The Alienist is an upcoming American drama television series based on the novel of same name by Caleb Carr. The psychological thriller drama is set in 1896, when a series of gruesome murders of boy prostitutes has gripped the city. Newly appointed top cop Teddy Roosevelt calls upon Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, a criminal psychologist -- aka alienist -- and newspaper illustrator John Moore to conduct the investigation in secret. Joining them in the probe is Sara Howard, a headstrong secretary at Police Headquarters.

Daniel Bruh is so much like his character .... like he doesn't even need to act, its come so naturally
I watched because Daniel...and I loved everything 😍
Fantastic show with a high quality cast
Their disorders are those that can't be seen in dissections, but *can* be seen with advanced imaging techniques - disorders of wiring. The parts of the brain associated with empathy or the ability to put yourself in someone else's place are probably either inactive or cannot communicate with the parts of the brain associated with action, planning, behaviour etc. - 'executive function'.
This is all extremely complex and I am reducing it to basic terms. We have some ideas and methods now about how to induce empathy in people who have none involving precision brain stimulation and yes, even psychedelic drugs. Or both.
It's been 2 years but from your viewpoint, of the two, which theory would you say best fits John Beecham/Japhet Dury...Social control theory or Self-control theory?

This show is 9/10 . The only thing is the slow pace . But it cuz build character
come on we all know batman begins >the dark knight because the latter tilts too much on story vs character, i hope there's a good balance in this one, along with counterpart starting a good year of high quality tv
The boy brothel is the creepiest, most disgusting thing. It is a huge turn-off, but Daniel Brühl keeps me coming back for each new episode!

He's the only reason why I watch the show. He's a fantastic actor. He's great at accents, at making his character sympathetic, unlikable, vulnerable, etc.
What are you talking about ? i came for Luke and Dakota and ended up beeing kept up because of his character because frankly he is phenomenal !!
