Sorry I'm a bit late to the party ohjajohh, been busy over Christmas and not sitting in front of the computer. I love your comparison videos, they're a really nice way to see how two lenses perform without having to get out there and do the hard work. The Minolta shots looked a touch more detailed on the trees in the background, but that might have just been the fact the lens seems a little brighter, and we all know that the RUclips compression steals a fair bit of the quality, so your opinion will be more accurate having seen the original footage. There's always something special about using an old, well built lens, so the fact that the Minolta feels a bit plasticky would turn my favour to the Pentax too. Great video, and happy new year.
Hi Tim, thanks for watching and happy new year to you too! Yes, even if the Minolta is slightly better, I still prefer the Pentax because of the build quality. Whenever I use an old lens, the experience is very important to me. I rather use a well-build metal lens than a plasticky lens that feels like a toy.
@@ohjajohh I'm with you all the way - it was the feel of the very first good vintage lens that I used that got me hooked. Obviously I'd used some vintage lenses when I was a kid, but they were generally low cost versions and I was too young to appreciate the good ones anyway. I did have one brilliant lens when I was young, and I replaced it with a budget zoom lens - luckily I kept the good lens, a 55mm Yashinon f1.8, and what an awesome lens it is - and it's not radioactive either!!!
Very nice review .I used the 50 mm minolta but since i bought a 50 mm olympus i prefer the olympus.they are very close but i prefer the olympus colors .Superb video well done
Your right about plastic and cheap, MD AND x-700 were cheaply built with plastic to make them lighter, they don't last as long as old pre Konica minolta partnership items, try a 1.7 rokkor, -X, with an xd11 or srt now that's quality!!! Like Pentax but in high school days the name sounded too feminine for my tastes, still am minolta, but also a Nikon And Sony now, user, however outdoorsy activities slap on my gopros and go wo worrying of cracking/denting good sruff!!! Thanks for the comparison, I enjoyed it quite so!!!
Thanks for your comment. I've never tried a Rokkor or -X lens yet. I will try to look for one in 2023. Build quality is important to me whenever I use vintage lenses. I like 'm old, durable and heavy :)
Huh, very interesting. Is it just me or the Minolta looks way sharper than the Pentax, almost like the classic "digital sharpness" that we associate with modern lenses? Anyway, thanks a lot for sharing!
The Minolta looks brighter indeed, but I'm not sure about sharpness, RUclips compression also can give a bit of a bad image. When I compare pictures at 100% the Pentax looks sharper wide open, while stopped down they look almost identical.
@@ohjajohh could be youtube compression mixed with brightness, but the people moving looked so much clearer. But really, as your conclusion said, they're just so similar, I couldn't really pick them apart.
Good understanding of camera performance
I want to skate on a natural skating rink

Is it attached to the a7iii with an adapter?
Yes, I use a MD-Nex adapter for Minolta and PK-Nex adapter for the Pentax. The adapters are cheap and work fine
*꧁ O melhor dos melhores 💣 Obrigado 👌 Bom vídeo.. 👍 Tudo ótimo 👍 ꧂*
