    Thanks for posting this very good & easily understood repair video. I'm 63, so I'm sending this to my 27 y.o son for his help. I'm certain I would have some parts left over :-)

    +Larry daniel. You install the new screen in the reverse order. Only deviation you have is the installation of the 2 sided adhesive. Which bonds the perimeter of the glass screen to the plastic frame. Once you have done this then everything else is installed in the reverse order. Good Luck

    Not sure why the screen would go black if you were removing shards from the touch screen. Perhaps a connection to the LCD screen (inner display) became loose?

    I have literally pulled my entire phone apart while watching this video, thinking this was how to replace a cracked screen. It's now in about 30 pieces, and I've gotten to the end of the video and realised I didn't need to disassemble the entire thing to fix the friggin' screen. Obviously this is my fault for not watching the entire video before beginning, but now I'm completely lost. It also doesn't look the same as your end product - the silvery grey screen that sits under the glass is shattered as well, which I probably broke as I was disassembling. I'm guessing this is a separate part altogether, but not sure what it's called?
    I also wonder if all the components that I've removed inside will go back in, given that I've ruined the sticky backing them (flex cable, antenna, etc).
    Any help would be appreciated, as my phone is not very old and I'd like to fix it. At this point, it looks like I'm going to have to throw it out. Thanks.

    Thank you for the video. Very well done. I'd never attempt to do this by myself, but it was helpful to see the intricate functions.
    My screen is totally black. I get the two grey icons at the bottom, sometimes. I've never dropped or wet the phone and I can still hear it working and receive calls, when I swipe the answer motion blindly.
    My cell phone company wants to replace it, but can't transfer my data blindly. Can you suggest a way they might be able to save my data.
    Your response is appreciated and date sensitive...a quick answer would be nice.

    An easy way to deal with that is to place tape on the damaged part of the screen. The tape will hold the shards together when you peel of tape. You may want to use masking tape or something strong.

    I know a lot of people have asked but.... I dropped my phone, screen did not crack,screen flicked and then went black. I can still receive calls by swiping my screen. By your answers on previous comments it looks like its the LCD, can I purchase this alone OR do I have to purchase LCD + digitizer or housing,etc. Thank you so much 4 your help and great video

  • @Repairsuniverseusa
    @Repairsuniverseusa  11 лет назад

    Yes unfortunately this will require the Touch Screen Digitizer / LCD Screen to be replaced. The repair requires the device to be disassembled. However, with the above video guide you can successfully replace the part without damaging other internal components.

    I might have missed this, but how do you separate the LCD from the stylus flex? (The gray part on the back with the flex cable at the top.) I've only seen replacement LCD screens without this --- they only have the flex cable on the side. Thanks in advance!

    Hi mate , thanks for the clip. I know its the reverse order to put a new screen however my doubt is, do we need any kind of glue material to put the new screen in ?? Your reply is much appreciated or if you have a video for that will be double great : )

  • @Repairsuniverseusa
    @Repairsuniverseusa  10 лет назад

    melwyn d souza Are you referring to the cable that connects the LCD to the motherboard? Or the port on the motherboard that you connect the flex cable too? If your port on the motherboard is damaged then it might render it non-repairable. If the LCD cable itself is ripped then you will need to purchase another LCD.

    Thank you for this helpful video. As I was repairing my phone, I realized that 11 screws (the ones that you take out the first) are not the same size. In the video, you mentioned that all the 11 screws outside are the same size. However, 2 of my screws are different then the other 9 normal ones. one is longer and the other one is shorter. I've been having problems with my earphone jack not working well time to time. This is my first time opening this phone, but last year, I sent this phone to Samsung to get my screen repaired. Do you think maybe they misplaced some of my screws? What should I do? Thank you so much!

      Maybe but samsung would have put it together great.

    My screen shows spider web looking cracking after working out at the gym yesterday and now doesn't come on at all. The phone is on, I can use my galaxy gear for calls, texting etc but the screen itself won't come on. I plugged it up to tv via MHL cable to make sure of it. The screen shows and the buttons work, but absolutely nothing from the screen itself, no display output, no touch response either. Can this be fixed simply with a screen? Or will I likely have to buy the entire LCD/digitizer kit? (in which case I might as well proceed with my full upgrade, considering the price for that kit)

    Hi, I replaced the screen by scraping off front glass. Now I noticed there is a gold cable from mother board that was glued to top left front of glass. The cable was glued between the lcd and glass. Is that the screen sensor ? And should I glue it back on to new glass?
    The device is for a samsung note 2 model t889.

  • @TheYuplaBoum
    @TheYuplaBoum 10 лет назад

    Great guide, did it fairly well. However, after I replaced the new glass, it starts to bug whenever I use the screen more than 2mn (it basically acts as though I was touching the area in the middle of the screen), and I have to turn the screen on/off to bring it back to a normal use.
    What do you think is wrong? The quality of the glass or maybe the space between the LCD and the glass which could be cleaned more thoroughly ?

    • @Repairsuniverseusa
      @Repairsuniverseusa  10 лет назад

      The proper way to repair the screen is to fuse them together with LOCA. You can use 2 sided tape to place the screen but you will still have the same issues. You can send the phone to us and we can fuse the glass to the lcd for you its 60.00
      www.repairsuniverse.com/repair-service.html

    • @raid517
      @raid517 10 лет назад

      What is LOCA?

    • @Repairsuniverseusa
      @Repairsuniverseusa  10 лет назад

      liquid optically-clear adhesive (LOCA). This is a Clear liquid adhesive once used is cured with a UV lamp to fuse the LCD and Glass digitizer together. This gives a factory OE repair. When you just use 2 sided adhesive it leaves a void between the LCD and GLASS which can cause ghosting, unresponsiveness, and dirt in between the LCD and the Glass.

    Good day to you.
    I accidentally dropped my Galaxy Note II in a vertical state & the LCD screen display is sort of blurry.

    I had my screen replaced under warranty, but the returned phone now exhibits phantom presses on the capacitive menu button. They also upgraded my bootloader and I tripped the knox bit and cannot get it fixed under warranty any more. The phantom presses appear a couple of times during the day, and when they do, the phone is unusable due to the frequency of the presses. After some time (5-10 minutes), the presses disappear and the phone is perfectly usable again. Do you have any suggestion as to what might be the problem, and how to fix it?

    • @Repairsuniverseusa
      @Repairsuniverseusa  10 лет назад

      How was the repair done? Better yet who did the repair? Was it the carrier, or a repair shop? IF the repair was done with LOCA (clear acrylic sealer) then the digitizer may be defective. If the repair was completed with 2 sided adhesive the void between the Digitizer and LCD could be causing the ghosting. If all else fails and they don't want to fix the issue. You can send the unit into us for a tech to look at it, and fix the issue for you.

    WATCH that top upper left where the AMOLED digitizer ribbon cable lives. I don't see video authors warning users that this cable is VERY sensitive, and I tore it completely, using a guitar pick. I was careful but none of the videos I watched of this being done warned me how easy it is to kill my display just by prying on the TOP UPPER LEFT of the Note 2.
    $150 later using Ebay parts, all is well now. New digitizers are expensive and many people kill theirs just trying to replace the glass. I recommend NOT TO PRY on the top upper left of the Note 2. That ribbon is very exposed and the digitizer will no longer respond to touch of fingers. S-pen still works great, display still works great, very annoying!

      This would be a case of the home button flex being damaged from moving your touch screen + LCD .
      If you notice in the video you have to take your time when removing the kit as you could damage the flex cable.

    I don't know if you monitor comments but even if not perhaps someone can answer my question. My Note 2s LCD is cracked (the glass is okay). I have some passwords stored on it that I'd really like to access. Now, I have an S3 as well and was wondering if I could connect the S3's LCD to my Note 2's motherboard as I believe they use the same flex cable and same sized port. My concern with this is power draw and essentially how much power is pushed to the LCD itself. On one hand I wouldn't mind it not working, but on the other hand, I dislike the idea of possibly feeding the S3's screen too much power as a result of it being connected to a Note2's battery and motherboard as I assume more power is pushed to the Note 2's larger screen by default. That may not be at all how power works with these devices but I just don't want to end up with 2 bad LCDs. Do you think this is a viable solution or would the power from the note2 going to the s3's screen cause a problem? I hope that was clear. I'm just trying to piggyback my note2 onto an S3s screen without ruining the S3 itself. Thanks.

    • @Repairsuniverseusa
      @Repairsuniverseusa  10 лет назад +1

      Unfortunately we highly doubt this would work for you. I do apologize to break the news. Although the flex cables may look the same, the units are two different models and require the same exact flex cables to function. Your device should not get damaged if you attempt this but it's highly likely the outcome will not be what you are seeking. Hope this helps.

      Great thank you for the reply. • @Repairsuniverseusa

      Titus Gregory Is the of the screw stripped or does it just spin? If it just spins try sliding a flat head under it to create tension while you unscrew it. If the head is stripped out from using the wrong side screwdriver. You can try this. Take a little superglue and put it on the tip of the screwdriver and hold it to the head of the screw. This will allow you to remove it with no issues.
