  • Join me on another good old fashioned Seth's Bike Hacks adventure! Today, we travel to the Westernmost Hawaiian island of Kauai to ride mountain bikes with Minh Hai, a bike mechanic who recognized my voice over the phone.
    If you want to know where any of these trails are you'll need to go to Kauai and make friends with some mountain bikers.

    I need to correct for something really important in the video. When I looked at the creek gap I said the landing seemed janky, but when I rode it the landing was super smooth. The reason I say this is that someone hauled a shovel out there and toiled in the sun on that landing. The final word? The whole gap was rad as hell and sent smooth as butter.

    I grew up riding on Oahu and had friends with sail boats so we would sail to the other islands, mountain bike there and sail back a day or two later. I trained as a pro mechanic at Hawai'ian Island Triathlon and I was able to ride places which are now shut down. You did a great job shooting this and showing what the island is like, nicely done!!!!

    Can't agree more, anyone criticising him for spending $1000 for a day of amazing memories and new friends, think about how much you spend on your plastic beach getaways which leave you with nothing more than temporary tan lines and forgettable hours in expensive beds. Value is entirely subjective and I don't there's any better way to spend your money than on memorable experiences.

      bullwhip johnson , ahhh, you're not incorrect. Lawrence Welk pioneered the original elevator sounds. The question I have is, how did elevator music become it's own style that is used universally? 😊

    • @bullwhipjohnson8247

      Muddy Paws The Champagne Music of LW is something I grew up with. There was a private Radio channel called Muzak that was available to businesses. Groceries, Department stores and others subscribed. They produced music like 101 Strings and the like that did instrumental covers of popular songs. Like the Beatles Yesterday.

    i love the video seth, everything about that island looks so beautiful. I've been subscribed for over a year now and you're my main inspiration to get out and ride mountain bikes lol i mean as a kid ive always had fun riding wheelies and BS-ing but now im learning how much mountain biking how grown. I cant afford to buy a quality bike yet but i did just pick up a mongoose ledge. i know its nothing to brag about but i have a blast on it and i picked it up for only $30 in near perfect condition! Keep up the quality videos brother. When i'm not watching, im waiting for the next one.

    Hey Seth would u recommend buying cheap mtbs doing them up and selling them for a small profit

    • @minecraftman277
      @minecraftman277 6 лет назад +5

      No. The problem is the frame of said cheap bikes. Most people wouldn't buy a cheap bike, with some shiny bits on it, because at the end of the day, its still a cheap bike. Unless you're getting the bikes nearly for free, you'll find yourself loosing a lot of money.

      this is Possible with not cheep but good Used, Frames and with new Parts although you would have to get close to wholesale prices for the New components..

    • @cliffsangelsphotography
      @cliffsangelsphotography 6 лет назад +2

      Not worth it. Even if the cheap bike was free, it just depends on what you're upgrading. People with little-to-no knowledge about bikes aren't willing to spend more than $100 on second hand bikes. People with knowledge won't even give your bike a second glance.

    I lived on Maui for years, that's where I started mountain biking. As you observed, Hawaii is pretty amazing. On Maui at the time, there were 2 trails. 2. On the entire island. You can't road trip to another trail system an hour or 2 away...you just ride the same 2 trails. Land access and building new trails is insanely difficult compared to most of the other US states.
    It's a mixed bag for sure. Glad you had fun and got to share this experience with your viewers, it really is the most beautiful place on earth. Whenever I had a little money and time I would take my surfboard and a tent and go camp on Kauai and surf and hang out...it's beautiful.
