Elvis presley, on the piano, seriously ill, literally weeks before he passed away. When you begin to fully understand that, then and ONLY THEN, will you fully understand just how remarkable this is. An iconic artist, the likes of which may never be seen again.
This song hits a lot harder after watching the movie. It’s like this song was his final farewell to the audience and no one knew it. And he poured his whole heart and soul into it and gave it all he had WHILE at deaths doorway. Anyone who can still perform so beautifully at that bad a health deserves the stage forever…may Elvis live forever in our hearts. R.I.P. King ❤️🙏🏻🌹
Freddie Mercury was literally just like that as well! Queen’s The Show Must Go On hits so much different and in the same harder context once you know exactly what happened before the song was released and afterwards. As we all know now, Freddie was battling AIDS, and he knew he could no longer fight it. Similarly to Elvis singing Unchained Melody as his final curtain call to the world, Freddie singing The Show Must Go On was his final curtain call to the world, while also telling the fans and the rest of the band who loved him, to carry on without him.
