I also think I heard (not completely sure) it's like if they're a couple years apart, and not like a 30 year old can get with a 13 year old and be completely fine.
@nneoma there's certain places where 16 can be age of consent.. in Colorado it's 17 and anyone 16 and under is not legal.. then there's a thing where the age of consent could be 18 and minimum age of the "victim" could be 15.. so ig they have a limit to how low you can go and how much leeway a person can get??? Before I watched this movie tbh I thought the actor was pretty handsome. Probably because I saw him in another movie playing a much more likable character. I actually still find the actor pretty handsome the but the character he nplays is ugly as shit. Actually in the manga she says it's her sister's (not clever, I know, but she panics bc she is so affraid of Incel), and because incel's father is Hatsumi's own father's boss, she becomes his slave so her father won't be humiliated (also if he starts a rumor in their neighborhood it's bad bc Incel's mother litteraly knows everybody and if she hates somebody everybody would do the same). After she tells him her sister is not pregnant, he just slut shames her like "it doesn't change anything, she is 15 and has sex already, she is a slut, the only fact that she needed a pregnancy test says everything" (what such a good guy huh). The manga was... terrible BUT at least you understand more how he can blackmail her (if he tells anything 1) her father is going to be ashamed at his job 2) her family won't be able to have any more friend in the neighborhood because Incel's mother is so powerful 3) and of course her little sister might be in trouble thinking she doesn't want her parents to know). This makes the romance in the manga even worse!

Students often stay in their schools for 12+ hours and I think this increases the chances for bullying situations, so it's not that rare to hear that an student beat their classmate to death and etc.

Family is entirely about love. Matching genetics aren't needed to have people be real family. Incest is only about the biological aspect, and it doesn't care about who is family. If you and your sister hooked up and had kids (which would be gross since you're siblings, matching DNA or not), there would be no elevated risk to those kids as there would be if you and your biological sister had kids. People who never know they're related who hook up and have sex are committing incest, despite not being family in the sense we see family. We have something called the Westermarck effect that makes us grossed out at the thought of hooking up with those we see as family, especially those raised with us in our earliest years. If my daughter and her best friend, who see each other as sister and brother, were to hook up later, I'd be so grossed out since they're too much like siblings.

I get what they’re trying to do but it lack cohesiveness. Maybe if it was a drama, it would have been a bit better. It is not incest because you DO NOT share the same DNA. Incest with closely related family is forbidden since the DNA of relatives cannot really mix, hence the higher change of producing mentally and physically ill offspring. It is forbidden out of biological reasons, not ethical reasons.

If i recall correctly, the original creator was actually in a similar situation with her editors/ publishers who forced her to do the story the way it was. Hence why she released a chapter years later to "correct" the ending. Kind of horrifying in hindsight Edit: okay. So it wasn't a chapter, it was apparently a light novel where she had to use nicknames for the characters as a sort of wink wink nudge nudge. Editors in the manga industry can be horrible to work with, as they have SO MUCH control over the story and can enact last second changes. And in some cases, you have some writers/ artists entering one hell of a crunch to make sure the media is put out. Obviously not all editors, but I've heard some stories that have made my skin crawl.

After learning in my cultural anthropology class that incest is a human taboo across cultures and not just a law-based definition, I found that so many different cultures have varying definitions of what classifies as incest taboo. Actually in the manga she says it's her sister's (not clever, I know, but she panics bc she is so affraid of Incel), and because incel's father is Hatsumi's own father's boss, she becomes his slave so her father won't be humiliated (also if he starts a rumor in their neighborhood it's bad bc Incel's mother litteraly knows everybody and if she hates somebody everybody would do the same). After she tells him her sister is not pregnant, he just slut shames her like "it doesn't change anything, she is 15 and has sex already, she is a slut, the only fact that she needed a pregnancy test says everything" (what such a good guy huh).
The manga was... terrible BUT at least you understand more how he can blackmail her (if he tells anything 1) her father is going to be ashamed at his job 2) her family won't be able to have any more friend in the neighborhood because Incel's mother is so powerful 3) and of course her little sister might be in trouble thinking she doesn't want her parents to know). If you and your sister hooked up and had kids (which would be gross since you're siblings, matching DNA or not), there would be no elevated risk to those kids as there would be if you and your biological sister had kids. People who never know they're related who hook up and have sex are committing incest, despite not being family in the sense we see family.
We have something called the Westermarck effect that makes us grossed out at the thought of hooking up with those we see as family, especially those raised with us in our earliest years. If my daughter and her best friend, who see each other as sister and brother, were to hook up later, I'd be so grossed out since they're too much like siblings.

If i recall correctly, the original creator was actually in a similar situation with her editors/ publishers who forced her to do the story the way it was.
Hence why she released a chapter years later to "correct" the ending.

Edit: okay. So it wasn't a chapter, it was apparently a light novel where she had to use nicknames for the characters as a sort of wink wink nudge nudge.
Editors in the manga industry can be horrible to work with, as they have SO MUCH control over the story and can enact last second changes. And in some cases, you have some writers/ artists entering one hell of a crunch to make sure the media is put out.
Obviously not all editors, but I've heard some stories that have made my skin crawl.
