Very cool test (nice framing, great colors). I have a smc tak 50mm f1.4 a'd some Pentax 28mm and 135mm) but i'm thinking to sell the tak to only have pentax (and easier workflow with adapters and filters and colorgrafing) ; i'mvery impressed with that pentax m. Great job!!!
I enjoyed that - before I got to the end and your verdict, I kept clicking between the two lenses, and I'd already made up my mind, the Pentax-M is clearly the "technically" better lens, probably not surprising as it's newer and benefits from multi coatings and so on, but if I was wanting to shoot some atmospheric video footage, I'd probably grab the Takumar for it's slightly more dreamy look. Great comparison video, it works well to show the fairly small differences between the two lenses.
Cheers, you're absolutely right. Technically the Pentax-M is better, but if you need some more atmospheric footage, the Takumar would be the better choice.
They both are great lenses, with very similar look’s as the Pentax 50mm f1.7 is derived from the the Takumar 50mm f1.8 / f2. They both have 6 elements in 5 groups in a standard DG design. Both the M42 Takumar’s and the K mount Pentax glass make great sets.
Hi Captain!! This content amusing! Good channel maintenance. I'm impressed on how you ended this video Never tired of these. ! though didn't anticipated the ending
Love these shaggy almost alien looking cows. I Think there’s a Scottish breed very similar to this. The Pentax-M is besting the Tak to my eye atleast until the end, which makes me wonder if it’s youtube compression. I am wondering if you had any trouble adapting the Pentax M with that extra wide aperture arm sticking out the back? Was there a specific K-mount adaptor that works it? (K-mount to EF-mount?)
Cheers, even though this video is taken in The Netherlands, they are Scottish Heilan coo/Highland cow indeed. In many parks here in the Netherlands they roam around freely and function as 'natural lawn mowers'. I used a cheap Pentax K to Nex (Sony) adapter that works fine. No trouble with anything sticking out. RUclips compression can be a thing though. These are 100mbps 4k video's, but RUclips compression is way lower than that.
Love my M lenses I have a number of them as well as Takumar lenses I do have one of the later Takumar 50mm1.4 Radioactive lens and Pentax 50mm2.0 ,55mm1.8 and a Pentax 50mm1.8 autofocus lens my least favorite of the lenses is the 50mm2.0
Gruß Rainer Well shown and certainly well explained. Unfortunately, the subtitle is not available in German. But just seeing and how the picture changes says a lot. Thumbs up No. 7 is from me. Greetings Rainer

Gorgeous images!! And these subjects are something else!!🤩
Awesome comparison! You obviously know your vintage lenses -- as that's becoming rarer and rarer as time goes on. We're super impressed 👏

They are both great lenses. I think i would prefer the Takumar for video and the Pentax-M for stills.

Thanks for your comment, that 50mm f1.4 is on my wish-list

Very interesting lens.. wow!!
From my personal test the 1.7 was always sharper then any of the other 50’s . But……. What do you think .
This was actually my first time trying out the 50 1.7 and I was pleasantly surprised. It's a great lens!
I agree with you
You camera is a Pentax. Very nice. Very interesting lens and beautiful color. My camera is a Sony. Stay connected.
Awesome!Thank you for sharing✨
Cool comparison.. I enjoyed both lenses.. really clear! 👍
I preferred the Takumar.
