Electrician here: your smokie is wired in so that it will work using mains power. The battery is in case of a power outage. It only beeps signaling that it’s low so you’ll know to change it so it will function in an outage. The typical batteries they come with are somewhat hit or miss. Change it once with a good Duracell and you’ll never hear from it again.
I watch them all Sean, and I just thought that this was another great demonstration! I'm playing with this progression and scale notes now! Thanks for your continued help!!
Amazing the power of small... As always, thank you. Like the small beep that becomes overpowering, you can numb to it, live with it or change the battery!
@@KingCraby Yep. Just got a new one fitted with lithium back up battery and according to the sparky the smoke detector should be replaced then anyway (10 years) so it's now a one stop set it and forget it deal. BTW what he did say is that he "needs reminding" so just give him a nudge every now and then.
I think they don't hard wire the smoke detectors like you want because if lightning (or something else) causes the power to go out AND lights the house on fire the alarm will still sound. Just guessing, but it begged for an answer! Bothered me a bit so I had to reply after deep thought
you dont want to completely have hard wired, cuz if there is a fire the wires could be burned and then it becomes useless and wont make the sound to tell you of a problem..

Duracell it is!
If the power is out, the battery is used to power said detector. YESSSSSSSSS!
Aside from all that silliness, I love the videos man!
Many thanks.

It’s a battery backup for power outages. Redundant power supply
Exactly. Electrical fires can cause power loss, which is another reason why smoke detectors have a battery backup.
It's also a dry cell battery

Thanks for the great rock guitar solo lesson and trick. Very helpful!!
With battery backup, smoke detectors will continue to work if there is a power failure. So…. that.
So the batteries should last the 5-10 years they are rated for

Yup
Agree! Sweetwater is the best! Best selection by far!
2:51. Is is it possible do Dmin and Bb to be in the same room without invoking Sultans of Swing?

Thanks Sean!🎸🎸
Dude I was at sweetwater last weekend!!!!!!!!!! DEALs man Deals
looper Sean. I am going to nominate you for a grammy in looping loopers.
the battery is there because fires happen when the power is out.

Sean I dont care about your domestic problems I am hear to learn guitar, dont make me bin you for another channel as I love your lessons!!!
You don't happen to save those loops do you? I like want you made
Same Key and similar cord progression as Sultans of Swing.
In case your electricity goes out it still works Tim Colorado Springs Colorado that's about your smoke detector.
That's kind of Dire Straits, kind of Sultans of Swing?
I would like my smoke detectors to work even if the electricity is knocked out by the fire, Sean........ :) :) :)
If your electrical system shorts and is the cause of the fire, the hard wired detectors will also fail.
