That is a brilliant scene. Amazing acting again by Christopher Reeve. They should have kept it in would have elevated the movie.

This scene really should have been kept in the final cut of the movie. Haters always say Superman never struggles against opponents. This scene clearly shows that Superman struggled and could have died from radiation sickness. In future Superman movies they need scenes like this.
Disagree. It's fine to see Superman vulnerable or weak, but the hair and makeup in this scene totally undermines the character and makes him look pathetic, not like a hero at all.
@@Scripture-Man Wrong, Lee. Heroes are allowed to have vulnerabilities. If the villain never puts the hero on the brink of death, then you never get to enjoy their heroic comeback. How did Luke Skywalker look after the fight with Vader with his hand cut off?
Great scene and further proof that Superman 4 suffered from poor editting and major budget cuts. Even still it wasn't all that bad.
We can all thank a lousy test screening with a borderline retarded audience for why this film was cut to pieces. Whole sections were cut out and then when the film was re-edited it made it very incoherent in parts due to deleted footage that helped later scenes make sense.
I agree that it wasn't bad at all, and most of these deleted scenes would be cool to see back in the film, along with some tidied up FX. The Nuclear man 1 scene can stay out though. It was truly awful.

Superman looked like he was in the middle to late stages of chemotherapy. Thinning hair, grey skinned, weakened stature. Superman was suffering from severe radiation poisoning because of Nuclear Man. They should have kept this scene in. Gives more to the story and shows that even Superman can be vulnerable.
I cant believe how many good scenes like this were deleted...
They ruin our movies just to make money out of us.

I think they should release an extended cut of the film with all the cut scenes cleaned up and added. What have they got to lose.
I agree. All that's missing now is the footage of Clark and Lacy in the Metro Club which is the only footage that hasn't seen the light of day yet. Originally it was because of music rights issues but the guy who composed the music for those scenes released his stuff on the Superman IV soundtrack a few years back so clearance isn't an issue anymore on that. WB just doesn't want to release it unless some money can be made. The positive reaction to the release of the 3 hours extended cut of the first film should be an indicator that fans want a complete cut of Superman IV finally.

Half of the originally intended budget was spent on all the movie, including this scene. What we got was worth about a quarter of the budget.

This adds more depth to the sickness and recovery of superman. It's so frustrating knowing all these scenes are out there plus many scenes we will sadly never see. This really could have been a great film if the it was handled by the right people. Sadly Christopher's vision of superman 4 never got out to the public. Instead we got half a film on a very restricted budget less than some commercials at that time.

Cool scene but the movie doesn't explain how he got his powers back. He had the green crystal with him, but in order to use it doesn't he have to go to his fortress of solitude for that to happen. With how weak he was , no way in hell could he fly there, he could barely walk at all . 😂
I think its odd that Clark Kent lives in a dingy apartment while Lois lives in a beautiful luxury apartment. (Seen in the first movie)They both have terraces but Clark has to live next to a bar for crying out loud. He has to listen to loud music and hear drunks fighting in the street all the time. Apparently Lois makes more money. Either that or there's a backstory we're not privy to. Maybe Lois won the lottery. That would make some sense. Was it the budget for this movie? They gave Lacy a deluxe apartment in the sky. Clark can crush coal into diamonds. He should be living way better than was portrayed in this film.

That's the problem with that movies: they look like they where made for children.
I disagree. I watched Robocop when I was 9 and I loved it. This is nothing that would scar a child, and it'd be important to see that everyone has weaknesses.
In Superman III, he wonders what he can do alone with Lana Lang, lusts and fools around with Lorelei, and gets drunk in a bar; definitely not family friendly

I don't know if the ability to tell the full tale as intended with the cut plot elements and stuff would have resulted in a good movie in its own right, but it certainly would have made it reasonably better.
I notice Superman is turning old of his weakness from nuclear man.
When I first saw this scene, it used to scare me because of the scratch marks on his neck and the piece of music that was played during that part. It doesn't scare me anymore, though.

Deus ex machina. One of many shortcuts the producers used to make this movie. Did the producers even see the first two movies? Superman had one green crystal. He used it to restore his powers in both versions of Superman II that exist now.

The director should have added this bit in, that's definitely a rap! Although second thoughts mind you some folks might be wondering..why the hell is Clark not phoning 911 and asking for medical assistance?? then a guess he would he would have to explain why there's flamin bloody great big scratch marks on the back of his neck...right enough a suppose he could always blame it on his neighbours cat..although Clark wouldn't forgive himself if his neighbour's cat got put down by the authorities for doing absolutely fck all...then Clark really would feel like shit! And ofcourse he can't exactly blame Louis Lane either because their friendship would be fcked! As for blaming the neighbours cat..nah that's a bad idea they might get a geiger counter out anyway and discover that there's a highly radioactively charged cat jumping about Metropolis! Yes, Nuclear Man scratched him at the neck, poisoned him with the nuke power of his finger nails. Supes felt immediately weakened and was defeated by a devasting kick sending him flying into sickness 😢

No, thank God. He died of cardiac arrest after he had a bad reaction to an antibiotic he'd been given to treat a pressure ulcer that had become infected, according to what I read on Wikipedia.
They need to restore all scenes so that the story makes sense. Redo the effects and fix the bad soundtrack in parts for the scenes that were dropped. Apriceproductions tried but WB didn't want to know!

Not even close, from what I saw in a video of his last public appearance before his death. Other than being totally bald due to alopecia areata, he looked quite well and seemed to be in good spirits.
