Returning Viewer/Subscriber. I think first video I saw of yours was the A7iii Meike Grip. Appreciate your insights/reviews/comparisons/tutorials to help with my hobby. Shooting A7R4, currently with 90mm f2.8 Macro (yes, watched your video 👍🏽). Keep it up Chris. Thank you for all of the information over the years.
Thank you for this. Been wanting to try full time photography again and I was thinking of real estate gigs for the moment and I plan on getting a gimbal and this video reassured me to get it 🥲
I suppose its worth noting that if 14mm is just a little tooooooo wide, you can always turn on active stabilization in your A7siii/FX3 (Others, idk?) and get a 1.1x or so crop. That'll take you to just shy of 16mm.
@@chrisbrockhurst It comes in Thursday and I plan to take it to Zion National Park all of next week so I'll be throwing it into the deep end fairly quickly. I'll let you know my thoughts after the trip!
I’m new to photography but I’ve been looking into real estate photography just out of interest. And can I ask does a wide angle lense for real estate not make a room look bigger than it actually is? Is it not misleading at times if you use a wide angle lens in a small room but then someone arrives and thinks “my god this looks bigger in the pictures “. What’s your opinion on this?
Yes it’s a bit disingenuous, however most marketing is. Also I agree the person will feel “WTF” but the whole point of posting a photo that’s enticing is to get people walking through the door to see the place.
Shot my first real estate video this weekend, used the tamron 17-28 and it turned out great, do you ever worry about this lens feeling too distorted on the edges when shooting kitchens and bathrooms? Will the corners look really bad? Love your channel
Hi! Do you know if its normal that something moves inside the lens, like a floating optics or something? I just got mine and im worried it might be broken
"if you need a lens for photo, video, real estate, landscape, architecture, ASTRO, or you vlog . . ." Well, you did mention it there. Hey, you got a second view from me at least!
No ND Filter thread is the big k.o. criteria since no sony camery below fx6 offers internal NDs. Would have been a good match for the FX3 if it had NDs.
Hi Chris, I'm a little late to the comment party, but for real estate photo & video would you recommend the 14mm GM or the 20mm G? Just worried about the 14 being a little too wide and distorty
Hi Chris I’m looking to do some landscaping picks but not shore which lens to go for . I shoot on a Sony a7111 . Not shore if to go for Sony 1.4 or Sam yang 1.4 . Can you help please . I won’t be using it every day as I live in the city From jason
I have the Zeiss f4 16-35 that I’ve used for real estate. I debated on the Tamron 17-28 but decided to keep my 16-35. I don’t yet do enough shoots to justify the price but I may have to save up.
@@MikeViolo it works great for me. Once or twice I’ve had to get creative in the corner of a room to get more in the shot but overall not bad. Plus I got a good price used so it’s paid for itself. I don’t do enough jobs (yet) to justify that GM price tag on the 14mm. Maybe one day.
It's interesting how does Emmanuel Lubezki achieves nice looking portrait imaginary with such a wide lens? Or does he use better lenses with no such distortion?
I’m not aware of Emmanuel. You can get portraits but they would be pretty far from the lens to get anything decent, then it argues the point that you could use something else. Each to their own though!
@@chrisbrockhurst I think you are aware if you at least watched “Revenant”. He uses wide angle lenses in every movie he shoots and gets great looking image imho.
Most professional real estate videographers that I came across use the Laowa 12mm as their main lens. You don't even mention it... I guess that lens is the real competitor, at least for real estate.
There’s an editing error in here but it works perfectly so I left it in 😅
I honestly thought that was intentional lol
It was, but the clip was meant to be something else.. the missing media part worked still ha
This really make me think what should I get for real state work, awesome video like always Chris! Cheers from Argentina 🤘🏼
Defiantly the 14 for real estate
@@chrisbrockhurst would you go for the samyang 14mm AF or the sony 16-35F4 for realestate work specifically?🤔

I think this might be goof for hyper lapses. Love that shot with the gimbal 👌🏻👏🏻
I think I'll stick with the Sigma 14-24 for the my needs, but if I were still in the market for a wide lens, I would definitely consider this one.
Agreed, no need to switch

Hey Chris, great video! Just purchased the Sigma 24-70 for my A7iii yesterday. Looks like I have another lens to look forward to down the road!
ahhh the old faithful. How you liking it?

i wish you can compare this len to the laowa 12mm and the Samyang 14mm 2.8

Hi Chris, great video. Question for you is the A7R4 with 14mm lens good for Weebill S?
Hmmm might be a tad heavy
@@chrisbrockhurst what about the Ronin Rs 2?
Good review as always, thank you.
It would have been fun to see how this lens would work in crop mode or on an 6600 series body as a vlogging lens.

Hi christ, i do have 16-35 f4 like you but like landscape photography thats is why i want to buy, f 1.8 also is one of the motivation.
Thank you for this video, I’ve been debating whether to get this lens or not.
My pleasure!
Hi! Do you know if its normal that something moves inside the lens, like a floating optics or something? I just got mine and im worried it might be broken
Hey Chris love your videos, but the Sigma 14-24mm f2.8 is where it's at, especially on an A7Siii :)
Each to their own :)
you didn't mention astrophotography (or did you?). I bought this lens just for that. Can't wait to try it out
"if you need a lens for photo, video, real estate, landscape, architecture, ASTRO, or you vlog . . ." Well, you did mention it there. Hey, you got a second view from me at least!
Lucky you mate. I will definitely pick up this lens for astro, I'm sure it'll smash the Laowa 15mm F2 that I currently use.
didnt have a chance to test it but on paper its the perfect astro lens
This lens may be the nail in the coffin that gets me to switch to Sony.
Just because of its portrait abilities though right?
@@chrisbrockhurst 😂😂
I like your studio footage like when your talking 1:46 skin tone is so dramatic, did you set your camera in HLG or Slog?
Slog3
@@chrisbrockhurstthanks, which lut do u use? Im using DVR btw
14 1.8 or the 16 35 power zoom f4? Please help me decide. Which one would you go for. I have 24 1.4 gm

yeh it wont be for everyone unless your happy cranking the shutter
Could u do a comparison against the laowa 12mm pls?
If you are a landscape or astrophotographer on a budget, the Rokinon 14mm 2.8 MF is a great option.

20 isn't wide enough in my opinion. Go for the 14 or 16-35
@@chrisbrockhurst thanks 🙏 I need for my job is electrician activity and work
Would you recommended the 16 35 Gm

Sony is a better lens overall but a lot more. If you have the budget get the Sony, you won’t regret it
Hi Chris, which one would you recommend between Sony 70-200 f4 and tamron 70-180 f2.8 ?
Sony 70-200 F4

Do you find the function buttons on these lenses as being useful?
Occasionally but the AF is so good I don’t need them
could i hold my 82mm polarizer in front of it for waterfalls? :)
good review thanks but no b-roll of lens on camera? infact no b-roll of lens at all so no size comparison. Other than that awesome review
I am not interested in the lens .. but I like your reviews

It’s a manual lens, not good for speed and efficiency to be totally honest.
Damn it! I had to watch at .25 speed and rewind 3 times to catch it, but yes… Robert DeNiro for sure!
Hahahaha yes!!
Looks great! But if you’re gunna spend that money on the 14mm f1.8! Def look at the Sigma 14-24mm f2.8 that lens is Money! For real

Yeh I mentioned that at the end, this is SO much smaller than it though, much easier for balancing on a gimbal etc. Both great options
