wilpertti31 Yeah Yari is a living legend in Finland , so i'm not bothered too much with his comment. Know there are a lot of frustrated people out there that need the internet as exhaust for build-up rage :)
Jari was a great player. If he had been from one of the major European countries, he would've been celebrated as one of the world's greats like a Del Piero or Bergkamp.
I think he was seen as a world great. As a Liverpool fan, when we signed him in 2000/01 his reputation was that of an elite footballer. And we got him for free! :)
Let's not fight, let's all come together in aprecciation for Jari Litmanen. He scored many great goals and to narrow it down to ten is hard, you could do a top 50 of Litmanen easily. i really enjoyed this vid, the way he breezed passed Baresi, what a memory. My second favourite player of all time after Edgar Davids. Such happy times.
Ik ben er trots op om naar deze held vernoemd te zijn! Mijn vader heeft toch op het laatste moment de goede keuze gemaakt om mij niet Bart maar Jari te noemen. Ik zal deze naam met trots tot in de eeuwigheid dragen!
40 year and still goin strong! Maybe the best number 10 ever who has played at Ajax. Great respect for such a great sportsmen... a hero for me and lots of other Ajax-supporters. Jari, best wishes and happy birthday.
What an absolutely fantastic player he was ! You could not get a better repertoire of goals than this. Left foot, right foot, long distance strikes, dribbles, dummies, free kicks, volleys, chips, etc, he was a one in a million player, for Finland probably a once in all history ! A sublime first touch and composure as good as you get. Always feared meeting Ajax in those days. What a team as well Ajax was, just looking at very few of so many of those great players they had in that squad in these clips, Litmanen along with Kanu and Finidi George as the three foreigners. Many of todays over-hyped players, especially the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo can't hold a candle to this genius !
There are a lot of players that I call great... But only one that I idolize; Jari. Ever single video of Litmanen gives me goosebumps. I hope that he will return to Amsterdam soon.
That divine touch... OMG, so soft yet so effective! And what about that incredible awareness of teammates?!?! Jari "The King" Litmanen. I loved the Ajax period, especially the Champions League, where he annihilated the opposition with his legendary dutch teammates!
@@rudde7918 The thing with Ajax is, that you just know that sooner or later they will field a great team on the pitch again that will do great in UCL. 18/19 season was worth the wait. :)

Without a doubt Jari Litmanen was the greatest -10- in the mid 90's. The incredible young Ajax squad from that era was greatly enhanced by the football intelligence and experience from players like Rijkaard, Seedorf, Litmanen, F & R de Boer, Kluivert, Overmars and Blind. Make that second since they won the EuefaCup in 94, Cl winner in 95 and 2nd place CL 96, allthough they lost from a Juve that was high on blood-enabolics and uppers appearantly, but sadly thats a closed book. Modern day football, only involved in money, is rotten to the core. Barcelona, Real, City, PSG and many others are playing unfair these days. Isn't it sad that these clubs spent hundred of millions on players, all money that could have been invested in their youth-education instead of just a few players. If you spend 100 hundred million on your youth academy, you will get 10 Bales in return instead of one. All it takes is some time but it will pay out eventually! Instead of buying one supertalent, clubs should focus on training and educating dozens. Ajax, in fact, has over a 100 million euro's in the bank, but have decided to only invest small ammounts of money on young yet above avarage intelligent football wise players, and train them in the Ajax philosophy and has people like Bergkamp, Overmars, V/d Sar and Frank de Boer under his wings in the organisation, all players from the mid 90's at Ajax, and of course let's not forget Cruyff....
