You skipped the most important feature of the screen. Yes it is low resolution but it’s that way for a reason, you can see it under light. No backlight needed, just put it towards any kind of light source and you can see the screen. It is VERY VERY visible, which is highly important in terms of battery saving and outdoor fitness. And sailing, I guess...
Have you thought about doing a watch from the Fenix line. Yes they are super athlete tuned, but having worn an older generation of them they are fantastic smart watches that you can just beat on day in and day out (again without needing to charge every night). However, Pebble disappeared and eventually o got tired of having to charge my watch every 3 days (and that was better than most). Got myself a Fenix 6 Sapphy and honestly it's miles above anything else. Battery is crazy and can be customized with power modes, fitness tracking is the best, GPS, build quality, scratj resistance, smartwatch features, true always on display that I don't have to worry in battery life, water resistance... And the list goes on! I can't believe it took me so long to discover Garmin watches
when you mention heft..funny thing is, titanium is made to replace stainless steel as lighter but same strength metal..also a lot of people would love a lighter watch for exercise or daily activities, try running several hours with 100 grams on your wrist and you'll see why you want the lightest watch..
my Fenix 3HR still functions the same as I bought it 5 years. Even the battery is still good. About 5-6 days without running. 3-4 days if I run everyday. I expect MARQ would last 10-15 years.

excellent video as always
I almost bought the captain, went with the Athlete Performance instead...and I love it so much.
Do you still have it? Did you wish you waited on the gen 2
@@soa2444 I do still have it…and while it would have been nice to have the gen 2…the gen 1 cost 2 grand…while I don’t mind dropping that and a little more on a traditional Tag or Omega.
I doubt I’ll ever spend that much on a smart watch ever again. If anything I wish I had known they were coming out with the Garmin tactical…I do quite a bit of crazy shit…and that watch would be ideal for most of it.
Thanks for the review!
The downside of a better / higher resolution display is that it will most likely compromise on battery life.
Buttons on a smart watch isn’t taking a step back, it’s genius. You could have gloves on, wet or dirty hands and still operate it.
Lo
Have you thought about doing a watch from the Fenix line. Yes they are super athlete tuned, but having worn an older generation of them they are fantastic smart watches that you can just beat on day in and day out (again without needing to charge every night). Plus they at an approachable price point compared to the MARQ series.
Every time I watch one of your Smartwatch reviews it makes me want to reconsider smartwatches, but when the video is over and the lust is over I remind myself that I don’t care about notifications, music on a watch, and that the watch will be obsolete in a few years. Still though, I love your videos keep up the good work.
I love smartwatches, ever since I owned the pebble steel and then the Gear S3 frontier.

Thanks for a great review, *Captain* !
my Fenix 3HR still functions the same as I bought it 5 years. Even the battery is still good. About 5-6 days without running. 3-4 days if I run everyday. I expect MARQ would last 10-15 years.
Pogs and slammers reference, excellent.
