You like Kentaro Miura's Berserk?
His early work was a little too edgy for my taste. But when Berserk came out in '89, I think He really came into his own, commercially and artistically. The whole manga has a clear, crisp message, and a sheen of grounded reality that really gives the chapters a big boost. He's been compared to Go Nagai, but I think Miura has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.
In '96, Miura released this; Volume 12., his most iconic volume. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Eclipse". A chapter so intense, most people probably don't follow the foreshadowing. But they should, because it's not just about the ideology of Griffith and the importance of equal friendship. It's also a personal statement about Guts and Griffiths dualism itself. Hey Reader!

Guts’ theme isn’t one of sadness. It’s of escaping from the lowest and most vulnerable point of your life and finally accepting and being accepted by people you will come to trust and who will trust you like family. This song is the happiness and relief you feel in auditory form.

It took Miura's death to show me how much his masterpiece Berserk Inspired my favorite franchise ever, dark souls, rest in peace legend.
My guy you're super late to the party but I'm glad you made it. Dark Souls is basically Berserk the game. Even getting your ass kicked over and over and over. The general feeling of playing the game is what I imagine its like for Guts after the brand. Night after night after night of fighting until the dawn and dragging all the death and loneliness and despair along for each fight.

Its not just some nods to designs and the world being bleak its also the difficulty of the fights and how it hardens you to keep pushing through no matter what. Honestly Miura passing like this and Berserk maybe not ending is just one last lesson on enduring. At least that's what I'm trying to get out of it. Been reading the series since like 2006 so its kind of been a fixture in my life.
The Dark Souls got most of his inspiration from novels actually, although his games has a lot of shoutouts to Berserk.
@@bluegiant13 actually many of the themes , character designs and characters, some part of lore were from berserk only, rest were from european fantasy novels. so all in all it was - 35%berserk, 40%european fantasy , 25%miyazaki himself .
ps. miyazaki made all the gameplay and charm and etc all by himself .
Same with bloodborne, the hunters mark got it's inspiration from the brand of sacrifice

I wonder if Kentaro Miura enjoyed the memes his story birthed into this world. If I had to guess I would say yes. From his writing (and from those who knew him) it seems he had a pretty wild sense of humor and was a pretty cheerful guy. Lot's of fun to be around.

I know right? It went from being the perfect encapsulation of Guts in the Golden Age to pure grief of Miura's passing. I didn't even know the man and it seriously hit me so hard. I was not expecting that at all. I didn't even know who Kentaro Miura was two years ago, and now I feel like I've lost a friend.

If we're lucky his assistants might be able to finish the next couple of chapters that may have been in production before he died, but it probably will never get an ending (and I'm not sure I would want it to, without Miura being the one penning it).
The New Couldn’t he have least written down a notebook of where the story was going? Cuz I saw a meme like that once if someone just reading an actual book because it was all written out. Even if it never got put in manga form, we’re never gonna know what happens to anyone. Does Guts get revenge or not or has he moved past that? We’ll never know.
@@mooganify For me it depends entirely on if Miura wrote down the rest of the story and how detailed he was. Miura seems like the kind of guy who would not leave something like his life's work to chance and would probably have a contingency in place for his assistants. It just seems like it would be totally in character for him.
I think I can live with, and even really enjoy an art style that is a bit different if it's done by a good artist/artists.. but it would have to be Miura's "vision" (story) and they would have to be really really careful to stick with it.
@@ToneSherpa It's been confirmed his assistants will take over. They did impeccable work on Duranki and are just as experienced digital art wise as Miura. I'm sure berserk will continue strong as ever. Now we can let Miura rest.

Kentaro miura made guts' character so stoic i once followed guts' character for months, not complaining, exercising, showing less emotion, enduring, not fighting near deaths door of course but that was a good year for both my mental and physical health thanks to guts' character. If we talk about people that always think about this world, people who are analyzing everything, they get divided on 2 types:Griffith and Guts. And the saddest thing, is that people like Griffith will always be stronger, even if u will train everyday, every hour u will still lose to a guy, who can bring his family, friends and love to reach the target.

I recently watched Berserk, and I was REALLY surprised by the quality of the anime. The characters were so well written, the drama felt real, Guts didn't have hero syndrome and was a person with wants and needs and fears, I really got in to the show. Cheesy animations and sound aside, I understand why it's a timeless classic.
God there's just something nostalgic and reminiscent about it; an absolute 90s sound... reminds me of Enigma's music.

This is definitely me when I listen to the guts theme from the extremely popular Japanese animated series from 1997, based off of the Japanese comic series, or manga, from 1989 known as Berserk. Serious note though, RIP Kentaro Miura, he left behind, for us, easily one of the best mangas ever. ❤️🙏🏼
