When Michael said that the Garmin was expensive, my watch brain was expecting something like 10k. Oh okay, less than an Oris Aquis. But my tech brain is like... no smart watch is worth that much, that's the price of a laptop.
Yep. I thought the same. "Expensive? By watch measures that's 5k on the lower end and everything above. In tech? 800$ and above." When I heard the pricetag (it's a cool watch tbh, looks like a Tag Heuer Calibre 16), my jaw just dropped. For 1500$ you can get an Oris Aquis Date, and for the 300$ remaining you can get that ticwatch pro 4g.

Garmin its nice and still rocking F3HRS but Marq series its obsolete for me not because the price but for total separation of capabilities. Internally are these watches are same but you dont have same functionality by software and you cant download these specific applications. Garmin watches was always for active people and its now useless if i do paragliding and week later yachting and month later week in wild. Also that comparison its lite unfair for Garmin because you compare absolute top from Garmin. You could compare Fenix 5 plus and which cost around 600usd and will left Casio and China in dust.
I love Xiaomi Amazfit Pace because the battery lasts for two weeks. Transreflective display makes it visible direct to sunlight. It's cheap and has a long battery life.
I don't use a smartwatch, just a watch, and my favorite brand is a seiko, just buy a really good watch that you can some day give to your sons, it's a personal accessorie that identifies yourself
Poeple don't buy smartwatches just for use as a watch, if someone wants something to navigate or call with on their wrist then your suggestion to those poeple to just buy a normal watch is pretty pointless.
Totally agree, a smartwatch over $1500.00 is not worth buying. This is an age where smartwatches are introduced almost every quarter so not sure if investing this kind of money on a smartwatch is going to be a smart move.
Exactly....just bought the Nubia Alpha dont judge lol I knew what I was getting from the start...normally on Ebay and few other sites its was going between 450-900 but I got mine for 300.....Ah china we got a love hate relationship!

As a watch enthusiast I really do understand the appeal of smartwatches, but like Michael said, I would never spend money on a watch that'll be obsolete in a few years. If you liked the look of the Garmin check out the Longines Hydroconquest. You'll save a grand and it'll last a lifetime.
To see the amount of RAM on the device, switch it off. Then press hold Down button and power on the watch, later it'll switch to a kind of service menu where it displays the amount of RAM it has and some other info with many hardware tests...
If the MARQ Captain is too pricey, check out the Quatics. Honestly, Garmin has a wide range of watches at various price points. This is definitely on the high-end, but was designed to be that way. The resolution is low to improve battery life. The features and gorgeous design are where the price comes in. The Hauwei GT is the sweet spot though.
I'm surprised that you haven't tried Skagen Falster 2. Agreed it's not a drastically different smartwatch, but it's the kind of watch that wins looks over everything else.
1.850 $ i didn't saw that one coming. I mean the "1" in front of 850. If it was capable of having all the necessary tech that a daily user might need. I would've considered buying it. Especially with that exceptional battery life.

I love my fenix 6x I’d upgrade tommorow to a marq. But I’m having issues because basically functionality is almost identical to my 6x at less than half price. I don’t see double the money in that case and strap.

Just be careful. I have a friend that had his Fitbit watch die twice on him in just over a year, and apparently replacements don't reset the warranty clock so they wouldn't help him the second time it happened. Pissed him off so much he switched to Garmin.
As with the other response post I would recommend getting the extended warranty from squaresoft (I believe its $40 if you get it initially, 50 if within a month) so instead of a 1 year warranty you get a 2 year. Unless you tend to flip fitness trackers every year or so. The Versa is a decent watch for fitness, not so much as a smartwatch. Get is on sale for $170 or so...But I wouldn't pay $200 cause there is always someplace that is running a sale for them. I had the Versa but then returned it for the Ionic cause it was on sale for $200. Again, decent Fitness Tracker, decent build, not a great smartwatch.

I agree and disagree...If your looking for 3 years or so out of a smartwatch then I think that is perfectly fine...Even 5 if they are willing to simply update the firmware etc, which seems more then reasonable for an electronic watch.
I don't have a smart watch, just a dumb watch, so I'm wondering why do watches like the ticwatch have numbers round the bezel? It's like a slide rule on an analogue chronograph or something, except it doesn't move so...
You might be surprised to know that if a wear OS watch is laggy then just turn off the Auto Brightness. And AoD on with Raise to Wake off is the best way to get a bit of additional battery life.
I still have a lg urbane 2 lte, it has lte, nfc for payments, 1.5-2 day battery still. I don't know what they would have to add to new watches for me to upgrade

You didn't say in the video, but would you recommend these watches above the Galaxy? I have the original tic watch pro and it's very inconsistent... Sometimes it's fast, sometimes it's slow, sometimes I can answer calls on the watch, sometimes I can't...

The Garmin was great 'til I heard the price. Already got a Swiss Automatic that will never be more obsolete than it already is; don't need to pay the same again for a piece of tech that will be useless in 2 years. Glad this point was picked up on in the video.
Should check out Amazfit smartwatches. Battery life of close to a week, transflective screens and an affordable price tag. I like, but I've gone back to an old Pebble Time Steel which is still my favorite (would be more so if it did NFC Payments).
Titanium case, sapphire crystal, battery life, app support it has the hard ware to not be outdated for years to come if the models get reduced to around 1,000 brittish pounds its a consideration.
nowadays ... the less you pay for a smart watch ... the more features you will get ... i think a $200 - $300 price tag is a sweet spot for a smartwatch ... price to value is excellent ...
My partner loves her Garmin D2 Charlie aviator watch. She uses it all the time to track her flights with complete precision, and uses the track with CloudAhoy and FlightAware to plot the trip so she can review it with her instrument rating instructor. It's a great watch and cost less than HALF what the Captain cost you. I'm still muddling along with my Ticwatch Pro. The only thing I don't like about it isn't Mobvoi's fault -- Google stopped supporting the Hangouts app, so I can't see my chat history past February 19th. And I haven't figured out how to replace Hangouts on the bottom button with some other app they DO support. Annoying.

The biggest issue I had with the two-layer screen was that you couldn't change the length of time the OLED screen would be visible before it would switch to the low-power LCD. But StayLit Wear lets you change the length of time before the LCD is activated! Instead of the default 5 seconds, I have it currently set to 15 seconds! It doesn't hit the battery too hard, and I can read all of those intricate little details on some of my watchfaces, including the Google Maps navigation watchface. Most useful app I have for the TicWatch Pro. (I don't have any relationship with the company, and I bought my own copy.)

I realized that I was addicted to my Apple Watch when I noticed that I literally could not ignore a notification while talking to someone. Which was a problem. I decided to bite the bullet and get rid of my Series 6 and go back to a mechanical wristwatch ( I upgraded my Rolex DateJust to a PVD coated Explorer II that I had been lusting after for years). I still got phantom notification feelings on my wrist for weeks, thinking that a Taptic Engine was tapping me, it was very eerie. In the ensuing 6 months, I have seen the value of my new watch go up 46% (Thank you insane watch market!) something that you would never see with an electronic watch, so I am a happy camper. We will see if Apple ever lures me back to an electronic watch!
Do the Garmin! It's way too expensive. It has flaws. It's annoying, but it's full of personality and it's quite special. Would be great if you could get the pilot version for testing, too.
I still wish that something like Pebble would be released. I still wear a Pebble, heck, I've written my own services to keep it working, and I enjoy it and it's price much more over one of these watches

I have the Amazfit Bip for an entire year and I'm totally down with this watch. its non obstructive and only comes up when I need it.

Wow, I never would have thought smartwatches would match or beat top tier smart phones prices.
The only thing tough enough for daily wear on my wrist is a G shock.
Any "smart" features needed are covered by my phone.
