You got it wrong when you said that horse's markings will sometimes disappear. That only happens with gray horses as they age. They are usually born dark, so their white markings, particularly blazes and stripes, will look as if they've changed, but it is only because the hair around them would have gradually turned to a lighter gray or white around the white markings that they were born with. This doesn't happen with any other color of horse.
@@suzanneyoung8011 I agree with you, but the channel owner is also obviously not an AI. The owner is Romanian, and they know that if they talk with an accent Americans will will b*tch about that. They wanted a correct translation to English, so they paid to have the computerized translation done, then they gave us the video for free. So we are actually very lucky to have this video for free. And it's quite possible that the owner does read the comments. They can't change the video, but in future they might take your comment into consideration when making videos, or choosing ones to post. So it's good that you spoke up! 😉 ✌🏼
@@cattymajivl am an American and I enjoy hearing accents from different countries. I'm trying to decide if this statement is prejudiced or simply an uninformed statement.I watch videos from all over the world some don't speak English at all. They have captions. I did think about that but your right. I've been around horse all my life and never heard the different terms on the face marking. I've heard bald face, blaze, stare and medicine hat and there was a leg marking that I never heard it called that.
I think you're wrong about what Roan color is. I think you said it was a sign of injury? I always thought it was just white hairs spread through the darker parts of a colored horse . The amount of weight increases as the horse ages so the dark parts become lighter.
Yes. You have it totally right. It's when white hairs are sprinkled or lightly flecked throughout a darkercoatcolor, which can be red, brown, or any other color. White, lighter, or darker hairs can grow on a scar, but that's a completely different thing. It's actually a really huge mistake. I very much appreciate this video on markings, because there are no others like it, but it would be so much better if they could repost it with the part about Roan coloring edited out, because that's so misleading! It could even lead to somebody calling a horse owner abusive when they are not! Roan coloring is genetic, and so is 100% natural.
At 12:20 they discuss the Roan coloring, and they have it totally wrong! It's not dark marks, it's white hairs flecked throughout a darker background color, which can be Bay (brown), Chestnut (red), or any other color. It generally covers a large area of the body, and it has NOTHING to do with injuries, as others have also said here. The rest of the video is basically correct, but that section on Roan coloring is outrageously wrong! Injuries that leave a scar on a horse can have lighter or white hair grow on them, and on a Roan colored horse an injury can be darker, without the white hairs that are present speckled in the surrounding area. That might be the start of where their thinking went wrong. The channel owner is Romanian, and they know that if they talk with an accent Americans will will b*tch about that. They wanted a correct translation to English, so they paid to have the computerized translation done, then they gave us the video for free. So we are actually very lucky to have this video for free, in spite of that one mistake. I've never seen another video that explains the names of the different markings, so in spite of the Roan errors, I'm glad to see this video. It would be a lot better though if they could repost it with the part about the Roan coloring edited out.
It's because the channel owner is Romanian, and they know that if they talk with a heavy accent Americans will will b*tch about that. They wanted a correct translation to English, so they paid to have the computerized translation. Then they gave you the video for free. But narcissistic Americans are never happy, even free stuff is never good enough. I would be too embarrassed to actually whine about it in public!

Plz do your homework before you talk about horses genetics! Roan is white hairs on another color. The fjord horses ALWAYS have dorsal stripe for example since it's ALWAYS found on horses that are dun in any color so the dorsal stripe is not just in a few breeds.
I really enjoyed this video. I learned so much... Thank you for sharing.❤❤❤❤
Appaloosa/palomino and haflinger have interesting markings

I agree with you----but what's the point of attempting to discuss anything with A.I.? You're writing a note to a computer.
@@stardust949 others who don't know much about horses may read it and learn something rather than believe a computerized video as factual.

I once saw a bald-face whose head looked EXACTLY like a horse skull! Would not be surprised if that turned out to be his name.
One channel has a horse named Skeletor! Ithink it's creepy, but she is a good horsewoman, so I just ignore the name and enjoy the videos.
That last one has Sesame Street Bert hair poof. 😊
How are you doing Debbie 😊
Couldn’t you get the flies off that first horse before filming?
Maybe they did and they just came back. Nitpicking isn't helpful.
watched. facts i never knew. 150,000 breathtaking MUSTANGS on the loose!
Very wrong about the roans. It's genetic. There are homozygous roan stallions that will produce a roan offspring every time.
Exactly. The part about Roan coloring is entirely wrong!
