known brand watch for this amount and it will be usable after 10 years also. :)

I would only be able to justify such a purchase if I was training for something as intense as an IronMan. Good luck with yours!
They added AFIB tracking to that watch. So you're good now with the best watch.
I like your honesty on why you got it and why your keeping it. That band is very nice! I like the functionality of the Tactix but this is my fav too!
Just bought one today and i did it for the same reasons. I also have the epix pro but this is special
those with maps on Garmin devices during the apocalypse will rule the world.
Feel where you’re coming from after following your journey and the switch to Apple and back again.

No one brings up that its just a beautiful looking watch. All smartwatches look absolutely terrible.
Good video and good for you knowing yourself well enough to know what you want and go for it even if it's not the most practical. We all deserve to treat ourselves.

Are you going to do another video just going over the watch? Like the things it have? Watch faces? Maps? I really wanted to see that.

Hi Max . How is this watch holding up ?
I sold my fenix7 and will buy this soon
Great presentation, agree with the beauty effect of this watch...it s the best looking sportswatch ever
Is this the gen 1 or gen 2 ?
Gen 2 with the oled
Great review, first person to bring up the heart fib. function diff vs venue.. On the wall for this vs epix vs waiting for next version of either.

Hahah I'm glad you noticed this too! Lol I didn't finish the video. Was looking for this comment lol ❤
Max, how does the leather band cope with pool swims? I am almost pulling the trigger for this watch while training for thriathlon. But I worry about the leather strap.
I wouldn't use the leather strap for the pool. mine shipped with an additional black silicone too
Leather is not meant to go in water….
Do you think you will stick with the leather band for training? Great video. I’m super close to selling AWU for an Epix 2.
I think I’ll try to just to keep one band on. Any update how the leather hybrid band doing? Would you recommend?
My friend keep your Apple Watch.Garmin is crap.A lot issues with hardware and the updates only for 2,5 years.Dont make mistake
GARMIN RULES!!!
The color of your eyes is pretty cool man.
Hello, do you think that Garmin has a technical service that will replace your battery when it stops working? How much do you think this watch has a long life for the price it is worth? Thank you
Does the MARQ 2 come with a two-year warranty? How are the goal notifications?
Love your reviews, but please stop shooting in HDR 😵💫
Thank you so much for review.

So tempted to jump from the Tactix 7 to this. But damn. $2100.
Ok.what I understood is that this watch makes you happy lol
Where did you get the leather strap?
The adventure version has this strap.
Too much talk, not enough products close-up ;-)
I wouldnt say too much talk, however, many of us are here to the closeup, multiangle, going thru watch menus, etc as well
Goodness, please get that focus issue squared away. Unable to watch the whole video because of it.
garmin marq is like buying a 3 thousand analog watch. same concept more luxury build and look. its a finesse smart watch .
aople watch has a 1 day battery life lol enough said . and its basically a low quality phone on your wrist . garmin is more realistic as a smart watch. gives you all you need , and if you need more use
your phone lol . like texting and phone calls . garmin has a new texting feature and my enduro of 36 day battery life..

The only thing which I’m afraid of for such a watch. Updates will only supported for … years?

Drats, the 965 was just announced!
I think you made the right decision
You didn’t show enough bias in favour of one viewpoint over another, that lead me to feel indifferent towards the Garmin. I effectively didn’t know what to conclude!
Great video
Def nice watch but cant pay 2000 for a watch i payed 1100 for my epix pro which is fantastic but still expensive but def worth it
You can listen to music on a garmin....
The apple is a boring square girly feminine watch period. The Garmin is a beautiful masculine watch for men. The world is tiring of girly boys!
So nice I like the adventure it’s only 1900😂
He ditched the ultra to make more content!!!!
Should have saved your money and waited for the 965..I think you’ll find the Marq to heavy for sports use.
Weighs about the same as the larger Fenix 7X. It's not in the luxury watch category in terms of weight.
emotional purchase.. But monetising it on Your tube is rational. Lol
I’m close to selling the AWU for the Garmin Descent Mk2i
Once you start doing any sports you figure out really quickly that Apple Watch is a pure joke. Reason is their battery life. Nothing to talk about.
I love garmin
I have garmin marq gen 2 . Its really useless. Everything is advertisement. Very cruel. Its useless 8n boating sailing anchoring all not work well
Show the watch bro we don’t want to see you taking about it
I dont want to be that guy but I think it's overpriced.
It's for sure. I thought buying it but went with a Fenix 7X pro Solar Saphire and keep the rest of the money and I will buy a well known brand watch for this amount and it will be usable after 10 years also. :)
I just got my eye number increased due to your auto focus. Pathetic camera although it says HDR
It’s good but it’s way way overpricedY
minecraft
Worthless
Hideously long-winded video. 🥱
Is this the gen 1 or 2?
