    I just did the exact same thing with silicone spatula yesterday! Worked fantastic for cleaning out the corners of the tank

    As others have said, using a solvent like IPA or regular alcohol (ethanol) will make the FEP cloudy over time. Use water and microfibre cloth, and your will not need to change the FEP so often.

      My FEP became quite scratched by using the method in this video, so won't do the same mistake again. Seems like the paper tissues I used were as abrasive as normal paper towels.

    another great video Luis! Thanks! One thing...people should make sure they don't buy the tissues with Aloe Vera or other moisturizers in it for this :P

    Dawn, hot water, and a paper towel or clean room wipe. Use lens cleaner to clean up any residues on the fep.

    Nice simple solution!
    Question about fumes tho, I do my prints in the garage with the door open and the resin makes the entire area smell. Am I the only one wearing a mask around all these chemicals? I can't imaging using this stuff indoors

    • @HobbyistLife

      The ipa wont do it. Its the wiping it out with basically any type of rag or towel. It puts scratches on the fep which people think is it getting cloudy. This guy is making it twice as bad by wiping the bottom.

    I must ask, did you buy the resin pour and hold caddy or make it yourself? Either way definitely smart to have that for this hobby/career

      I have printed the resin pour, I believe the link is in the description. Those things help to make the cleaning process easier. This is a very messy hobby.

    Any UK FDM bro's out there able to help us resin noobs out by selling these stands on Etsy? I could only find 1 seller in the US, and I don't think the design was as good (and delivery cost was prohibitively expensive). Think you would sell bucket loads of them for £20 (inc. p&p) -would be easy money?

    Using this method only once made my FEP quite scratched up. Any better ways of cleaning the VAT?

    • @HobbyistLife
      @HobbyistLife  5 месяцев назад

      I don't know how your vat stretched with that, I always do that way with all my printers never had an issue. You do not need to do any force to clean, it's basically spray the alcohol and wipe. Maybe your fep was a little bit loose? I know of people who spray a lot of alcohol and use a soft brush, that's a method too, but I believe you still need to wipe somehow or the alcohol will interact with the resin next time, or you can wait it evaporate completely.

    • @wmcmick
      @wmcmick 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@HobbyistLife It didn't stretch, but it got scratches, the nose tissue paper I used was too abrasive.

    • @HobbyistLife
      @HobbyistLife  5 месяцев назад

      Oh sorry, my bad. Misread. You can use the softest tissue papar you can find, just try something not abrasive. That's why I use those for nose cleaning or baby cleaning, they are suppose to be much less abrasive.

  • @mrinductionakagolddenboy5645

    Your not supposed to put alcohol on your fep ,you will cause it to get cloudy prematurely. And loose quality in your prints.

    When cleaning my FEP with IPA is seems become hazy/ cloudy in places. What am I doing wrong?

    • @technoartfest8708
      @technoartfest8708 Год назад

      That's exactly my question , they say is "completely clean" but it becomes opaque ,hazy and you see resin stuck albeit is a little bit ,the concern however is that which each print it will multiply the effect. . I have been wondering if it is at all possible to get the FEP truly clean for real , like when it was installed for first time , what we need to do.? I wonder why Elegoo don't use a a especial full crystal as the resin tank. that is very strong and you can overheat to just remove any particle of resin attached . The big problem with this cloudy zones is that not only increase printing times but also induce failures and accuracy problems according too experts. :( , The best advice that i have seen with potential ,is that after cleaning the tank using Elegoo clean tank settings, to use cleaners and a micro cloth like the ones people use use to clean reading glasses.

Looking forward to find the solution of this problem. Because changing the FEP every week or day to keep printing in high quality is not an option.

      You need to filter it which he did since the sovol funnel comes with a filter. It's mostly fine but it might slightly degrade the quality of the resin in the bottle. It's better to store used resin in its own bottle but not strictly necessary.
