A couple of notes: H&R and PSA now offer properly "marked" M16A1 and M16A2, M4, M4A1 and many other properly marked lowers for clone builds. And they are all reasonably priced. "F" marked front sight bases are .040" TALLER (not lower) and are not intended for "carry handle" uppers (except _detachable_ carry handles) but they WILL work with a carry handle upper. You just have to adjust the front sight post DOWN .040", or mill or file .040" off the top of the front sight post. Also a NON-"F" marked front sight will work on a flat top upper. You can buy a front sight post which is .040" taller for a few dollars. BTW, newer Colt and FN front sight bases are not "F" marked but ARE the correct height for flat top uppers. Since neither of those manufacturers makes a carry handle upper anymore, the quit marking them.
There will always be jerks in life, don't let them keep you from doing or building something you like. The process should be fun after all! Good metaphor for life.
1.they look cool 2.cant get lost (US army will be happy) 3.g o o s e n e c k 4.iconic 5.can hold zero even if used as carry handle But in a serious note, cloners have waaaaaaay too much faith that the military and its manufacturers and soldiers always all do what a manual or whatever says they ought to. Its exactly like the scale modelers who get huffy that your tank isnt correct because it has the wrong idler wheel or paint even thought you consulted photos and theres plenty of photos where things arent as they “ought to” be. And even if there were no photos ever of anything being “wrong” is it really so outlandish that a first pattern M16 or something had A1/A2 stuff added to it over the course of its career. In combat things break and wear out and if it can be repaired with spare parts from whatever the new pattern of weapon/vehicle/what have you is then it probably will be in actual reality. Plenty of photos of setups actually used in war that would upset these cloning snobs. Thus concludes my rant about forum trolls who think they are something more than that.
I apologize. I just looked and they are out of stock now. They should have more soon as they usually have them in stock. Brownells will likely have a quality A1 barrel in stock.
Meanwhile, my M16 retro build is a KP15 lower, and has A1, A2 and A4 things going on lmao I never much cared for 'exact' clones, as long as people can appreciate that it looks like an M16
🇦🇺😎👍Hey Big John….l don’t judge you Big John , we aren’t allowed those scary guns down here. The tyrants don’t trust us….I wonder how many Germans got drilled with the Mosin ? Great video Big John 🏁

@8mmmauserman i get it. I own 4, 20 inch barrels from Delton that shoot fairly accurate. Around 1 to 2 MOA. Your the second person I've seen have a A2 with quad rail. Do a vidio on A2 GWOT set up. That's my favorite setup for the A2 with the gooseneck.
A lot of it comes down to terminology. A "clone" is going to be an exact copy. A clone of an M16A1 will be made from original and/or reproduction parts. Slapping an A1 upper on a modern lower is not a clone. It's what we affectionately call a "Fraken AR". A Frankenstein monster of mismatched parts.
Great topic, as usual! I can say the H&R 20” chrome-lined 1:12 barrel is great. I also deviated on my clone, using a Bushmaster receiver that has a shell deflector, which as a lefty I really like. In fact, my rifle is probably closer to a Canadian C-7! ruclips.net/video/tPOCy48yKI8/видео.html
I think the reason that cloners are being jerks to you is because you didn't build a clone. You simply made a functioning AR with modern parts using a parts kit. It appears that you made no effort trying to make the replacement parts you put on in a look original and that's fine but it's not what cloning is. You build a modern retro rifle or an A1 inspired build but it's definitely not a clone. Building a clone is about making a rifle as close to original as you can within your budget, ability and legal restrictions. If you would have spray painted your lower gray to get a little bit closer to matching the upper It would be a start. On the upside I bet you shoot your rifle way more than 90% of the cloners do.

Thanks for the info on the F Marked front sights. I learned about those differences after I uploaded the video.

M16A2 is just aesthetically perfect
I think the A1 has more drip, but the A2 is the better sight.
Nice ,also .I don't have one. A-3 models though.
I agree , a1 looked good but a2 is was peak
M16a2 but with a A1 stock is perfect
A2 is peak aesthetic i think, a4 look super call of duty cool

“Cloners can suck.” -themoistestnugget
@@8mmmauserman basically xD
Fulton Armory has the best quality A1 barrel you can get in stock. It's a Criterion in proper A1 format.

Interrestingly nerdy. I'm entertained. Thx👍
“Interestingly nerdy is my personality
A "F" marked FSB will work with your A1, it's just your front sight will be screwed in 0.04" further than with a standard FSB.

I always wonder that too, and how many commies with the M16

“Dang you Joe Morris!”
Are those screws on the bottom of your mags during the shooting clips?
I may have used some footage with my 22lr conversion kit. In that case, those magazines are molded in halves and screwed together.
so my question is what about foregrips ?
I like them but also want to run a retro build lol
I think I’ll try to get to a video about that! Thanks for the idea.
Why do you think Delton barrels are not good.
They're ok. Mine have been reliable, but in my experience they're not the most accurate, likely lower QC, just lower grade in general.

“It’s not a clone unless it has a 3rd pin hole.”
Cloners are definitely a special kind of elitist. I'm not even offended towards their often hostile antics, more perplexed than anything else really.
It really is strange…

I haven’t spray painted the lower because it’s a pace holder until I can get the correct one.
Thanks for the thoughts regardless. Have a nice day
Real nice video.
Lock washer....sorry.
We all make mistakes. Thanks for the comment
I love my A1s
Nyet, A1 is fine.
I think the A2 sight peeked. Change my mind
