About The Alienist:
The Alienist is an upcoming American drama television series based on the novel of same name by Caleb Carr. The psychological thriller drama is set in 1896, when a series of gruesome murders of boy prostitutes has gripped the city. Newly appointed top cop Teddy Roosevelt calls upon Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, a criminal psychologist -- aka alienist -- and newspaper illustrator John Moore to conduct the investigation in secret. Joining them in the probe is Sara Howard, a headstrong secretary at Police Headquarters.

I can't believe what happened to Mary, poor Kreisler...he's just starting to come around, being smitten and so in love. So heartbreaking! :(

I have some reservation about Mary. Given the jealousy she holds towards Mr Howard, and how violent she can be, it’s best for Dr. Kreisler to move on. Mary is a very dangerous lover. BTW Dr. Kreisler does meet someone who is intelligent, rational and independent.

​@@judywang8393 To be honest, I think that the other someone is a rather boring decision because is the woman version of him, they are way to similar, which makes this reaaaaaally preadictable and something that has already been done too much, while Mary was very different than him, and with her own traumas. Watching them develope a relationship and overcome their things together would have been way more interesting.
Also the chemistry, the shyness, the repress desire between Kreizler and Mary is unmatchable.

You've read the book, what happened to John's character?! He's always been put in danger I fear he will die like Mary. Really sad for Kreisler.

John will be fine. Same as Sara and the Isaacsons. But because of Dr. Kreizler grief over Mary's death, he choose to leave the investigation. (The teaser for the upcoming episode shows that there will be an absence of Dr. Kreizler's)
