Cheers mate! Appreciate it! Running Sniper Ballistic matte black wheels - they’re not bad eh! Quite like them as they aren’t overly flash or anything, suit it well
It's one of my favourite - not toooo tricky, but enough to keep it interesting - and yeah, some amazing views! The soft sand does catch a lot of people out there
Awesome mate. Lived in wgtn all my life. Also learnt to 4wd here in a jimny. Never got bogged but always pulled other people out. Running the new hilux now. You might see me around white with silver canopy, afn front bar. Love your vids
It's an awesome place to learn eh - so many different terrains to drive on. It's amazing some of the people you see stuck out there eh, not sure how they manage it - sort of. Oh ncie! Will have to keep an eye out for you when I'm around there 👍
@@jimmybilly007 council do it so walkers can have a single day where there are no vehicles / if they need to do maintenance they have a day they know vehs won't be on the tracks
It’s been a while since I last saw it - but it was pretty rough then. Clearance and lack of wheel travel would possibly hold you back. Its really hard to capture the angles on camera
Do you recon the factory bash plates are sufficient for these kind of four wheeling driving? I am hesitant to upgrade because i dont want to add more weight to the vehicle.
Depends how often you’re in situations like this - I smashed mine a bit, they’re still fine, though not as straight as they once were. I’ve got some new ones to go on - prefer to have the protector over saving the weight personally. I didn’t think I needed them - but added a heavy duty set to my old Hilux and was amazed how bashed up they got
amazing video! always just drove to devils gate but never futher but want to do it now seeing how awesome it is. Would a suzuki grand vitara 2011 with AT/s make it over devils gate or would the clearance be an issue?
Cheers Shaun! It gets way better after the gate eh! Honestly not sure - the best way would be to get a spotter and go and give it a shot, taking it slowly. My mate had a stock 2001 Vitara that made it over no issues
Hey just wondering I recently purchased a 2019 fortuner because I've watched your videos and decided to get one lol but I have ATs tyres on mine at the moment would it make it over devils gate? I'm new to 4wd
Heya - nice! Congrats on the purchase. Low tyre pressures, low speed and the right line make it easy. Went over today for the first time since I filmed this video - low 1st and rear diff lock on, was nice and easy. Always good to have a spotter the first time though
In all honestly, I've never had a locker till I got this 4WD. And even then, I hardly use it. From talking to people though, most seem to recommend a rear first - was my plan with my old Hilux before I decided to sell it
Just a quick two questions, does the Fortuner have A sunroof? And does it have automatic windows? Because my dad is getting it in this June, so I just wanna know like extra stuff about it. Amazing vids though! Keep it up 👍
Hey mate - no sunroof on the Fortuner, at least in New Zealand. All four windows are automatic which is nice. That’s exciting though - not too long to go!
Uh good question - if you use the Metlink journey planner - www.metlink.org.nz/journey-options - and set your destination to 176 Owhiro Bay Parade, Ōwhiro Bay it'll hopefully give you some options
@@OverlandNZTV just went there on saturday. Walking back and forth around 10km base on gmaps. But its worth it. Maybe this is once in a life time see the seals. Thx for answer
Mate! You do an amazing job with the cinematography and editing for a one man gang! Chur to you 👏
Haha - cheers man! It's a lot of work solo - but I love this stuff, so fully worth it!
Finally a GREAT channel for Fortuner fans. Top job mate. What wheels are you running on your Tuna, they look awesome!

Cheers mate! It's epic out there - never tire of the cruise around the coast
That was fun!! Nice view!
Seki bro… went and explored red rocks today… only knew about the track because of your video👌💯💪🏼
being there is everything. Awesome.
Very cool video! This is probably my favourite trail on the North Island 💪🏾🏁🏆
My new Fortuner 2022 arrives on Monday or Tuesday, I can't tell you how excited I am. Great channel!!
6 weeks still for me, been 6 months
Cheers mate! Oh I can imagine - not long to wait now! Pickup day is always super fun!
Getting there 🎉
Just went out here today, was mean! such a good drive.
Awesome trail, great car and superbly captured. Looking forward for more!

Cheers Hamish! Was super stoked with how it went - few things to sort, but good first run
Dope cinematography bro 👌
Cheers man!
Awesome vid mate love that spot trucks looking good bro!
Cheers mate! Pretty pleased with how it's coming along!
Great video mate. Looks like a good track. Some good obstacles but not too many and some excellent scenery. 👌

It is a good track, really handy for an after work trip during the summer. Good to see some really considerate driving from @OverlandNZ too :-)

Cheers mate! Awesome bit of coastline eh
Thanks for the awesome vid. Do you know if you could stay overnight there?
You can just don't stay Saturday nights, as they close the gates on Sunday
@@wyllim1 why is the gate closed on a Sunday?

@@wyllim1 makes sense. Cheers.
As Wyllim has said, should be all good. Probably just worth heading a reasonable way around and not camping near the carpark
Awesome video, do u think awd get through devil gate with normal tyres? 😅
Cheers! Ground clearance is what you need more than anything - it’s hard to capture how steep it is in a video
great vid mate keep it up
Cheers mate!
One day I'll get down from north of the Bombay's and do around the south coast of Wellington. It looks awesome
It's well worth the trip! Changes every time you head out there too - always good fun!
ya rekon a 4x4 petrol 2012 Rav4 would make it over the gate? if it had offroad wheels? i think it should, the main issue might be clearance...
It’s been a while since I last saw it - but it was pretty rough then. Clearance and lack of wheel travel would possibly hold you back. Its really hard to capture the angles on camera

Thanks for the video! Is it 2.8 diesel?
Glad you enjoyed it! Sure is - it’s the uprated 150kw/500nm motor, goes pretty well
Should I get Rear lockers or front lockers first?

Do people live in those buildings on the beach?
I'm not sure - most of them are empty most of the time, but some do appear fairly well lived in
Is this whole track public access?
Sure is. Closed on Sunday’s - but public all the way to Cable Bay
How to get here from wellington center ?
Using public transportation
