  • In this video I change the trans fluid in my 04 350z. I use Redline fluid which people recommend for helping smooth out the shifts in older model Z's with synchros starting to fail. I made the mistake of only getting 3 US Quarts, you will need 4 if you want to fill the trans all the way up till the fluid spills out of the fill plug. I also replace the Gasket/Washer for both the drain plug and the fill plug. Thanks for watching, please Like and Subscribe.

Awesome video! One major note, ALWAYS crack your fill plug before your drain plug, you don't want to drain it and then figure out that your fill plug is seized or not able to be removed. Otherwise, outstanding video quick and easy!

Good point, for those that would need to take it somewhere if that happened, no longer possible haha. Thank you for the comment and suggestion.

@@kamalakeel Late to the vids, but picking up another 350z as a project after years back of having some and I stumbled across the video. Definitely going to follow the channel as you have great advice and shoot the vids well!

Great videos Kamal. I might suggest that it’s important to make sure the fill plug isn’t froze up before you drain trans fluid (or rear diff). Keep up the good work.

    Oil filter ?

The manual transmission doesn’t have a filter but if it’s an auto Z there is a filter to change along with the fluid.

    Hey nice video
Question, is this only for 04? I have an 08 and I was thinking of doing it since the car been sitting there for 3 years. And I though changing fluids should be a good idea

How do you feel about redline vs oem

So it’s just drain and fill no bleeding correct? Only reason I ask is because it looks like the pump does let a decent amount of air in the transmission. Super helpful though I’m going to be doing this on my 05 Z!

Yeea, there’s no bleeding. The trans has a breather hose at the top. Same with the rear diff which has the same procedure for changing the fluid. The breather hose allows any built up pressure or air to escape. The fluid does expand when it gets hot as well. I’m glad this video was helpful and thank you for the comment.
