In ‘97 Hope Floats was filmed in my little Texas town. The only actor I wanted to see in person-not Sandra Bullock, not Harry Connick, not Forrest Whitaker-but the one I’d watched on my black n white TV since I was a child in the 50s and enjoyed seeing on screen in independent film at UT in the late 60s and early 70s-the incomparable Gena Rowlands!
I watched A Woman Under the Influence way back in film school and Gena Rowlands was absolutely spellbinding. Such a wonderful talent. I definitely need to catch up on her other work.
I'm soo excited to see y'alls Dídi movie review! I saw it the other day and I thought it was really funny but then I also found myself crying towards the end. I hope you guys enjoy it!
I was lucky to see Gena Rowlands in person at an interview several years ago, wherein she was as warm, funny and down-to-earth as she was onscreen. Peter Marshall and Greg Kihn's "The Breakup Song" and "Jeopardy" were major pop culture touch points during my formative years. RIP to all of these great artists!
Some of what's being reported doesn't make complete rational sense. I could see it as Matthew wanting doses that aren't allowed so then using people who would be willing to prescribe it while filling out lower doses (and he'd pay silly money for that kind of thing). It makes little sense for them to purposefully lie to him and give him larger doses than he was asking for. Unless there's something else I'm missing from this story.
Aw, I missed the LIVE MOVIE NEWS 😞... Well, since the Paris Opening Ceremony raised the bar very high, I think the only way L.A. surpases it is if they bring Damien Chazelle and do the opening number of LA LA LAND (and I know that will ruin everyones lives in LA because of the traffic) 🤣🤣
Regards the Todd Haynes/Joaquin Phoenix controversy. Wouldn't it be great if every press junket made that the first question with little interest in Joker 2! 😂
I agree that the LA olympic games are not gonna be as good as the Paris ones. The Paris games were so amazing with all the events happening in iconic places mostly downtown and the atmosphere was great. Public transport in LA is absolutely horrible. I have no idea how all the tourists will get around. There are not enough Uber drivers to cater to everyone.
Regarding the clothes question. It depends on the context of the question. If it was asked in the manner of "you know how to wear clothes fab" and it's a domestic abuse story then, I can see why that could get a negative reaction. I'd hate for us to go back to the mindlessly superficial place where those questions get asked when a movie clearly isn't about that.

I have a few of Peter Marshall's vocal albums in the big band style, and they're quite good! Talented dude.

Love Gena R, rip. Woman Under the Influence is such a fierce movie
I saw Peter Marshall in the national tour of the original Broadway production of La Cage Aux Folles. He was great in it.
My first exposure to gena Rowlands was in.. Night on earth with wynona Ryder in the taxi cab.
I like when you 2 do movie news
Thanks so much for being here, we love doing it!
I wanna see Alex Winter and Keanu do _Waiting for Godot_ in character as Bill and Ted.
Is there going to be reviews for Jackpot and The Union?
Probably not at this point because we're trying to get other stuff done before Alonso leaves town for Venice. Have you seen them?
I saw Woman under the influence when it came out, shattering
Cannot believe she never got an Oscar
