Why we acting like 69$ ain’t a lot
cus we have been taught that the product of ours and others labour is worth less than 69$. If u paid 10 dollars for a pair of pants, many people have suffered and been tortured, just so you could have cool clothes for cheap
@@piculetpaul8758 the fucked up thing is that the 69 dollar Pants are probably manufactured under the same horrible circumstances like 10 Dollar pants. . Of course, you can get nice durable pants for 69 dollars, that were produced under fair conditions. But not from H&M and Zara...
@@LennartMeyerAcoustic That is definetely the biggest problem in fashion. When brands charge more for clothes but nothing of value is being paid for. That is why I despise zara and h&m

This man just explained how the American economy works without even knowing it.
he explained the theory of "Kulturindustrie" (or culture industry in english). I think everyone should read the article on wikipedia or watch a video about it. it's truly eye opening
Kingfull Well nobody needs to watch a video to understand the culture industrie. It is literally everyday right in front of our eyes, you need to be blind not to see the reason why capitalism is a failing economic system.
Everybody know that huge corporations exploit workers who don’t have access to strong unions or national laws that protects their rights, and use them to create really cheap products so they could be competitive in the market.
Then they use really cheap products to creat products that are really attractive, but doesn’t last a long time (H&M is the absolute example of this), so costumers will have to buy it frequently.
By doing so, those corps utilize poor workers and slave workers from poorer countries, and they threatens the ecology by producing a lot more material than what they should produce if they actually made long-lasting products. Plus, they hide all that process to the middle class, by showing a facade of them being careful to the workers or to the planet (H&M did a recycling program do they could be shown as progressive). And 99.9% of the time, those corporations don’t pay tax, resulting in an impoverishment of the poor and middle class (the money stays in the pocket of the richest, while there is no money for social structures).
Those are 4 immoral, ugly facts about how capitalism works in the era of globalization and neoliberalism. This is the main reason why the logic of capitalism is failing and this is why we have to find other alternatives to capitalism. All the great economists in the past predict the path that capitalism has taken (even Adam Smith)
@@MrGotickiller09 And what is your utopian alternative to capitalism (which managed to get us to the highest living standards in human history as well as longest living and hundreds of innovations that we all use) let me guess, socialism or communism lol. Tell me pls

For me it said, "Look at how much more financially responsible you are. These people spending 500$ on a single shirt, lmao, gtfo. These are the same people who will reach the ripe age of 50 and realize they didn't put nearly enough away (if any) for retirement."

My problem with fast fashion videos is that they solely focus on explaining and attacking the fast fashion retailers, yet they never provide fast fashion shoppers with alternatives, with stores they can turn to instead of fast fashion.
Asket
Did i miss the part where he explains how it’s dead ? 😶
Exactly lmao I don’t see the point of this video at all. I think he’s trying to say that fast fashion facilitates people to buy trendy clothes without having to pay 10 times the money (ok? But isn’t that the logical thing to do?) and that in turn causes people to jump from trend to trend and not wear anything more than a few times. The whole concept is such a reach. I don’t think there is anything wrong with dressing according to trends as long as you actually like the trend. I’m pretty sure people use clothes they buy more than a couple of times, we don’t actually run through trends so fast that the stuff you bought his year will be irrelevant by the next.
He thinks he's making a statement, and that he's very intelligent. But, no.
@@shubhamthakur4053 That's because this video is utter rubbish. It doesn't make any sense. So it's perfectly okay to buy a 700$ vest or whatever to be fashionable but if you do it for 69$ suddenly you're in the fast fashion territory and that's not okay. There's no logical conclusion. I think streetwear is the easy way to fashion anyway - you just put on some overpriced, oversized random clothing pieces with big brand names, copying Instagram "influencers" but we're the stupid clueless ones for shopping in H&M.
@@grubsztyl6746 yes you’re right on the money because your doing it to be trendy when instead those people who buy the 700$ vest are actually getting knowing they are going to wear they’re not doing it to copy something else and when you repeat this cycle of buying stuff you don’t actually like but is trendy your closet becomes incredibly boring and you have no style whatsoever

One thing is trends aren’t supposed to change as often as they do. Like even a half a decade ago trends usually only changed after a couple years. But due to the rise of fast fashion, they change every season. Almost every half a season. High end and sustainable brands usually only change trends either half a year or yearly.
F21 looks completely different every month I visit it
few seconds in and the video's production value is crazy
Creeping up on the 1 mill man! 👀👀🔥🔥👌🏻
i don’t think i like this anime arc and its progression. For Christian to be an Elitist after starting out by giving out frugal mens fashion alternatives/advicr with memes, this arc seem to heading into fashion shitpost and high fashion brand shoutouts; I hope next season will be better and be more “frugal aesthetic”
All fashion channels become this way eventually
It’s not elitist to say it’s wasteful to just buy a lot of cheap on trend clothing. From a style perspective, it just means you’ll never have a true sense of personal style. From an ethical perspective, cheaply made clothing inevitably cuts corners, and since the biggest cost in clothing manufacturing (if people are being paid well) is the wages of the people constructing it, that is most often what gets cut. From an environmental perspective, the fashion industry is very wasteful, not just in production but also at the consumer level when cheaply made clothes break down and end up in the trash. Additionally, being frugal just means being economical with money. You can be frugal with money and still want to get higher quality clothing and in the long run those pieces last longer than cheaply made things, so you don’t have to keep spending money on, say, a new pair of jeans, so you could save money by investing in better pieces. Christian has always said, like he mentioned in this video, good value essentials are a good investment and don’t have to be the $770 type stuff. He’s made multiple videos about getting essentials and styling them and it’s pretty clear that caring about your clothes, their quality, and having a personal sense of style instead of just following trends isn’t elitist.
Rebecca Free thanks for this chapter summary. Kidding aside, You bought really valid points which Christian kinda skimmed over since i think he’s dead set on the fast fashion = bad, high fashion = good narrative. It’s been most of his upload lately. But hey, aren’t we all here for the memes?
"High Fashion" life cycle is even shorter and more based on trend with every new season. Like Supreme used to be the hot shit, now it is off-white,... the cycle goes on with the mediocre designs. The quality is the same as fast fashion anyway, just with a triple price tag, therefore equal "good". Dress what you like no matter the brand, just don't follow hype, simply as that
You can be frugal without contributing to fast fashion.
But what if I buy clothes from these stores but keep using them in the long run? Is it still fast fashion?
Yes. The intention on ur part is a good effort but the store itself still changes the trends so fast that the cycle of fast fashion still happens.
@@courtneymcgee8579 nah bro. He developed his own style and he is using his clothes how he wants to. I do the same tbh. I buy clothes here and there and I'm dressing like my own style. I think "fast fashion" goes for the fake hype beasts that wants to be in the trend and they haven't developed their own style.
Trouzz the term fast fashion. Refers to the clothing itself. Not just the style. Buying from the store regardless of ur intention still contributes to fast fashion. The process to make these items are not only inhumane but very bad for the planet.
If you buy plain white tee or sweatshirt from hm its not fast fashion
You're paying the store directly so you're contributing to their profits which will encourage and support them to make more so yes.

i was just feeling weird about how most of my clothes are 2 - 5+ years old but christian just confirmed i am actually above all and doing the right thing. thank u
It's funny that people give "I'm broke" as a reason to why they shop fast fashion, when it's way more cost efficient to put money into higher quality, initially more expensive pieces that you can wear forever (long as they're of quality) instead of constantly throwing money at h&m/forever21 every time there's a new trend or the sweatshop tee you bought loses it's shine. Those throw aways add up like no other, and you would of been better off investing in quality in the first place, building a wardrobe slowly and carefully. It's like slowly saving up to buy a house you can own forever vs renting your entire life and endlessly throwing your money away to some landlord who doesn't care about you

This was a fantastic video. Keep up the good work.
this is actually such a great and understandable video about a really big problem which is fast fashion and consumerism, if you see clothing as the product of someone’s time/work and/or exploitation you begin to value the clothes you have more. Basically shop for new products less often and buy second-hand or repurpose clothing and NEVER trash it 🖤🖤 it’ll save you money and makes your style more unique and one-of-a-kind PERYAT

I feel like there are so many other (better) critiques of fast fashion, such as sustainability and moral/ethical reasons. I don't think talking about trends in fast fashion is the best side to argue from because the can be said about trends from regular brands; 2016 Gucci has cringy trends no one wears anymore either. I think it could be said it's lest relevant with fashion brands because people will always think Gucci is fashionable or in style, but trends definitely exist within these larger brands

Not necessarily. I’m a goth and cyberpunk. I utilize fast fashion and add things to them because I don’t always have the time to make everything from scratch.
