Ah shit, it’s out now huh. Dek here. If you know me, p much no secret that this is my favorite idea for Guts and one of my favorite matchups period. Two vengeful swordsman with lives wrought by tragedy and loss, only able to let it out through violence and pure berserker modes as they try to walk a lonely and painful path, eventually finding that they can hold those they love close to them, even if there’s a risk of losing them again. I absolutely love these characters, and this fight allows you to channel the full scope of who they are and the tone of their works. I always felt this would best start out tired and dark, both fighting as they would normally, with tactics, blood, and slowly pushing the other to their limits. Then eventually they’re pushed into their berserker forms, wildly roaring and flailing about, cutting the other up, but pushing through with pure stubbornness and blind fury as their blood gets drawn and stained everywhere. It comes to a limit, as they push their rage so far that it becomes too much even for them, rendering them weak, tired, and worn down. Until they manage to pick themselves up as always, and remember that past blind vengeance, they fight for those they love with a newfound sense of resolve. Track has a lot of music you’ll recognize if you’re a fan of both; Gatsu, Forces, Hai Yo, Danzai no Hana, and Kioku. I love how just like the characters it represents, even with how haunting and violent it sounds, there’s always a somber and sorrowful piano beneath, as the tragedy they’ve witnessed is what motivates them, no matter the front they put up. And man, the art was where I had to go nuts. The manga art for both is always so detailed and horrifying, that not portraying that would be a disservice. There’s def a lot more I can say, but just know that this is an idea I absolutely love.
This track sounds tragic, almost as if a fight between these two characters was avoidable or perhaps if I was to be more pessimistic, reminiscent of the two subconsciously wanting to be put out of their misery.

@@thirdegree101 so claymore is about a series of women called claymores who slay vampires with claymore swords. But they have vampire DNA mixed into them and they use it to fight them better. The main character Claire is a special case among the claymore due to how she became one. Claymore only eat 2 bites once a week, and slept best when sitting straight up.
And then guts having flashback about his misery past life, and said no its not over yet... not... over yet!!! **Berserk armour awakened** *AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!*
@@silverbladeofnorth7345 The dragonslayer has also collided with extremely tough objects (namely a certain giant crystalline dragon with plating theoretically equivalent to diamonds) and still looks pretty good for wear though, even being used as a straight up shield against explosions and the like, so the odds of it breaking are still pretty dang low. Still, if we're talking in a *purely* realistic sense, the way that claymore is built would logically have a fatal flaw in the form of the very thin connection between the crossguard and blade, making it very easy to break off (or well, maybe still tough, but it's without a doubt the weakest spot) if it wasn't for any enchantments or godly materials.
To anyone who wanted this matchup over Guts VS Dimitri, don’t worry, just remember how much of a Weeb for Berserk Chad James is, I’m sure he’d be more than up for a third run through on Guts at some point in the future
If it's not Clare, then at the very least, we got Guts' second best option by a mile. I would love a rerun for this MU eventually, maybe in the far future when Berserk officially ends.
Guts is the only one i see both Wiz & Boomstick actually being excited to have back for a 3rd time. Here's hoping this matchup will happen sonwtime in the future.
For a duel to the death between two of the most hardcore/brutal sword fighters in manga/anime, this is a sober soundtrack. It's absolutely perfect for Guts and Clare, as is the artwork.
Both Guts and Clare returned to face against one another, in a match up of zweihander wilders with shitty lives. Starting with a sad point through the song that is very fitting for their worlds, it just makes me wanna cry while fighting. And the art... Damn. You stated that the artist really wanted this to happen, so Brandon, make a shirt out of this art! It'll sell!
Listening to this track, and knowing Boomstick's love for brutal violence with him calling hulk's death in Hulk vs Doomsday "beautiful" I can imagine Boomstick crying after the fight is over and Wiz having to awkwardly comfort him before moving on to the conclusion of why Guts or Clare would win if this episode were to ever happen This could be an amazing season finale like All Might vs Might Guy but instead of being a heroic fight, it's a tragedy
Damn, you can really *feel* in that art just how much love for the MU the artist had. I like how this track focuses a lot on both characters' tragic lives, being an overall pretty "calm" and of course having that tragic feel to it. It doesn't focus on both either characters' more "violent" side, it focuses fully on their tragedy of a life with a song that, while still fitting for a Death Battle, is much calmer than you'd expect and that truly makes you feel for those characters. This is especially visible at the ending (4:48-5:30) where it definitely does feel like a climax to a battle, it still has that feel of sadness and "calm" that the rest of the song has. I also appreciate the hints to one of Berserk's more popular "sad" songs (don't know its name, sadly. Apologies) that are especially audible at the start of it. Another segment that I particularly appreciate would be the 3:01-3:44 one, I absolutely love the percussions there and just the amazing buildup that it is in general. Overall a great song of a grand scale that fits perfectly sides of both characters that are often forgotten or overshadowed by people. Amazing work as always.
Without a doubt in my mind, this is my preferred match for both. Plus I can definitely see this one becoming the episode someday, especially for it being a long term request.

@@chapellegillian9426 I think the main thing DB might've meant by that was him having a tendency to get his shit kicked in just a bit, and then suddenly have an epiphany that lets him outsmart his opponents, rather than merely outpower them. And usually by that point, said foe is thinking something along the lines of "well this ain't too hard, time to go for the kill", only to have things suddenly reversed on them, which isn't too difficult when they've been lured into a false sense of confidence and security. Having absurd amounts of strength and willpower is one thing, but I personally don't know enough about Claire to really say if they've got the same level deviousness and spur of the moment battlefield wits that Guts has.
@@norrecvizharan1177 It's less that and more that Guts is just... utterly unstoppable. The number of times he gets into fights while injured and comes out on top is frankly absurd. He gets the shit kicked out of him but usually is able to grit his teeth and win through sheer force of will. He's called "The Struggler" for a damn good reason.
@@RegalRoyalWasTaken I reckon it's probably a mix of both, as a lifetime of battlefield experience has certainly helped him make some crazy spur of the moment gamechanging decisions in a fight. Clearest one coming to mind was when he was being pummeled by the 3 torturers, and at the last second fired off his cannon at the same time he was pummeled by a giant wheel, done at just the right angle so he could be launched up into cleaving distance of the guy behind him, making it go from a 3v1 to a duel in an instant. And a runner up that comes to mind is the fight immediately after, where he deliberately pretends he's at the end of his rope by just punching the priest, only for that to be quite the explosive trick. Lad's got a willpower of titanium, but certainly also the wits to boot, where it almost seems like he's guaranteed to find a weakness and/or pull off an unexpected maneuver if he's not taken out right away.

I'm really hoping they just team up to fight off a hoard of apostles and awakened beings. Or see Gutz kill an Awakened being and Clare kill an apostle. Rocky and Hidaro hang out while the two fight. Clare is beyond Gutz in my opinion. Especially if in Teresa mode. But Gutz is used to being the under dog. He usually finds away but so does Clare. Man I can't wait.
I would really like that this become an actual episode, two of my favorite seinen main characters clashing against each other. As for who I think would win when Clare is awakened she is entirely to fast for Guts, yes Guts can dodge lightning but dodging something and actual combat speed are two different things (obviously with Clare having lightning speed way more consistenly than Guts) also her quick sword techniques would be to much for Guts to effectively counter. Berserker armor would not be a massive advantage here since while Guts defeated Ganishka who destroyed a whole army, Claire have the powers of Teresa who destroyed a mauntain range with only a fraction of her power
I mean death battle doesn't seem to care about reaction speed and actual combat speed since they just lump them together, the two new jojo episodes are a prime example of this since they say "erm space ripper stingy eye yup they MFTL+!!!"
The first 1:25 definitely had it hooks in me immediately. And the rest just carried me away to imagining a battlefield of slayed demons and scattered weapons. With these two standing at the center and fighting each other. This is definitely up there now as one of my favorite pieces of music from Brandon now. And that after literally listening to The Metal Lotus for about a few hours (which is definitely a top 5 for me). Love this. Plus, I'm actually hoping Guts makes a return to Death battle at some point.
Nightmare wasn’t bad, but Guts needs a new opponent. Cloud is too strong, as is Travis Touchdown or Scott Pilgrim (most likely facing each other), so this works.
@@averagegamecritic well from what I can remember Dimitri in FE three houses was a prince that loss all of his family to a war and only had like a few people that care for him, in his later years after a big war started he is basically revenge driven to kill Edelguard, a childhood friend and the one that help in the death's of Dimitri family, he is a welder of a crest and welde a sacred weapon made out of a goddesses bones and is proficient in combat That all I can remember but Fire emblem is really crazy and varied in feats for Dimitri as there his main story and the other two stories that he is apart of and including the new three hopes game that came out recently, I get that a fare opponent for Guts would be cool but if death battle would bring him back it may be he fight a Fire emblem character like Dimitri or Ike, Clare is from what I can guess is not far behind them
It's a statue from claymore, I'm not exactly sure what Guts' loved ones looked like outside of Casca, and I haven't seen claymore in ages, but I think that's just the normal Clare and Theresa, since below it is the berserk armor.
Clare (short hair angel) was adopted by Theresa (long hair angel). In Claymore, they are often portrayed as a symbolic parallel to the Twin Goddesses, who are shown as 2 one-winged angels praying back to back. Theresa died when Clare was young after she showed pity towards an enemy, setting off the main plot line of Claymore where Clare tries to hunt down her saviors killer. Clare took Theresa's flesh into her own body via a vaguely evil operation by a shadowy organization and became a member of the Claymores (roll credits). Clair's final form in the manga is more or less that part of Theresa within her taking full control as how Clare remembers her. Theresa was already the strongest Claymore to ever live but with Clare's idealized view of Theresa affecting the transformation, she surpasses even that pinnacle of power. To be blunt, if this fight were to happen and Clare was somehow pushed into that final stage, the fight is over. Pit that final form against anyone in the Berserk universe and it's a landslide win for Theresa. Even if you can pull a Cell and regenerate from basically nothing like the final villain of Claymore could, Theresa can attack so fast that she can disintegrate people with a sword, can predict the actions of her opponents with increasing accuracy the stronger they are, can copy the moves of others after seeing them once and is stupid strong. TLDR; She's the Final Form of an anime protagonist, lol.
@@alessandrobagni6374 Nah, I got big doubts about that. Putting aside that we'll likely never see what they can do, what we have seen has been overwhelmingly manageable for final form Theresa. They are absolutely OP for the Berserk world though, no idea how Guts is supposed to deal with them. Except maybe Femto, I think Guts will have some sort of conceptual ability to harm him due to surviving the sacrifice.
Wow that's just so awesome the art is incredible and the music is just perfectly fitting for these 2 thanks to Brandon and the commissioner for this one it's great to see this idea get some love Clare FTW because Guts is done for as soon as Teresa comes in

Behold, the only MU that Guts actually wins lol. And only because Clare bunks go brrr. Whether this is Guts' best or not I'm un sure of since Dimitri is also a really good Guts MU. That aside, great track Brandon, that's 2 Guts tracked by you and both were bangers. Can't say I'm surprised really. p.s: Late AF for this but R.I.P Miura edit: So as it turns out, Clare's bunks got bunked and Guts' town level scaling is what actually ended up getting bunked so yeah Guts dies again lol. This means he once again loses ALL of his MUs. Even people like Eren and Tanjiro beat him now.
I'm not sure about bunks, the Quicksword calc should be legit because the technique moves many FTE, and Teresa also sliced Priscilla into dust and had to overcome her regen, which is way faster than Serpico and Guts dodging lightning

@@DepressedWendigo they're both currently similar attack power, Guts scaling to the Cloud dispertion which is like 210ish Kilotons of TNT and Clare gets around the same ballpark thanks to scaling explosions from riful and isley

Honestly, I'm kind of hoping that if this indeed happens, that Clare wins. Not only do I simply like her more and LOVE Claymore in general (especially since a certain (IMO terrible) writing decision turned me off of Berserk entirely during the Post-Eclipse section of the Golden Age...), but I think its time Guts was knocked off his pedestal for once, ya know? I like the man and his tragic tale, seeing him kick ass is AWESOME!! BUT, I think people constantly riding his dragon slayer and saying "just another tuesday for Guts lolololololol" is...annoying at best, and misrepresents Guts as an unstoppable slaughter-monster. Guts is not that, he's a struggler who defies fate with all his might, and sometimes needs the aid of his berserker armor to do so. Its compelling not because he's invincible, but because he's managing to live another day in his crapsack world without a horrible death. Plus, wouldn't it be good to showcase the more obscure sister of the sword in a glorious, victorious light? To give the obscure series its own time to shine instead of more status quo Berserk glorification?

Two dark medieval manga demon slayers who grew up in battlefield and are in a long quest for revenge to kill someone(griffith and priscilla) after having to watch the ones they loved die, becoming alot more closed off after said event but eventually they settle down as they discover new group of people in their life. Both also have berserk states where they become alot more unhinged and inhuman, those respectively being Guts's berserker armor and Clare's yoma awakened state

Zero chances, post quicksword clare will just lift hand and unleashed attack which if not cut berserker armor than atleast break plate and bones to level where guts even if live will not move
Any weak claymore can reach guts speed, basically all of them could use dragonslayer(including clarice which is mudhair and raki who is human only) and all of them can handle wounds that would kill guts

If Guts dies he will burn an eternity in hell and his loved ones will all probably die without him.
There high chance dragonlayer will be broken already. It is iron and swords of claymores cant be even nicked(even if she hit stone by it)

I think the sad song you mentioned is Guts's Theme, because I can definitely hear some of it.

And usually by that point, said foe is thinking something along the lines of "well this ain't too hard, time to go for the kill", only to have things suddenly reversed on them, which isn't too difficult when they've been lured into a false sense of confidence and security. Having absurd amounts of strength and willpower is one thing, but I personally don't know enough about Claire to really say if they've got the same level deviousness and spur of the moment battlefield wits that Guts has.
@@norrecvizharan1177 It's less that and more that Guts is just... utterly unstoppable. The number of times he gets into fights while injured and comes out on top is frankly absurd. He gets the shit kicked out of him but usually is able to grit his teeth and win through sheer force of will.
He's called "The Struggler" for a damn good reason.
@@RegalRoyalWasTaken I reckon it's probably a mix of both, as a lifetime of battlefield experience has certainly helped him make some crazy spur of the moment gamechanging decisions in a fight. Clearest one coming to mind was when he was being pummeled by the 3 torturers, and at the last second fired off his cannon at the same time he was pummeled by a giant wheel, done at just the right angle so he could be launched up into cleaving distance of the guy behind him, making it go from a 3v1 to a duel in an instant. And a runner up that comes to mind is the fight immediately after, where he deliberately pretends he's at the end of his rope by just punching the priest, only for that to be quite the explosive trick.
Lad's got a willpower of titanium, but certainly also the wits to boot, where it almost seems like he's guaranteed to find a weakness and/or pull off an unexpected maneuver if he's not taken out right away.
This is definitely without any doubt Can be one of the saddest death Battle episode ever made, Possibly rivaling even Tanjiro vs Jonathan.

I'm really hoping they just team up to fight off a hoard of apostles and awakened beings. Or see Gutz kill an Awakened being and Clare kill an apostle. Rocky and Hidaro hang out while the two fight. Clare is beyond Gutz in my opinion. Especially if in Teresa mode. But Gutz is used to being the under dog. He usually finds away but so does Clare. Man I can't wait.

I would really like that this become an actual episode, two of my favorite seinen main characters clashing against each other.
As for who I think would win when Clare is awakened she is entirely to fast for Guts, yes Guts can dodge lightning but dodging something and actual combat speed are two different things (obviously with Clare having lightning speed way more consistenly than Guts) also her quick sword techniques would be to much for Guts to effectively counter. Berserker armor would not be a massive advantage here since while Guts defeated Ganishka who destroyed a whole army, Claire have the powers of Teresa who destroyed a mauntain range with only a fraction of her power

I mean death battle doesn't seem to care about reaction speed and actual combat speed since they just lump them together, the two new jojo episodes are a prime example of this since they say "erm space ripper stingy eye yup they MFTL+!!!"
The first 1:25 definitely had it hooks in me immediately. And the rest just carried me away to imagining a battlefield of slayed demons and scattered weapons. With these two standing at the center and fighting each other.
This is definitely up there now as one of my favorite pieces of music from Brandon now. And that after literally listening to The Metal Lotus for about a few hours (which is definitely a top 5 for me).
Love this. Plus, I'm actually hoping Guts makes a return to Death battle at some point.

Nightmare wasn’t bad, but Guts needs a new opponent. Cloud is too strong, as is Travis Touchdown or Scott Pilgrim (most likely facing each other), so this works.

@@averagegamecritic well from what I can remember Dimitri in FE three houses was a prince that loss all of his family to a war and only had like a few people that care for him, in his later years after a big war started he is basically revenge driven to kill Edelguard, a childhood friend and the one that help in the death's of Dimitri family, he is a welder of a crest and welde a sacred weapon made out of a goddesses bones and is proficient in combat
That all I can remember but Fire emblem is really crazy and varied in feats for Dimitri as there his main story and the other two stories that he is apart of and including the new three hopes game that came out recently, I get that a fare opponent for Guts would be cool but if death battle would bring him back it may be he fight a Fire emblem character like Dimitri or Ike, Clare is from what I can guess is not far behind them

It's a statue from claymore, I'm not exactly sure what Guts' loved ones looked like outside of Casca, and I haven't seen claymore in ages, but I think that's just the normal Clare and Theresa, since below it is the berserk armor.
It's the statue of the goddesses Clare and Teressa are named after
Clare (short hair angel) was adopted by Theresa (long hair angel).
In Claymore, they are often portrayed as a symbolic parallel to the Twin Goddesses, who are shown as 2 one-winged angels praying back to back.
Theresa died when Clare was young after she showed pity towards an enemy, setting off the main plot line of Claymore where Clare tries to hunt down her saviors killer.
Clare took Theresa's flesh into her own body via a vaguely evil operation by a shadowy organization and became a member of the Claymores (roll credits).
Clair's final form in the manga is more or less that part of Theresa within her taking full control as how Clare remembers her. Theresa was already the strongest Claymore to ever live but with Clare's idealized view of Theresa affecting the transformation, she surpasses even that pinnacle of power.
To be blunt, if this fight were to happen and Clare was somehow pushed into that final stage, the fight is over.
Pit that final form against anyone in the Berserk universe and it's a landslide win for Theresa. Even if you can pull a Cell and regenerate from basically nothing like the final villain of Claymore could, Theresa can attack so fast that she can disintegrate people with a sword, can predict the actions of her opponents with increasing accuracy the stronger they are, can copy the moves of others after seeing them once and is stupid strong.
TLDR; She's the Final Form of an anime protagonist, lol.

@@alessandrobagni6374 Nah, I got big doubts about that. Putting aside that we'll likely never see what they can do, what we have seen has been overwhelmingly manageable for final form Theresa.
They are absolutely OP for the Berserk world though, no idea how Guts is supposed to deal with them. Except maybe Femto, I think Guts will have some sort of conceptual ability to harm him due to surviving the sacrifice.

edit: So as it turns out, Clare's bunks got bunked and Guts' town level scaling is what actually ended up getting bunked so yeah Guts dies again lol. This means he once again loses ALL of his MUs. Even people like Eren and Tanjiro beat him now.
I'm not sure about bunks, the Quicksword calc should be legit because the technique moves many FTE, and Teresa also sliced Priscilla into dust and had to overcome her regen, which is way faster than Serpico and Guts dodging lightning

Honestly, I'm kind of hoping that if this indeed happens, that Clare wins. Not only do I simply like her more and LOVE Claymore in general (especially since a certain (IMO terrible) writing decision turned me off of Berserk entirely during the Post-Eclipse section of the Golden Age...), but I think its time Guts was knocked off his pedestal for once, ya know?
I like the man and his tragic tale, seeing him kick ass is AWESOME!! BUT, I think people constantly riding his dragon slayer and saying "just another tuesday for Guts lolololololol" is...annoying at best, and misrepresents Guts as an unstoppable slaughter-monster. Guts is not that, he's a struggler who defies fate with all his might, and sometimes needs the aid of his berserker armor to do so. Its compelling not because he's invincible, but because he's managing to live another day in his crapsack world without a horrible death.
Plus, wouldn't it be good to showcase the more obscure sister of the sword in a glorious, victorious light? To give the obscure series its own time to shine instead of more status quo Berserk glorification?
