I am a 68 yo black woman. My mother was born with a patch of white hair in the front of her head. I look just like my Mom. I started to develop a white patch when I turned 16yo. My daughter looks like me and my Mom. She developed a white patch at 17 yo. She has a daughter who looks exactly like my Mom. She will be 16 this year. My daughter and I are breathlessly waiting to see if she will develop the white patch and at what age. My white patch turned into a entire head of white hair with some gray patches. If I say so myself....it is beautiful.
You're racking up the likes, so I'll add one more. I met up with my girlfriend from the 80s and I she'd developed into a silver fox. Looked great, but she's crazy. Spending time with her in the hood turned my beard WHITE in 9 days. It initially looked like I had been hit with a lighting bolt, big streak, then spread. But the hair on my head might have 5 grey strands total.
My great-grandmother had jet-black hair but developed a white streak in her twenties. Unfortunately it didn't get passed down to the rest of us but I love looking at old photos of her back then. It was such a cool look.

He directed Kevin Spacey to his Oscar for Verbal Kint in Suspects, and Rami Malek to his Oscar for Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody. - The chemistry between Sir Ian McKellen (Magneto) and Sir Patrick Stewart (Professor X) is one of the highlights of these films. They knew of each other before X-Men, as they are both well regarded and established stage actors with lots of Shakespeare roles between them, but had never met in real life. Since then, they have become best friends. They are extremely close...in fact, when Patrick married his wife, Sunny, Ian officiated the nuptials. They have done plays together in London and New York as well as other X-Men films. These men are the definition of friendship goals.
Prof X, Magneto and Wolverine together on The Graham Norton show is perhaps the single best episode of any late night talk show ever. Their respect and love for each other and the brotherhood they formed stand out and their stories are hilarious. Sir Pat Stew 😄
Slight correction about referring to Superman Returns as a reboot... Superman Returns is, actually, meant to be a direct continuation/sequel to the original Superman movies with Christopher Reeve. They basically ignored the 3rd and 4th movies but, it is meant to be in the same movie universe as the original two (which is why they incorporated footage of Marlon Brando as Jor-El from the first film). Just to distinguish it from something like Man of Steel, which is a proper reboot (i.e. it starts the story from scratch & exists in its own separate universe from the Christopher Reeve films). But, everything else you mentioned is correct! Great sum-up!! ☺
@@SwiftFoxProductions You are right, in a way. It was trying to start the franchise up again, but yes it was exactly as you said. I already had a long post, so...I fudged it a bit. Cyclops optic blasts are concussive. There’s no heat. He can also punch a hole through a mountain. He’s one of the most dangerous and courageous members of the X-Men. He also can’t turn off the blasts. He must always wear ruby-quartz lenses to screen the force.
@@gigi-ij1hk I mean...Wolverine was originally intended to be a mutated Wolverine rather than a mutant Canadian. So...yeah...a little off base. But I don't really blame her. To my knowledge, there are zero Wolverines naturally occurring in Oklahoma.
He'd already been signed as Gandalf before filming began on X-Men but the shoot overran. Peter Jackson rearranged the shoot in NZ to accommodate Ian finishing X-Men with Bryan Singers help. He finished on a Friday, jumped on a plane on the Saturday and was filming at Bag End on the Monday.

Do Superman (1978) ,soon. You will love Christopher Reeves as Clark Kent/ Superman and he really sold his dual roles. He made you believe Clark was a stumble bum and as soon as he took off the glasses, you saw Superman.
I always like to make Fun Facts. One thing I hate is when someone gets mad at you for making a fun fact. Someone got mad at me just for saying Magneto son is Quicksilver and his daughter is Scarlet Witch. I said its not spoiling the story lol
The opening of this film really gives it gravitas. You've got to watch 'Blade'. That's the real if unofficial start of the Marvel superhero films, not to mention an influence on 'The Matrix'. And it's a really good film.
The overweight trucker who gives Rogue a lift in the beginning and is the one who was "napping" during Wolverine's bar brawl is the original voice actor for Beast in the 90's animated X-Men.
If you’ve ever been discriminated for being gay, or being black, or being Jewish u Understand x men there’s lots of civil rights movement going Also, magneto, Xavier may see things differently, but they both have mutual respect for each other so that’s why they was playing chess together
Don't know which cartoon you used to watch, but X-Men '97 (2024) is currently the best adaptation in the entire franchise. Highly recommended even to those who have never seen the 90s show.
Rogue is extremely powerful, she just can't control her power. If she touches you temporarily, if you're a mutant for example, she will absorb their powers. If she was to touch you too long, she could kill or send that person into a deep coma and she would keep that power permanently. The Rogue version in the movies kind of got screwed over because she is far more powerful in the comics. In the comics she permanently took the powers of a powerful Marvel character. Since X-Men and the MCU rights were ran by different movie companies at the time, Rogue couldn't have that Marvel's character's powers. Trying not to spoil, but Jay should know if he watched the cartoons from the early 90s. Sabertooth has fast healing like Wolverine does BTW.
Awesome reaction vid, thanks for this one. Fun obscure fact, the guy who was asleep in the bar when Logan shows off his claws is the voice actor for Beast in the original X-men cartoon series
Ian McKellan steals the damn show. Every one of his lines lives rent free in my head. "You homo sapiens and yer *guns!* " *Dart to Neck* "...Young people." Charles: Humanity has evolved since then. Eric: Yes. Into us.
That 'young people' is my favourite. For just a moment, this badass supervillain becomes just a crotchety old man who's one step away from telling Wolverine to get a haircut lol.
@@zufgh Fun fact? My first usage of the phrase: "Look at those damn kids..." Came at age 10. (I was talking about high schoolers. My dad did a double take.)
Ironic bit of casting; the actor who plays Toad is Ray Park; who is better known for playing Darth Maul in Star Wars - Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999). Also, this is the second time that Sir Patrick Stewart (Xavier) and Famke Janssen (Jean Grey) worked together on screen. They first worked together when Janssen guest-starred on an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987-1994). In that episode, her character was an empath who had developed a relationship with Captain Picard (Stewart).
Toad, possesses a number of amphibian-like mutant abilities. His most well-known power is his superhuman leaping ability, allowing him to jump vast distances and heights. Additionally, his legs are incredibly strong, enabling him to propel himself with great force. Over time, Toad's mutation has evolved, granting him new abilities. These include a long, prehensile tongue that he can use for grappling and attacks, as well as the ability to secrete a sticky mucus that can adhere to surfaces and even trap opponents
Imagine going into this already being a fan of the comic books in the 60, 70s, 80s and 90s. We were making comparisons left and right to see what source material it followed and what it didn't. It was enjoyable.
The first time my brother and I saw Patrick Stewart walk onto the bridge of the Starship Enterprise, we looked at each other and said It's Charles Xavier!!! He was born to play this role. :D P.S. - I'm old and saw ST:TNG in its original air run in 1987.
I was a fan since the 80's. When I heard any news about a comic book movie being made I tried my damndest to get a y behind the scene production information cause I was so eager to see *any* comic book adaptation on the screen. Odd that back the it was difficult to get any info while today info spreads if we want it to or not and people get so mad about spoilers. I remember reading in Wizard magazine that director Brian Singer banned any of his cast and crew from reading the comics at all. He didn't want them to be influenced by the source material so they could only create what he wanted. Jackman still went around him to learn about Wolverine and it shows in his dedication to the character.
Great reaction! Wolverine is not like a wolf...he's like a wolverine, which is smaller and more similar to a badger than a wolf, but one of the most fearsome creatures in nature, with long claws. They mainly exist now in Alaska and Canada. A bit of interesting trivia for you: Here are some of the iconic roles which were first offered to Sean Connery, but he turned them down: 1) Magneto in these movies 2) Gandolf in Lord of the Rings 3) Morpheus in the Matrix 4) Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter 5) John Hammond in Jurassic Park 6) The male lead in Alfred Hitchcocks The Birds 7) He was considered for the role of Deckard in Blade Runner, but Harrison Ford got the part 8) Simon Gruber, the bad guy from Die Hard 9) Frank Horrigan from In the Line of Fire, the role played by Clint Eastwood 10) The lead role in Instinct, that was played by Anthony Hopkins 11) The terrorist in The Jackal, that was played by Bruce Willis 12) Ed Lewis from Pretty Woman, that was played by Richard Gere 13) King Richard in drag, from Robinhood: Men in Tights 14) The lead role in the classic movie Shogun 15) He was considered for the role of Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music 16) Live and Let Die, a James Bond movie he turned down 17) On Her Majesty's Secret Service, another James Bond movie
Oh Mercy! I'm glad he either turned down or was passed over for most of those roles on that list. The Sound of Music? REALLY??? Someone else would have to do his singing. Deckard in Blade Runner??? NOOO!!! Gandalf? NOOOO!
@@NavvyMom Christopher Plummer got the role in "The Sound of Music." And someone else did do the singing. I believe that he and the Mother Superior were the only characters in that film whose singing voices were dubbed by others.
@@bobbuethe1477 Okay, thanks for the info on Plummer. I always wondered but wasn't sure. Just looked it up. He sang on camera but Bill Lee was dubbed over. Awesome job by Lee to sync audio to Plummer's mouth movements. But getting back to Connery, I don't like his speaking voice. He always sounds like he has marbles in his mouth.
@@NavvyMom I only knew it because a couple of hours ago, my wife and I watched a "Sound of Music" reaction video, and she looked up whether Plummer did his own singing. 🙂
@@NavvyMom Sean Connery was actually a pretty good singer. Here's a link to a youtube video where he sings in the movie Darby O'Gill and the Little People: ruclips.net/video/eTwmjOySDjA/видео.htmlsi=PqCITgCLg7wXEBW2 And he was an incredibly talented actor that I think could have made any of those roles I mentioned his own.
Rebecca Romijn, who played Mystique, said that it actually wasn't that much fun playing Mystique in this movie, because many of the cool things Mystique did were actually done by the actors playing the characters she was impersonating, not by her. Because of this, the director gave her one cool scene in the second movie that she could do on her own.
One of my favorite superhero movies! Hugh Jackman is perfect as Wolverine as he's been playing the character for 25 years in 9 movies and will be making his 10th appearance in DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE.
Toad in theory has some pretty cool powers, stick to walls, prehensile tongue, super jumping, projectile mucus spit. It’s like he was bitten by a radioactive toad.
I haven't seen any comments about the actor playing sabertooth. It is Tyler Mane, he played Micheal Myers in Rob Zombies Halloween and Halloween 2. Started as a wrestler and transitioned to acting
Some helpful tips from a guy whose been reading comics (especially X-Men) since the 80's: - Sabertooth is very similar to Wolverine. He has a fast healing power, incredibly strong, animalistic senses (smell, hearing, etc) and those fingernail claws are strong and sharp enough to cut through some metals. But he's psychotic. The actor that played him in this movie is actually a professional wrestler named Tyler Mane - Wolverine in the comics is actually very short. About 5ft. Hugh Jackman is about 6ft. But he did great with the part so comic fans have given him a pass. He loves his cigars. - Magneto and Xavier are Omega level mutants. Which means that they are among the most powerful mutants. Magneto can tap into the Earth's magnetic field and wreck destruction around the world if he really tries. - Jean Grey (Marvel Girl) has both the powers of Telekenisis (moving things with her mind) and telepathy (reading peoples minds and controlling them). Whereas Xavier just has telepathy. Jean is an Omega level mutant as well as you'll find out.
Oh, quick trivia fact: the actress that plays Rogue (who can take other mutant's powers) had already won an Academy Award by the time she was in X-Men for the movie "The Piano". And when she grew up, she played the main character Sookie in the series "True Blood".
What we all love about the X-Men is all the relationships we see grow and evolve Jean and Scott, Jean and Wolverine, Charles Xavier and Magneto etc. I enjoy Xavier and Magneto's the most because we all see how enemies can still be good friends at the same time Ideologies mix but the people who mix them up still have huge respect for each other The comics and cartoon from the 90s show this to great effect You should rewatch it again Jay
20:40 Far right with glasses is The 1st of many Stan Lee cameos in Marvel movies. He along with Kirby/Ditko are the creators of many of the characters these films are based off. Look out for him 😊
I was an eighties teen when the X-men were one of the leading comics in the Marvel universe with the writing of Chris Claremont. It is always interesting to me whenever these characters are brought to live action films.
They were pretty edgy for that time. I remember so many of the X-Men storylines being concluded by them being willing to be far more ruthless than the bad guys. All of the other superhero teams were like Boy Scouts in comparison
@18:20 .... I dont wanna Pew Pew! out of my eyes..... Funniest comment ever!!!!! And you didn't even see what Cyclops could do yet, lol. When this was happening and they said this 6'3" Aussie was being Wolverine, I was like, first off Wolverine is my fave X-men character and he's like 5'8". This dude had better be good and had better not screw this up. Hugh Jackman is BEYOND. This was an EXCELLENT start. Some lines were gold. Storm's line to Toad was...WTF but, you will LOVE this series. I will say this, rewatch the last part, as the ray was scattering pay attention to Jean Grey and you'll see a hint about where the next movies are headed. There are so many BTS factoids about thus movie, like Hugh Jackman getting his "junk" twisted in the stunt ropes. 😂😂
Okay, since you're entering into superhero territory, might I suggest knocking out these movies franchises: X-Men, of course. Tobey Macguire (Spiderman films) Andrew Garfield (Spiderman films) The Venom films. Then, most importantly, watch The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) IN RELEASE ORDER! Trust me, you won't be disappointed. P.S. don't forget The Deadpool films! 🙃
Just the 1st 3 X-Men and 1st Spider-Man trilogy would be nice with the Blade trilogy thrown in because, honestly, without those franchises being profitable, we wouldn't have gotten the MCU.
After you finish with the X-Men, we ALL would love to see your reactions from the 2000s Spider-Man movies! The 2000s Marvel movie era was such good entertainment!
I wouldn't say they have the same healing abilities. Sabretooth does have some healing abilities, but they're *NOTHING* compared to the healing abilities of Wolverine
They never established that in the movie. And in the first Wolverine movie they basically said he couldn’t survive the procedure because he couldn’t heal like Logan does
Storm is one of the most powerful mutants in the Marvel universe! It's not just about striking people with lighting, she has precise control over every aspect of the weather, across tiny spaces or vast distances. The other movies show more of what she's capable of, as does the new cartoon (X-Men 97).
If you haven’t already realised, this movie was directed by Bryan Singer, one of his first successful superhero movies … he’s also the director for “The Usual Suspects”.
Finish 2 Rocky’s, 3 Creeds, Vision Quest (you’ve done a few songs from it and it’s an 80’s iconic film), 5 Rambos. Finish rabbit holes before opening new ones.
I watched most of the X-Men movies with my 13-year-old niece this weekend. She is HOOKED. It was so great to open up RUclips this morning and see that you two had uploaded an X-Men reaction just a couple days ago! Really enjoyed this one. :) I saw these as they were released. They were such a huge deal, and it's nice to see the next generations enjoying them too. Looking forward to seeing more from you two!
You're not getting that for years... if they do get it on here They may just watch it in private because there are so many mcu things to watch and they still have a family to raise and other things to watch/do
Just to give context to Wolverines healing ability, in the comic books he once regenerate from a single drop of blood. Y'all also need to start on the MCU (Starting with Iron Man and watch them in release order)
I am an OLD comic book nerd. I was reading X-MEN in the 70's and 80's. So asking ME what power(s) I would like is a little daunting of a question. There are SOOOOOOOOO many. This movie hasn't even TICKLED the surface, much less scratched it. No, Cyclops cannot actually control his power. In the comic book it explains he and his younger brother barely survived a plane crash. His mother strapped the only parachute onto the boys and tossed them from the plane to save their lives. The landing caused a slight amount of brain damage to Scott, permanently impairing his control. The visor (and his glasses) are made from "ruby quartz", the only substance Professor X could find that could actually absorb (and, thereby, control) Cyclop's optic blasts.
According to Rebecca Romijn: It was a nine-hour makeup process for Mystique. We did, over the course of three movies, manage to get it down to seven hours, but that was still ... It was a big deal.
9 hrs in the make-up chair ??? So she problably had to come to set in the wee hrs of the morning. When I was in the army stationed in Korea had to be at work at 3:30 am and work non-stop till after the lunch rush ( then had a 30 minute break )then work non-stop till 8: 00 pm.Kept this schedule because we didn't have enough personnel to run 2 shifts like back in the states.Being so busy made the time go by so-FAST-tho.
@@kerry-j4m First off thank you for your service. Truly appreciated. By the time Jennifer Lawrence took on the role of Mystique she had to wait for a whole eight hours while blue paint was applied to every single part of her body. Not only that, but it took six make-up artists to apply it. And calling it a makeup chair is putting it nicely, as a period of the application required Lawrence to sit on a bicycle so the makeup artists could get to the harder parts of her body.

Xmen are marvel movies License to Fox, Spider-man is licensed to Sony. And take place in different universes. Marvel studios have their own movies and these are known as the MCU. You should look up the order to watch them in as these movies are all connected. For the MCU start with iron man
Professor X and Magneto were once close friends. Magneto knew how to sabotage Cerebro, the machine Xavier uses to amplify his powers because he helped build it. I’d be thrilled to have several of the mutants’ powers: Magneto, Storm, Mystique, Wolverine, Jean Gray (she didn’t show off much in this movie), even the girl who ran thru the door.
8:42, fun fact about Wolverine. He initially comes off grumpy and mean but to the his friends he can be a teddy bear. In the comics he would often be paired up with younger mutants (usually female) in a big brother mentor role. Rogue, Kitty Pryde( the young girl who walks through walls) and Jubilee (a young Asian girl who shoots fireworks) have all been his protege/sidekick
I hear you about your daughter 's hair starting to resemble Storm's. In my mid thirties, mine started to look like Rouge's. My Dad's sister developed a grey streak in the middle of her dark hair when she was about that age. My hair started out a strawberry, honey blonde colour. It kept changing until my late teens into a chestnut colour. Which looked brown in the shade and firery red in the sun. Then, as mentioned, I developed a grey streak around my temples. It's about a decade on, and it's starting to work its way back a little. My fashion forward, Aunty loved her grey streak. I always did like streaks, etc. I never felt the need to dye my hair when it was changing by itself. But these days, I get it dyed chestnut with coppery red highlights. I'm an Aussie of European and Asian decent.

He also can’t turn off the blasts. He must always wear ruby-quartz lenses to screen the force.
X2 and X-Men First class are the best movies in the series, in my opinion. This first one is really good and sets the tone nicely.
Days of future past and Logan?
Can’t wait for them to find Antman. That one is a hoot.
Loagan is the best one EVER.
X2, DOFP & Logan for me.

Ian mckellen was just finished filming this movie
when he was contacted by Peter Jackson and his producers and asked him to be Gandalf

Fun fact in the comics Storm marries Black Panther. Making her Queen of Wakanda!
And that was a demotion, since when she was a teenager she was worshipped as a goddess.
So Thundercats...
I always like to make Fun Facts. One thing I hate is when someone gets mad at you for making a fun fact. Someone got mad at me just for saying Magneto son is Quicksilver and his daughter is Scarlet Witch. I said its not spoiling the story lol
Not in this day a day and age. 😢

Jay looking like a kid on Saturday morning watching cartoons 😂
The opening of this film really gives it gravitas. You've got to watch 'Blade'. That's the real if unofficial start of the Marvel superhero films, not to mention an influence on 'The Matrix'. And it's a really good film.
Exactly, without Blade being a modest success and stemming 2 sequels, if it hadn't been a hit,X-Men and Spider-Man wouldn't have been made.
The actress that played Mystique in this movie was married to "Uncle Jesse" John Stamos in real life.
Rebecca Romijn!!! Grrrr baby, very grrrr!
Now she's married to Jerry O'Connell.
@@jabronijoeoutdoors
He's Vern, the little fat friend from the movie Stand By Me.
Jerry O'Connell also played a superhero (of sorts) in the TV series "My Secret Identity" (1988-91).
she also plays #1 in star trek strange new worlds.
The problem isn't that the mutants are mutants, it's that they're also human.
36:08 Rob & Amber's reaction when Toad hocked a loogie on Jean's face was the BEST moment of this video!! 🤣🤣🤣
X Men and x2 are really good comic book movies. They develop character and come across smarter than most.
If nobody has mentioned it yet, the guy playing Toad is the same person that played Darth Maul in Star Wars .

Poor Jean-Luc a victim of his own savoir fairs, she didn’t stand a chance
Funnily enough, in the comics Prof. X has an unrequited love for Jean mentioned once in the 60's, but not again until the 1996 Onslaught storyline.
You both are in for a treat with this movie. Mystique is one of the best villains. Her fighting is more beautiful than hurtful. In my opinion

Wolverine is not like a wolf...he's like a wolverine, which is smaller and more similar to a badger than a wolf, but one of the most fearsome creatures in nature, with long claws. They mainly exist now in Alaska and Canada.
A bit of interesting trivia for you: Here are some of the iconic roles which were first offered to Sean Connery, but he turned them down:
1) Magneto in these movies
2) Gandolf in Lord of the Rings
3) Morpheus in the Matrix
4) Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter
5) John Hammond in Jurassic Park
6) The male lead in Alfred Hitchcocks The Birds
7) He was considered for the role of Deckard in Blade Runner, but Harrison Ford got the part
8) Simon Gruber, the bad guy from Die Hard
9) Frank Horrigan from In the Line of Fire, the role played by Clint Eastwood
10) The lead role in Instinct, that was played by Anthony Hopkins
11) The terrorist in The Jackal, that was played by Bruce Willis
12) Ed Lewis from Pretty Woman, that was played by Richard Gere
13) King Richard in drag, from Robinhood: Men in Tights
14) The lead role in the classic movie Shogun
15) He was considered for the role of Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music
16) Live and Let Die, a James Bond movie he turned down
17) On Her Majesty's Secret Service, another James Bond movie

Damn you guys are gonna love "Ironman"! I'm so shocked that you haven't seen that yet but excited to go on this journey with you.
Some helpful tips from a guy whose been reading comics (especially X-Men) since the 80's:
- Sabertooth is very similar to Wolverine. He has a fast healing power, incredibly strong, animalistic senses (smell, hearing, etc) and those fingernail claws are strong and sharp enough to cut through some metals. But he's psychotic. The actor that played him in this movie is actually a professional wrestler named Tyler Mane
- Wolverine in the comics is actually very short.
I'm glad you recognized Sir Ian, but sad you didn't recognize Sir Patrick.
What we all love about the X-Men is all the relationships we see grow and evolve
Jean and Scott, Jean and Wolverine, Charles Xavier and Magneto etc.
I enjoy Xavier and Magneto's the most because we all see how enemies can still be good friends at the same time
Ideologies mix but the people who mix them up still have huge respect for each other
The comics and cartoon from the 90s show this to great effect

I was an eighties teen when the X-men were one of the leading comics in the Marvel universe with the writing of Chris Claremont. It is always interesting to me whenever these characters are brought to live action films.
They were pretty edgy for that time. I remember so many of the X-Men storylines being concluded by them being willing to be far more ruthless than the bad guys.

@@kerry-j4m First off thank you for your service. Truly appreciated.
By the time Jennifer Lawrence took on the role of Mystique she had to wait for a whole eight hours while blue paint was applied to every single part of her body. Not only that, but it took six make-up artists to apply it.
And calling it a makeup chair is putting it nicely, as a period of the application required Lawrence to sit on a bicycle so the makeup artists could get to the harder parts of her body.

Professor X and Magneto were once close friends. Magneto knew how to sabotage Cerebro, the machine Xavier uses to amplify his powers because he helped build it. 8:42, fun fact about Wolverine. He initially comes off grumpy and mean but to the his friends he can be a teddy bear.
In the comics he would often be paired up with younger mutants (usually female) in a big brother mentor role.

Toad is played by ray parks who played Darth maul in star wars the phantom menace
