As a vet, I have never understand the ph thing of cold process soap. Almost every petshampoo has an alcaline ph, so..... Also, never bathe the dogs more often than every 2 weeks, that alters the skin and coat more, than any cp soap
I really appreciate you explaining things in such detail. I have learned so much from you even though I have been making soap for two years. It shows in my products. You rock
Thank you so much for this recipe! I had heard so many negative things about home made dog shampoo that I had given up hope of making any. Love your channel! You ROCK!!
One leading dog soaper uses coconut oil which I can only assume has a high superfat but I find coconut oil to dry my skin at almost any cleansing number so here I am learning about yours too
I asked my kitties vet about their pH, they told me that cats have a pH of 7-7.5, and they even recommended a soap made with catnip. Have you ever had to make a cat soap?? That could be another pet shampoo day! :)
I used your recipe for dog soap. Do you ever use a test strip for a PH for a dog. What would you consider a good PH for a dog? Thanks for all your hard work on things like this.. 👍
I change the ingredients a little bit. I add .05 oz Neem power. then .2 oz of bentonite clay. Then 1.00 oz of cider vinegar powder. And 2oz colloidal oats. 2 tsp level lemongrass oil and one teaspoon level cedarwood oil. Added this in after a light Trace and hand stirred it in. Not sure how this will turn out waiting for them in the mold. I looked up each ingredient and is it safe for dogs and it's benefits.
That’s what I want to do. All recipes can be made hot process by changing the water %. What’s nice is ingredients can be added after the cook to preserve its qualities
🙌🙌 yay!! We love your pet shampoo bars! I can't wait to share them with our dane families! We bathe ours every 2 weeks in the summer and only if they get into something in the winter because of how cold it gets here. But puppies get more baths cause they are messy lol
I've been looking into doing a dog shampoo for a while. I'm glad I came across this video. I had been looking on Etsy to see what other soapers were making theirs with. I noticed most of them are using the same ingredients I use in making my human soap. Is there anything I should do differently in making this for my dogs with oil amounts or could I literally use the same bar- well Not The Same Bar but same recipe on them???
Can't wait to try this recipe, thanks for sharing! :) I don't have Karanja Oil and can't seem to find it with my suppliers here in B.C. Canada. Can I use Neem Oil instead? I've heard it's also good to repel fleas and ticks.
Mrs. Soap and Clay! I need help!! I am looking to make some liquid dog shampoo (starting with KOH) but I can not find a single dog shampoo recipe online that produces from scratch they are all just easy DYI versions for anyone to throw together or CP (which I also want to make). If you could point me in the right direction that would be so awesome
Hey! I haven’t done a liquid soap recipe for dogs on the channel. Realistically the best place to start would be checking out the soap paste recipe, going heavier on olive and dog safe oils, and using the paste to make a liquid soap.
Love your vid's! I've only been soaping for 2.5 years, but loving all the tips and tricks you give. Is there a substitute for Karanga oil? My 106lb lap dog Lab (So she thinks) won't let me bathe her (weird for a Lab - water dog, I know!!)
Crazy question. would shea/cocoa butters be a decent substitute for the palm oil? Thanks as always for sharing your wisdom. We foster dogs and at given time we have about 8 dogs in our house with our own and our fosters. So yeah bathing is always so much fun 😳😂🤣
@@mvelenagarcia as soon as I read your reply I had to smack myself with a duh lol. I think I am so use to asking if Cocoa/Shea is a good replacement that I didn’t even realize. Duh dummy it’s for a dog 🐶. #brainfart
Thank you for all the information! So regarding curing time is six weeks ok or longer? I'm not using sodium lactate I may do a water discount ...and what can I substitute the palm with ? I don't mind using palm but my clients may...I love your channel thank you again.
With my dog he get a bath at least once a month or three months because of his super dry skin but I love this now I can make shampoo for my dog ya!!! Ps. I only shampoo like once a month I have extremely dry scalp and skin 😭
Essential oils are used depending on their max safety; is this the one where I used chamomile blend? That can be used at 3-5% in soap. There are definitely some essential oils that shouldn’t be used above 1%!
I wanted to ask a question of if ok (might be a dumb question but I'm still new at this😬). If I were to make it with potassium hydroxide instead.. can it be a liquid soap?
Castor is not a high amount in this, so the end bar will be soap with a higher glycerin content. If castor were a major ingredient in the recipe, you’d have created your first melt and pour base!
Hi I have a yorkiepoo with very dry skin. I purchased a soap and wanna try to make it myself but can’t find a recipe.. the ingredients says sponifield oils olive coconut castor sweet almond RSPO palm goat milk milk powder ground oatmeal salt turmeric and nat fragrance.. have you ever made one with these ingredients? If so can you send me the video.
Hi! Haven’t made a pup shampoo with those exact ingredients, but based on the listing it sounds like coconut and castor are the two oils most used. Both great for bubbles, and the remaining ingredients stabilize the lather and provide moisturizing properties.
That is a big question! I think it depends on where in the world you are - all of these ingredients are easily sourced from soaper's choice in the US at a great price point!
From one bully breed owner to another yes I'm talking about English bulldogs I have them 100 lb is too much weight for that little dog it should not be over 65 lb that little fat boy needs a diet LOL it's not good for their joints or their heart just an FYI I'm sure you would never do anything to hurt your pets but I think that he needs to go on a diet
He’s an Olde English Bulldogge; they’re built big, and he’s a tall one! He’s got a gorgeous waist and a beautiful chest waddle and is definitely not overweight. Not a “little” dog. 😂
I’m dirty and gross, but the pups are not. 😂

What oil could the palm oil be replaced with?

Where did you get the pup paw molds? I can’t seem to find any that are that big.

Its heals too! I am researching precentages now. Remind me in a week and I will share what I've found.
@@monicahatch6498 did you find out about the percentage on the neem oil?
@@TruthandloveKRA 8 to 10% is what i use depending on the other oils and butters. I recently did one at 12% and it smells like neem.

do you have to change the recipe if you don't add the oils?

do you have a recipe for a liquid pet shampoo

hi there, Can i replace the Karanja oil with something else? or cut it out completly?
Hemp is a good replacement!

Can I swap Shea for palm. I have so much Shea lol accidents happen
Yes that's what I'm going to do as I don't use palm in any of my soaps, palm oil is so bad for the enviroment

Mix it with the aloe
Can i use melt and pour?
