That's a very interesting migration video. I'm from Berlin in Germany. I grew up at the coast near Hamburg in the 70s and 80s. we had many more cold winters, not like you in Canada, but a winter with weeks of minus 20 Celsius were nothing special. The summers were often very wet. One summer nice, one or two cool and wet was the rule. The last really cold winter we had in 1995. After 2010 it was only warm winters and hot, dry summers. In winters there was almost no snow, and if, it melted away almost immediately. In the last 15 years ice skating on lakes was only possible 3 times or only twice in Berlin, and only for a week max. Before 2010 the lakes often were frozen for many weeks, even months. The last time coast parts of the Baltic sea were frozen, so that cars and trucks could drive to the islands was in 1995/96, doesn't happen anymore. That goes especially for Berlin, which used to have a far more continental climate than the coast area. In the more mountainous areas, In the south and south east , there's still cold winters with snow and ice. I don't mind warm winters and hot summers (except for the lack of ice skating) But this quick change over a lifetime is significant. More and more birds don't bother to migrate anymore ( though 99% of the migratory birds still do, it's their instinct or about the feeding supply as you mentioned.) All the best to you, Dennis and Kulika and the Crows and Magpies, and your German Shepard of course. Mart
Enjoyed your comment very much. I have heard that other places in Europe are like where you are. Snow does not stay long. Here it is still very cold in the winter but some are better than others.
@@chv72 Even in most parts of Germany isn't enough water for people and industries anymore. Wonder what countries like Spain and Italy, California or Texas will do, where it was always dry. Water shouldn't be a big problem in the Great Canada with relatively not so many people living there(?)

You guys take such great care and love for these birds. I'm in the US (Portland, OR) I feed the crows near my home and provide clean water. They have become so familiar with me they allow me to be 3ft away while I do yard work. They also show up and caw when they want a bit of food. The elder crows have taught the yearlings that I can be trusted and will feed them. The crows also forage in my yard for bugs, as I do not feed them daily. We have a non toxic/poison yard and the crows do help with controlling the bug population.
Hi everyone, I've been a faithful follower since the early days when Peach (the first baby crow) was rescued. Watching the bird family slowly enlarge has been such a delight.I live in Hollywood, California.

Hi Kulike and Dennis. Mississauga, (GTA) Greater Toronto Area, Ontario. Summers at house in Northern Ontario, Kirkland Lake area. Hoards of grackles the past couple of weeks and so noisy. They try to get ar the bird feeders meant for smaller birds. Plus 3-5 BlueJays have been hanging around all summer. Soon as I open the drapes in the morning, there they are. And they stay till after 7 p.m. when it starts to get dark out. I never got any Blue Jays last summer. I leave peanuts in the shell for them. I have a feeling the winter is going to be a long one. I try to go by the behavior or the birds and animals. Weather looks awesome there at the moment. Hope we get a nice Indian Sunmer.
Hello Kristina. So nice to hear from you and where you are from. I knew it was northern Ontario but did not Know if you were near Toronto also. I really do enjoy your stories about your area and the animals you see. Is the northern house a cabin or a house? When you talk about the fireplace, I get cozy thinking about how comfy our wood stove is in winter. It probably will be cold but will be lazy by the fire.
We love your channel and all you do for these magnificent birds!! big hugs to Kassie and little Sunny too! Actually, big Sunny now!! he's grown so much!! have a great day!!!🥰❤❤❤love from BC west coast :)
In the PNW (WA State) we have different kinds of Hummers in the summer. The only Hummingbird that stays is Anna’s Hummingbird. I supply the sugar water for them especially in the fall/winter months. Many times I have to bring in the feeder overnight because it will freeze , and take it out in the morning. Soon, we will be hearing Cackling Geese flying south in sometimes the hundreds. I have heard them flying in the middle of the night also. They go where the waters aren’t freezing for food. 🪿
Cage is comfortable for the captivity and abandoned by family crow due of massacre and gun fire by the heartless human. In the big cage crow are safe and feed properly. Some people critics that they are not safe but bird crows are comfortable I'm from Croatia Reynante Escalona
Crows and Magpies are so incredibly intelligent birds! I’m glad you make their aviary so interesting with the long sticks, the water bucket. Do the birds prefer if you keep the sticks in the same spot for a while, or do they like having the sticks moved around frequently? *from South Western Ontario.
This talk about migration reminds me of an episode of Heckle & Jeckle "Flying South". "I'm through migrating!" "Every Summer it's fly North, Every Winter it's fly South, I'm staying right here!" 😊
Looks like beautiful early autumn weather there! Still smoky here in Oregon, looking forward to that clearing out and so I can visit the orchards for apples, pears, and cider. Indoor and outdoor birds here are just about done with their molts. Lovely to see your birds all glossy and happy! ❤
Hi. I'm living in Puget Sound area of Washington state. I've begun giving crows across the street in the Town Center unshelled peanuts when I'm able to get out. Those peanuts are REALLY popular. The other day I had a couple pounds with me and must have had over 100 crows waiting to grab some peanuts.
Are people still working on why your birds are still in a cage, how many times should you Dennis, have to tell them why they are. Go back and watch videos about why they are with you and why you can´t release birds that are printed on humans. So you understand why. Luckily there are people like you and Kullike. Hugs from us. I look forward to my Canadian bird friends coming for the winter. I love the juncos!

Do corvids migrate?
Most do but depends where they are. In some places in Canada, some stay year round but here in Saskatchewan, they migrate except magpies.
