    Do you book your own flights or do you go through a travel agent? 🤷‍♀️ Let us know in the comments! 👇

      I have recently turned to a travel agent because trying to book extensive vacations seemed daunting, and always wondering if I was overlooking something. I am trying to become better at managing it myself.

    We deliberately book flight with long layovers. We call those mini holidays, looking about a near city, airport lounge for free food and shower helps break up longer trips.

      Good thinking 99! On my long haul flights which are typically indirect l will set a minimum layover time. This gives me some slack to cover a possible late arrival and movement around the airport between gates.
      I base this layover time on where l'm flying to (airport) and with which carrier. It's not hard to establish the punctuality of your flight or the performance of the airports you are using.

    Any advice on what to do since Google flights has gotten rid of the "Nearby Airports" button. I know you can still type other airports in but sometimes it's hard to know what's nearby and now you can't see it on a map either.

    • @UniversalDust
      @UniversalDust 3 года назад +1

      Late response but you can check nearby airports on skyscanner and then input into Google Flights. Or try matrix.itasoftware.com Once you enter the destination airport an option to click "nearby" appears to the right and when you click you can choose to set a distance limit and it shows you how far in miles from your selected destination the nearby options are (No map eventhough google help showed a map)

    Another reason to not transfer in the US if your destination is outside of the US: You have to pass through US customs even if you're only transferring. It's tedious and a pain in the butt to deal with another customs check. Also they stamp your passport. If you're a frequent traveler that means your passport will be potentially filled up sooner.

    Why do you choose US dollars when you search air tickets? I wonder if your credit card company does not charge foreign exchange fee or you have a bank account in US.

    • @PortableProfessional
      @PortableProfessional  4 года назад +1

      I don't when I search for tickets in Canada that I am actually booking. I used US dollars for this video because it tends to be a standard currency that people around the world are familiar with and can convert to relative to their home currency. The majority of my audience is also US based. :)

    Interesting Video Megan as always I'll be staying at home because my countries businesses will need my money after knockdown is lifted I imagine you'll be going back to Vietnam after lockdown is over. I will probably go on a cruise too when funds allow too.

      Leo Howard oh that’s definitely something to think about , help rebuild the local economy! Also great to hear a cruise is in the plan. Fun stuff !
      Family is a much bigger priority for me than travel at the moment. I honestly doubt I’ll be away from Canada much apart for short trips over the next year. We will see :)

    Great job as always. I think you used the word direct which is not the same as nonstop. Once you make that mistake once in booking you won't make it again. You may want to search for only one person first to narrow down your choices and then check the price again with the additional passengers. If there is only one $700 dollar ticket left on the flight and you chose two passengers neither of you will get the $700 ticket you both will pay more. Airlines are sneaky bastards.

    • @PortableProfessional
      @PortableProfessional  4 года назад +1

      Very good point! Definitely a difference, thanks for catching that! True on the price jump. I once called Delta complaining about the huge jump in cost when an additional passenger was added. They said it's because the section where two people could sit together was more expensive. I was able to get the 1 person price for two people by agreeing to sit in separate sections. Wish I could have opted for that online without having to call!
