If you really the comments Melody, why haven’t you addressed why Excel left the pod. The three of you guys have a very solid synergy and that’s I followed you here from Terms & Conditions. We understand if he’s busy doing other career defining things, it’ll just be nice for you to address why he left and when he’ll potentially come back. 😊😊
I agree with Uche concerning Asake album. The leap he took sonically with Lungu Boy and the fact that he was able to make it work that album is award winning. He took a step out of his comfort zone and it worked for him.
As far as BBN to Music pipeline goes i feel like it’s a lot of things that contributes to these artistes not breaking in. First, the material(music) hasn’t been convincing enough but besides that, it’s that “BBN” tag attached to them. They aren’t taken as seriously cos of the platform and this is also from the players in the music industry, you can also see it with someone like Nasboi. It’s hard for the players in the music industry to take Nasboi and his art serious because he’s a “comedian/skit maker” . Industry guys will and cannot believe that this comedian is doing music now and playing in the same field as them. No matter how far these guys go with their music career ( whether they eventually get to make good music or not ) there’ll always be that tag; “oh it’s that comedian that started doing music” or “it’s that guy from BBN that does music”. For them being a music artist will always be secondary, especially how the industry and consumers at large view them. Will they be accepted as musicians that they are or are they people that got a platform from doing something else and just started releasing music? This is the bigger question.
