- Removing a pop rivet. Sounds easy right? Some go way too far and destroy the hole it came out if. I'll show you the wrong way and how I remove them. That way you have a good area to reattach.

Thanks for the video - I can tell you, your method is the best one that worked. It also doesn't need any special tools. This is also an important consideration since I am DIY guy and not a professional. So I can't afford to buy special tools just for a once in random situations. Thanks and keep sharing your wisdom.
Super helpful, thank you! I have a bunch of rivets to remove from inside a van I just bought and if I were to blindly drill through, my van would be left with a load of tiny holes in its walls and ceilings... this is the first workable solution I've seen, thank you so much for sharing 🙏
This is precisely what the internet is for when it’s at its best. Your video helped me and made my job simpler. Thanks
Looking for something completely unrelated, but this is good info. I’ll remember this. Thanks man
Thanks! This was exactly what I needed to learn. I appreciate you sharing this knowledge. Anything worth doing, is worth doing right!
Thanks for the tip, used this in a completely different situation getting some old rivets out of a scaffolding hatch to replace the wood :)
Working on getting my dirt bikes exhaust rivets out and I wish I watched this before I drilled through the middle of them. I have half them left in but I'm gonna give the punch idea a try
Nice explanation and technique! I was looking for a good video to share with a friend.👍
Awesome video!! Thank you for sharing
Thank You!
watched a few videos on this, and this one is definitely the one!
thanks again!!
Nice! Glad it was helpful!
That’s great in ideal circumstances, although I’m trying to remove 23 year old rivets from a boat. The holes are no longer there and I don’t have access to the back of the rivet. I got 2 out really easily but the others I’ve tried are leaving the back of the river in the hole. I’ve tried drilling with a larger drill bit but the rivet just spins in the hole now. Any other tips??
Thanks for the video
Thank you sooo much for the info 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 great example!!
So helpful thank you.
Thanks a million, man.
Excellent video. Clear and concise. Thank you
Well done video, Thanks. I was thinking that this would be the way to go but I always check RUclips before trying something for the first time to avoid possible embarrassment. Some of the videos on this subject look like they are butchering the original hole by trying to drill the steel pin. If i had a bunch to do I would make a drift bit for my pneumatic chisel. That should make quick work of it.
Older vid but super helpful. TY.
What to do if there is no hole in the rivet and the top surface is plain ?
What was the first tool you used in the first step?
thank you ive got a mustang seat i want to recover and its revived but i want to keep the original covering incase i screw up the new one.
Good info, thanks.
Cool. Thanks man!
Trying to drill guitar case hinge rivets (they're small)., the drill keeps slipping off the head of the rivet. any special drift you called it? I can get?
thx internet dad!
my guitar case hinges have rivets and I have broken drill bits and whatever you call that punch, they break in half... you can't drill a round surface everything. just slips right off, been working this for weeks now...
great video. Most people dont know this.
I worked with someone this past week and he removed a few pop rivets by drilling them right out. lol Trashed the holes. 🤦
I like your method to remove a rivet. But in some cases it is not possible to get the rivet to an anvil and driving out the metal insert will just bend the metal around the rivet. How would you approach these rivets?
Really don’t know. I’d have to see what that situation looked like. If the rivet went in, there will be a way to remove it.
What is the best way to remove a rivet from a hot wheels car, where the rivet is part of the die cast piece?
Great tip. THX!
Excellent technique for a small piece that can be placed on a vice. But for pop riveted fender flares on a 66 Mustang without banging dents into the body? Hmmmmm?
Does this also work with rivets on wood? We just realized that our bed surface was attached using rivets instead of screws.
I don’t know. I’d have to see what they look like. Are they made of aluminum? If you know the manufacturer of the bed wood kit, might be better to call them and see what they suggest.
EXCELLANT VIDEOS. THANKS
